additional resources nor the reduction in the number of patients.

This report however submits

that another important solution is solution number (i) above i.e. communicating to patients
the expected waiting time for each activity. In this way, they will be able to estimate how long
their visit to PATA will take and plan their activity for that day accordingly e.g. taking leave
from work. Based on the above analyses and justifications, this report recommends that the
June Task Force acts on the solutions offered by this report.the targeted utilization rate of not
more than 85%. In order to ascertain the impact of the reduced flow time of MD examination
to patients waiting time, the analysis below is carried out :

- Flow rate = 6.875 patients

- Flow time = 55 minutes
- In one hour, one MD can serve 0.92 patient (i.e. 60 minutes / 55 minutes)
- MD activity capacity : 0.92 patients x 8 MDs = 7.36 patients/hour

- Wait time formula : W = L / (60 minutes)

- W = 6.875 /7.36 = 0.93 X 60 minutes = 55.8 minutes (waiting time for patient before
being examined by MD)

The reduced flow time however impacted negatively to patients waiting time where the new
waiting time will be 55.8 minutes compared to the current waiting time of 54.6 minutes. This
report however submits that the resolving of the MD bottleneck by reducing the time in
which the MD do their job is still a feasible solution since the increase of 1.2 minutes in MD
