Problem 1
A 3-span continuous girder (constant cross section) has the following characteristics:
Spans: 140 ft., 200 ft., 160 ft.
Loading: Span 1 has a 0.64 k/ft uniformly distributed load; Span 2 has no loading;
and Span 3 has a point load of 32 kips at the mid-span.

Using moment distribution, compute and draw the moment and shear diagrams along the beam.

Problem 2
In the example notes for load computation,

1- Compute the live load reaction at Pier 2 considering the lane loading (distributed load
of 0.64 k/ft) and the tandem loading (25 k per axle 4 ft apart).
2- Compute the live load reaction at Pier 2 (interior pier) considering the two truck
condition (trucks 50 ft. apart with the lane loading).
3- Compare the results with the reaction found in class and the results of (a) and (b)
above.
