Essay: social issues (Euthanasia)

Euthanasia is a serious political, moral and ethical issue in todays society. It

is sometimes called as mercy killing or assisted suicide. Most people either strictly
forbid it or firmly favor euthanasia. Base on religion as a Roman Catholic, killing is
forbidden and stated on the fifth commandment of God that, You shall not kill. Life
is sacred because it is created by God and is meant for an everlasting relationship
with Him. God is the Lord of life and no one has the right to destroy an innocent
human being. Also on political laws, killing is an immoral conduct and a crime.
Euthanasia is to take deliberate action with the express intention of taking a life of a
terminally ill patient to relieve intractable suffering. Terminally ill patient chooses to
end his/her own life by participating in physician-assisted suicide. The decision also
would come in the family base on their religions, faith, beliefs and moral
considerations knowing what to be the best choice. Also personal experience and
opinions may be a factor that weighs heavily on the issue of euthanasia, but the
real substance comes from the facts. The legal ramifications play a major role in the
legalization of euthanasia.
