Introduction
Tuberculosis (TB) is a bacterial infection caused by a germ called Mycobacterium
tuberculosis. The bacteria usually attacks the lungs, but can also damage other
parts of the body. Tuberculosis spreads through the air, when a person with
pulmonary tuberculosis sneezes or talks. You are more likely to get TB if you have a
weakened immune system.

Development
People infected with the tuberculous bacillus have a lifetime risk of tuberculosis
disease of 10%. In contrast, immunocompromised people, such as those with HIV,
malnutrition or diabetes, and smokers are at a much higher risk of becoming ill.
When someone develops active tuberculosis, symptoms (cough, fever, night sweats,
weight loss, etc.) can be mild for many months. This can cause the affected person
to be late in seeking medical attention, with the risk that the bacteria will spread to
other subjects. A person with active tuberculosis can infect over a year through 10
and 15 people by direct contact. However, there is no adequate treatment, dying on
45% of HIV-negative people with tuberculosis and virtually all people with TB / HIV
coinfection.
Tuberculosis is a disease that can be treated and has a cure. The active antibiotic-
sensitive form is treated with a standard four-drug combination that is administered
for six months and must be accompanied by relevant information, supervision and
patient care tasks by a health worker or a trained volunteer to the effect. Without
such support, therapeutic compliance may be difficult, which would lead to the
spread of the disease. The vast majority of cases have a cure, as long as the
necessary medicines are available and these are taken correctly.

Conclusion
To conclude, it is important to mention that Tuberculosis is one of the 10 leading
causes of mortality in the world. In 2015, 10.4 million people became ill with
tuberculosis and 1.8 million died because of it. More than 95% of tuberculosis
deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries. So, if you have the symptoms or
If you have been exposed you should consult a doctor to take the exams.
