Present Aw and Au sound cards


Because each are vowel combinations they will be in double vowel
syllables
Student echo sounds
o Au-August-/0/
o Aw- Saw- /o/
Construct two words
o Aunt
o Straw
Have students read and tap words
Guided Practice:
Trick Word Practice
o August
o Laugh
o Daughter
What makes each tricky?
Skywrite words

Individual Practice:
Have students write down the trick words in their book.
Assessment:

Give me one word that has the au or aw sound


Modifications:
One student will be wearing an FM system
I will be wearing a lapel microphone
Repeating directions for student who have troubling processing
information
Chunking tasks into smaller parts.
Check for understanding of directions.
