FIELD EXPERIENCES
2016-I taught third grade for one academic year on the Red Lake
Native American Reservation in Ponemah, Minnesota.
2015-I attended Responsive Classroom trainings and became
certified.
2015-I student taught in a first grade classroom for one semester in
Bemidji, MN.
2015-I completed a field experience at the Howard Shannon Colony
School just outside of Howard, SD. I was in the 4-8th grade part of the
school. I went there once a week. I observed, helped students with
school work, gave individual reading assessments, and gave a
reading lesson differentiated for multiple grade levels.
2015- For one academic semester, I spent two days a week for an
hour at the head start in Madison, SD. I planned P.E. lessons, gave
P.E. lessons, and spent time in their classroom interacting with
children.
2014- I did thirty hours of community service in a third grade
classroom in Pipestone, MN for my education program.
2014- I spent one hour a week for a semester in third grade. I gave
guided reading lessons to small groups of students.
2014- At the end of the semester, I spent two weeks full-time in a
third grade classroom in Chester, SD. I gave eight lessons on my
own, helped with recess duty, helped with lunch duty, and helped
children with their Daily 5 tasks.
2014-I observed a middle school classroom for one semester for an
hour a week. I also gave a group lesson with two others, to a middle
school class for a course of mine.
2015-Ive given portions of The Dibbles Assessment to second
graders at St. Thomas in Madison, SD.
2014-I attended all of the level three seminars given by our
Educational Department at DSU. They brought in guest speakers for
us to learn from. They brought in a principals panel, spoke about
SLOs, paraprofessionals, using iPads in the classroom, flipping a
classroom, differentiating instruction, etc. At the end of the seminars
I created lessons using the internet based programs our professors
taught about. The programs I used were Powtoon and Thinglink.
2014-I attended another set of conferences. The South Dakota
Teacher of the Year came in and spoke, a teacher that works for
students that have visual impairments spoke, a teacher from
Chicago spoke, and a teacher from Pipestone, MN spoke about their
new one to one Pilot program with iPads.

I worked as a daycare provider part-time for our local gym for a
year. I also worked as a roamer for the after school program. I
supervised children that were in middle school while they were in
the gym.

I took care of setting up the nets, keeping score, and taking the
nets down down for both sand volleyball in the summer and winter
league volleyball in our city armory.

I helped out with basketball camp, archery camp, nature camp, golf
camp, and Sporties for Shorties. I also was a substitute for the
Summer Program that takes care of children during the day.

I worked at a coffee shop that had a variety of duties including
making specialty coffee drinks, making lunches, doing dishes,
cleaning, and counting the till.

9/2015- Student Teaching (Unpaid) Bemidji Public Schools


12/2015 I student taught for one semester in a first grade classroom at
Horace May Elementary in Bemidji, Minnesota. I had several duties
during this experience. I was assigned to teach a particular subject
for a week. I was assigned to teach a full scripted unit. I also was
given full control of the classroom for a period of time during my
experience.
8/2016- Elementary Education Teacher-Third Grade, Red Lake Public Schools
Present
I taught third grade for one academic year on the Red Lake Native
American Reservation in Ponemah, Minnesota. I taught reading,
writing, and math. I implemented flexible seating using wobble
chairs, balance discs, and bouncy bands. I used technology to
enhance instruction daily. My classroom had iPads and a smartboard.
I used the Responsive Classroom approach for classroom
management.
