If you record on a Mac or PC, then you should head to the Cakewalk website from October 15, 11am (Eastern Time).
Here, for a limited time only, you will be able to download Cakewalks CA-2A T-Type Leveling Amplifier for FREE.
Meticulous modeling
Zero latency for real-time tracking and mixing
Up to 40dB of smooth, transparent gain reduction
Frequency dependent compression
Program dependent attack/release
Fully modeled "R37" HF Pre-emphasis control. The original, somewhat mysterious R37 control was useful for "de-essing" -
cutting down sibilance by compressing high frequencies - or changing the tonality of vocals
Dual photocell reset modes (Classic & Fast Reset) this allows you to select an (arguably flawed, but sought-after) Classic
mode, or an improved "no pop" performance Fast Reset mode. Best of both worlds!
Side-chain compression for ducking, pumping, and more. This is a new addition to the original unit
Windows compatibility: ProChannel, VST2.4, VST3 / Mac compatibility: OS X: VST3
The purpose of the CA-2A T-Type Leveling Amplifier is to limit the dynamic range of a signal by reducing the amplitude of its
transient peaks. The CA-2A T-Type Leveling Amplifier varies its gain in response to the level of the input signal. Large input signals
result in less gain, thus reducing or compressing the dynamic range of the signal.
In a typical mix of audio material, there are a few peaks that are much louder than the average signal. Increasing the overall
volume would make these peaks exceed the maximum output level, causing unpleasant distortion in the music. Compression
reduces the level of any peaks above the threshold so the average level can be boosted.
