Various of the essential oils find use as antiseptics in hair tonics and
serve excellently in this capacity.
The common rubefacients used are capsicum, salicylic acid, and
cantharides.

No. 19. HAIR TONIC


Alcohol 88.50%
* G-4
0.25%
Oxyquinoline Benzoate 1.00%
Oil of Eucalyptus 2.00%^
Salicylic Acid 0.257,
Olive Oil 8.00%

Dissolve the G-4, salicylic acid, and oxyquinoline benzoate in the


alcohol. Add the oils and mix well. Allow the solution to age for two or
three days and filter before filling.

No. 20. HAIR TONIC


Alcohol 30.0%
Eucalyptol 0.5%
Eucalyptus 0.3%
Menthol 0.2%
Thymol 0.1%
Tr. Capsicum 0.9%
Water 68.0%
Dissolve the essential oils in the alcohol and add the water. Age this
mixture for several days, filter and package.

No. 21. EAU DE QUININE


Alcohol 80.9%
Tr. Chinchona Alk 2.0%
Propylene Glycol 6.0%
Quinine Bisulphate 0.1 %
Water 9.0%
Eau de Cologne 2.0%
Mix all of the ingredients together, adding the water last. Age this
mixture for a sufficient period of time to permit the precipitation of
insolubles. Filter and package.
