400 cars/hour per gate where the driver purchases a token before
leaving the car park and inserts the coken into a machine at the
exit.
To achieve the above exit gate capacities there must be adequate
vehicle reservoir space between the barrier and the outside road oc
street.
4.50 The number of entry and exit lanes and reservoir spaces to be
provided for each car park shall be dependent upon the dynamic
capacity and parking demand.
Support Space and Services
5.10 Car park administration office space shall be provided at each car
park.
5-20 Maintenance and utility space shall be provided at each car park.
5.0 An electrical/mechanical plant room shall be required in each car
park. The capacity of such facilities for each car park vill be
considered in conjunction with MEW.
5.40 Toilet facilities and drinking water shall be provided for the
public and car park users on the ground floor only, with separate
foilet facilities for male and female. Such facilities shall also
have direct access from the exterior of the building.
5.50 A telephone service shall be provided for the car park
adninistration office. A (pay) telephone shall be provided at a
principal lift entrance on the ground floor only.
Electrical, HVAC, Drainage and Fire Prevention

Minimum lighting levels shall be:
Parking bays, above grade = - 50 lux
Bays in basement - 100 1ux
Access routes and ramps = 150 tux
Exit and entry areas - 200 lux
When daylight penetration in above ground multi-story car parks is
significant, a marked saving in running costs may be achieved by
dividing the Lighting circuits. The inner area can be continuously
illuminated while the peripheral lighting is switched off during
daylight hours.
Heating and air conditioning shall be provided in office and
revenue collection facilities.
Ventilation rates shall keep carbon-monoxide at or below:
General car park areas ~ 50 ppm (normal)/75 ppm with A/C
General car park areas ~ 100 ppm (peak)/125 ppm with A/C
ALL basements shall be ventilated.
Where car parks are.situated above ground every effort should be
made to use natural ventilation. In favourable conditions the
movement of air through two opposing longer sides can provide
sufficient cross-flow ventilation. In such cases the aggregate
open area of each of the opposing sides on any floor should be at
least 2.5% of the total parking area on that floor. (i.e. A total
of 5% per floor).
Basement drainage shall be provided by means of pumps.
Fire-fighting prevention facilities shall be provided in accordance
with Fire Department regulations.
7.0 Traffic Control and Signing

Standard signs and surface markings shall be used as directed by
Kuwait Municipality Traffic Studies Section or such sign scandards
nay be incorporated in car park specifications.
