Prospective Sponsoring agencies for Financial Support for

Following are a tentative list of prospective sponsoring agencies for financial support for organising
symposium / seminar / conference / workshop. There can be more number of sponsoring agencies and
more number of schemes, which the faculty members are requested to individually make efforts and
apply. The information given below is not complete and may change. Hence the faculty members are

Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR)


CSIR's Symposium Grant is provided for organizing a symposium / seminar / conference /
workshop etc. in India.

Science and Engineering Research Board (DST)


The Programme extends partial support on a selective basis, for organizing seminar /
symposia/ training programmes / workshops / conferences at national as well as international
level. The support is provided to Research Institutes/ Universities/Medical and Engineering
Colleges and other Academic Institutes/ Professional Bodies who organize such events for
the scientific community to keep them abreast of the latest developments in their specific
areas. The support is generally given for encouraging participation of young scientists and
research workers in such events and publication of proceedings / abstracts for wider
dissemination. The Programme also supports S&T Professional bodies.

Department of Biotechnology (DBT)


DBT provides financial assistance towards organizing Conference/ Seminar/ Symposium/
Workshop and Travel support to the researchers for presenting their papers in the conferences
which are being organised outside the country. It also extends support for organising DBT
stalls in Exhibitions held with in the country as well as outside the country. Financial

European Molecular Biology Organization


The EMBO Courses and Workshops Programme funds conferences, workshops, practical

Indian National Node for Neuro Informatics


INCNE aids financial support to Indian workshops and short courses in the area of
Neuroinformatics and Computational Neuroscience. These applications will be reviewed

The Lady Tata Memorial Trust


The trust offers partial financial assistance to Indian Scientific Research Institutions /

TWAS
TWAS is a programme unit within the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural
Organization (UNESCO). With funds provided by the Italian government, TWAS encourages
the organization of high-level international and regional scientific activities in developing
countries by offering financial assistance to the organizers of such events. Deadlines for
applications: 1 June for meetings to be held during January-June of the following year, and 1
December for meetings to be held during July-December of the following year. Grants are
offered for meetings in the following fields of natural sciences: agricultural, biological,
chemical, engineering, geological and medical sciences.

Armaments Research Board (DRDO)


DRDO is promoting innovative/basic research among Academic and Research Institutions
across the country through Grant-in-Aid schemes of Research Boards and Dte of ER & IPR.
Under these schemes, grants are offered to research
organizations/universities/departments/laboratories to carry out research in basic sciences and
engineering, setting up of basic facilities/infrastructures and conduct of conference/seminars/

Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences (BRNS)


BRNS considers presentation and discussion of the results of R & D in open meetings as an
important activity for the promotion of science and technology. Seminars and workshops are
sponsored to promote interaction among active workers. Major national symposia have
already been established in areas like nuclear and solid state physics, high energy physics,
radiation and photochemistry, radiation and environmental sciences. Organizations seeking

National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM) (DAE)

The NBHM has various schemes to provide financial support to institutions and individuals
to strengthen the mathematical base/potential through study, exchange or other such
programs. NBHM provides financial assistance for holding national and international
conferences/ workshops/seminars. The quantum of assistance depends on each proposal but
will not usually exceed Rs. 1,50,000/- (Rupees one lakh fifty thousand only) for an
international conference, and Rs. 80,000/- (Rupees Eighty Thousand only) for a national
conference.

Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE)


The Ministry provides support to universities, academic institutions/colleges, non-
governmental organizations, Government Departments, etc. for organizing workshops,
seminars, conferences to provide a forum for professionals, students, policy-makers,
managers, economists, industry representatives, etc., to interact and share their views on
identified thrust areas related to renewable or any other emerging area impinging on
technology, innovation in regard to renewables.

Ministry of Food Processing Industries


The promotional activities of the Ministry are aimed at generating awareness about food
processing sector, its growth potential and attractiveness of this sector as an investment
destination. Under the scheme, financial assistance is provided for organizing
Seminars/Workshops,Studies / Surveys, Exhibitions/Fairs and Study Tours. Scheme also
provides for participation of the Ministry in National/International exhibitions/fairs to
disseminate information regarding food processing industries, familiarizing the entrepreneurs
in modern technologies of production and packaging, development of market and
popularization of products as well as attracting investments into the sector etc.
Government/Academic Bodies, Industry Associations, NGOs, Cooperatives and other private
agencies etc. are eligible to seek assistance under the scheme.

Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation
National Academy of Statistical Administration (NASA) has decided to support the
Universities in organizing one day workshops/seminars having adequate relevance to
increasing awareness in the field of Official Statistics. Senior Officers from NASA, CSO or
other Ministries would interact with the faculty and students at the Universities.
