Objective: Students will be able to read and comprehend information from a


biographical article.

Timeline Page

Motivation:

I will show a video of the selected person, we will talk a bit about what we
already know about the individual and this will lead us into our article
reading.

Instruction:

I will present the biography on the smartboard


We will read through the biography together and highlight important facts
o Unlike writing, we are only highlighting key facts in order to
understand who Sarah Goode is and why she is important.
After reading the biography, I will present a PowerPoint with the student
pages included.
We will complete the timeline where the facts will pop up one by one as
students fill out the timeline.
As a class, we will then fill in the Bubble Brainstorm with facts provided by
the teacher.
o Does not have to be written in complete sentences.

Guided Practice:

Students will fill in the All about Sarah E. Goode sheet.

Assessment:

Students will be assessed on the filled out All About worksheet for
completion.

Closure:

Review facts we learned from the article, and why the person is important to
Black History Month
