Setting up SQL ODBC for F9 on


Windows XP

Introduction
This document will explain how to setup an SQL ODBC between the X3 application and the F9
Financial Reporting software.

Procedure
Under the Start button, choose Settings and then Control Panel.

Select Administrative Tools and then Data Sources (ODBC) and click the System DSN tab and
click Add

Choose SQL Server from the drop-down list and click Finish.

Enter a name for the data source, a description, and choose the machine\instance where the SQL X3
database is located and click Next.

Click the radio button titled With SQL Server authentication, check the Connect to SQL Server
box, and enter the login and password. The login will be the name of the folder that you want to
interface with F9 and the password will be lowercase tiger. Click Next.

Select Change the default and choose the database name from the drop down list, then click
Next. Usually this is going to be X3V5 for newer installations.

Accept the defaults to the next screen and click Finish.

Review the ODBC details.

Click Test Data Source.
