Interview

I informed my teacher about interview. Briefly, I said that The reason why I am doing
an interview with you is to complete one of my assignment. And this interview is about
Classroom Management, so my questions will be about that topic. Then, I started to ask my
questions.

1. Could you tell about yourself/ your teaching life?

My name is Merve Aydodu. I have been working as a teacher for 10 years. My
students are 5 years old. And mostly, I worked this age range children.

2. What is the classroom management for you?

Briefly, according to me, classroom management is able to preserve the gleam in
the childrens eyes from the beginning of the course till the end.

3. How do you decide which classroom method you will use?

Every child is special. I mean that every child is differ from each other. As like
children, every classroom is special. They show different characteristics each time.
In other words, classrooms never stay the same. Each year, a new students come to
you and their needs, wants always are different from previous classroom. The
reason of that can be environment, parents, country, culture etc. Therefore, the
method that I will use always changes.

4. What is the factors that affect your classroom managements?

The structure of school, the characteristics/ features of the teacher, childrens
needs and knowledge are the main things that affect my management style.

5. What is the role of a teacher? What is the tasks, missions that she or he need to do?
I cannot generalize all teachers. I can talk about myself and I nearly always try to
make a preparation before class. That makes my job easier. Thanks to this, I know
what I will do. And also, I prefer to set the rules with my students. While we were
doing that, I had a chance to talk about the rules and why we need to set it in our
classroom. That supply children understand the reasons and they can obey these
more volunteer and easily. And of course, consistency is a big point. f you dont
follow the rules, or you dont show your reaction in the same way at every turn,
children can depart from the rule. They try to violate.

6. According to you, what is the aim of classroom management?

To create a learning environment being productive.
To use the time efficiently
To preserve the order in the classroom
To give a chance to children control on their own

7. What are you doing to manage the classroom?

Im trying to arrange the physical environment. For example, I am trying to do
something to put something in the correct way and place. Something refers to
light, heat, noise, cleanliness, educational materials etc. In addition to this, I am
doing a preparation. And also, I am giving importance to set a partner/collaborator
setting. That make everything easier to solve the problems.

8. As a last question, if you had a problem and you want to seek advice of someone,
what would you do?

I am consulting our psychological counseling and guidance teacher. He helps us

every time. We can set a nice conversation setting. We can share our classroom
problems with him without any hesitation.

Reflection about Interview

This assignment is given in the scope of the classroom management lecture. And what the
expected is to do an interview with our teacher about classroom management. While I was
preparing my questions, I want to benefit from our lecture notes, the theories, the approaches etc.
However, I changed my opinion. To ask the questions by depending on theoretical knowledges
can create a problematic interview. I made my research. I read and think about these notes
because if my teacher says or asks something about them, I dont want to be confused and I want
to show my knowledge, but the most important one, I want to have the goods about classroom
management. The classroom management is one of the most important thing to create a nice,
productive classroom environment. I mean that if I want to create such learning environment and
I want to be a good teacher, I have already had to know these.

I asked my questions and she answered them. At the end of the interview, I asked her how
she get these. She said that while I was preparing for KPSS exam, I had worked about them. Not
all of them, but the large part of these knowledge still stays in my mind. In addition to this,
Experience is so important and valuable things. If I compare my first years in the working life,
my knowledge is so fresh but I cannot control my classroom like now. I think the reason of that is
experience. And in that point I cannot stay without agreeing with her. And also, I already can see
her when she control, manage her classroom.

Here may not be a good place to state my pleasure, satisfaction but I will state. I feel so
lucky to be her intern student.

And thanks to this assignment, I had a chance to see and realize all of these.
