Inspector Rishi is a detective comics (webcomics) series written and illustrated by Nandhini
JS. It follows the mystery-solving adventures of Rishi Nandhan, a fictional police inspector
from the Criminal Investigation Department, Tamilnadu, India.
 The first story in the series, 'The Legend of Vana Yakshi' has been conceptualized by
Nandhini JS along with freelance writer Sujatha Natarajan. In this, the skeptic and quick-
minded Rishi investigates a series of bizarre murders in a small mountain village supposedly
by a mythical vana yakshi (native name for a blood sucking forest nymph).

 Artist Gaman Palem

Gaman Palem is an Indian comic book illustrator. He has illustrated more than 100
Indian children's comics, working mainly on mythological subjects.

Education in Mass Communication took Gaman Palem, Chennai, to procure a

doctorate degree in the same subject from the Madurai Kamaraj University, Tamil
Nadu. However, Palems mind was not glued to academics. A true graphic visualizer
and an avid follower of graphic novels from all over the world, Palem decided to set
sails into the larger ocean of graphic visualizing and today he is one of the highly
acclaimed graphic designers and an artist who uses graphic novel format as a
medium to express his ideas. With a deep understanding of Indian mythologies as
well as their regional versions and interpretations, Gaman Palem makes use of his
knowledge for creating a series of works that blend the mythical characters to
contemporary contexts.

Gaman's first series of eight picture books, The Golden Mythology Series, won the
National Award for Excellence in Printing Children's Books. Gaman Palem worked at
Loyola College of Education in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, was a visiting faculty at Raffles
College, a creative consultant in many publishing houses and animation studios.

He became interested in comics at a very young age of two. Later, it just became a
passion. He also works in 3D animation, but is more interested in creating graphic
novels and comics. Gaman's artistic style is influenced by Indian iconography,
 combining the traditional illustration techniques of watercolour, pen and ink with
modern digital techniques. His debut art show was in September at The United Art
Fair 2012. An exhibition on Freedom to March with Ojas Gallery 2013, New Delhi,
where he interpreted Mahatma Gandhi, Dandi march, in his unique graphic novel
format and in Punebiennale 2015 with 'Swachh Bharath' in his own unique graphic
narrative manner. Gaman Palem lives and works in Chennai. His works have been
published in major graphic magazines, journals and he has exhibited widely in India.

Nonte Phonte is a Bengali comic-strip (and later comic book) creation of Narayan Debnath
which originally was serialized for the children's monthly magazine Kishore Bharati. The
stories featuring in the comic strips focusses on the trivial lives of the title characters, Nonte
and Phonte, along with a school-senior, Keltuda, and their Hostel Superintendent. The
comics have appeared in book form and have been recreated since 2003 in colour. A
popular animation series based on the characters has also been filmed.

Mrinal Rai (Best Cartoonist, Indian Comics Fandom Awards 2016)

I am an independent artist working as a freelance artist for last six years. I have self-
published two comic books, Tamas and Zikr and one text cum graphic novel,
Kurukshetra Yuddh. I have also worked on freelancing illustration assignments for
different companies. The latest project that I worked on was a board game based on
Indian epic Mahabharata. Most of my own work will revolve around Indian history
and its heritage. I am strong supporter of creating stories which are true to spirit of
Indian values, even of they are inspired from a foreign work. I am currently working
on one comic book (second one in my comic series - Zikr), one graphic novel and
second volume of my novel Kurukshetra Yuddh. Besides, I am also working on many
illustration projects. I am based out of Bangalore and can be reached out
