ABOUT THE BUILDING

Cultural monument

Steam bath of brothers Krsmanovi,

45a, Cara Duana Street

The steam bath complex of brother Krsmanovi was built between 1901 and the
1920s around the remains of a former Small Turkish bath, presumably from the
eighteenth century. In the centre of the bath there is a circular pool Turkish bath
and a smaller polygonal pool with cold water. The foundations of the room with the
circular pool and the canals underneath the pool are in fact the remains of the old
Turkish bath.

The building of the Steam bath of brothers Krsmanovi was designed in the style of
academism. It was conceived as a ground floor building with a prominent upper
floor side projection that ends with a balustrade in the roof zone. In the central part
of the symmetric faade there is a portal with semi-circular upper part and
triangular timpani above. Shallow lesenes with decorative capitals separate
windows topped with triangular timpanums.

REVITALISATION PROCESS

During the process of revitalization, we tried to be a core function of the building

retained. Bath represents a monument of culture so it is important to remain in the
state in which it is projected at the beginning of XX century.

The front facade that opens out on the street Cara Duana is minimum changed,
only materials as it will improve the aesthetic characteristics of the object itself.
Fasade has a monumental look, so it does not require a large and significant
changes.

Swimming pools which are located in the central part of the floor plan, remained in
place, as well as it is probably the most important part of the bathroom.

It is obvious that the new project of "Hamam Dunav" add various service activities
and functions that the current facility is not owned: beauty salon, tepidarium,
jacuzzi, salt room, lobby and cafe in the part of the facility .

In order to improve the aesthetic quality of the interior, there are marble and
ceramic tiles, while in the coffee shop, beauty salon and massage rooms there is
laminate.
