Period 2

The Sleepover

I invited my friends, Anthony and Trina over for a sleepover, because both of their parents

were free, and my parents were out. That left with me and my little brother and me alone in the

house. Despite of my brother repeatedly asking about when my parents were coming back, I

kind of like being alone in my house. I got to help myself to snacks, play minecraft, and finish

the Friday homework I had. I shot a quick glance at the clock on the wall in the living room, 6:46

PM. They should be coming anytime soon. I looked at my brother, who was staring out the door

window.

When are they coming? I want to show them my Minecraft world!, he said with his

adorable pout. He wasnt the kind of peevish little sibling that gets away with every bad thing.

He was the kind of brother whos loyal and kind to everyone, and honestly, among all of my

friends, he was the best kind of pal anyone could want.

Anytime now bud. Go have some Doritos, theyre on the counter, I said, pointing toward

the kitchen.

Oh wait! Theyre here! Look, look!

I looked out the door and saw Anthonys car, and noticed that they had carpooled. My

brother eager to let them in, unlocked the door, opened it, and ran outside to greet them. Trina

hugged my little brother and smiled her shiny smile. My brother was described as a huggable

little teddybear, so he returned her hug with a tight squeeze. I gave Anthony a pat and the back

to greet him. We said goodbye to Anthonys parents as they drove off. I asked why Trina

carpooled, and she said that her car stopped working on the way to my house. I found that a

little weird, but I didnt pay any attention to it, because the important thing was that everyone

was here.
We all went inside and ate snacks, played Minecraft, talked about Undertale fanfiction, and

set up a little tent made of furniture. We literally watched 2 movies, Matilda and Spiderwick

Chronicals. We were having so much fun, time flew by, and my brother grew drowsy. I shot a

glance at the clock, which read 11:01 PM. Then unfortunately we had to get ready for bed. We

did the usual bedtime routine, brush our teeth, get in PJs, and complain about going to sleep.

We all decided to sleep in my room, which had a bunk bed where me and my brother slept. My

brother slept on the bottom where Anthony also joined him. I slept on the top bunk with Trina. I

let her sleep on my pillow lying down, while I slept slouched over on my ladybug pillow. I

glanced over to my digital clock which read 12:03 AM. I fell asleep and didnt wake up until Trina

kicked me on my shoulder in her sleep. I rubbed my eyes and was about drift off to sleep until I

heard the sound of glass breaking.

My eyes flew open and I felt the sudden jolt of Trina next to me. I looked down and saw

Anthony was awake too, but my brother was still sound asleep. That boy could sleep through

anything.

What the heck was that? Anthony whispered to me, in a drowsy sort of tone.

I-I dont know. What time is it? Its 3 in the morning! My parents arent supposed to be-, I

stuttered, still waking up.

Who is it then!? Trina whispered sharply. Her eyes was full of worry now.

I decided to take a look for myself, but Trina grabbed my sleeve, her eyes filling with terror.

Hey, its fine. You stay and make sure my little bro is fine okay? Lock the door behind me

when I leave. She loosened her grip on my shoulder, but was still shaking. I noticed how cold it

was in the room. Well, it was in the middle of Winter Break so I wasnt payng attention to it.

Besides this situation was much more worrying then the temperature of my room. I pryed Trinas

shaking hands off of my sleeve, and made my way down the portable ladder of the bunk bed.

Anthony wanted to come with me, and I agreed once he said that he had a flashlight on his

keychain next to the bed. Trina climbed down to sit next to my sleeping brother.
I opened the door, but put a little pressure on the knob so that it doesnt make that

annoying squeak. I went out the door I signalled Trina to lock it behind us. We tiptoed outside

and hid behind the wall separating the living room to the kitchen. Anthony put a hand on my

shoulder and did the same. We waited for movement or noise, but then I realized my grave

mistake.

Oh Crap! I forgot to put the alarm on!

Anthony stared at me in shock.

No wonder why there was no alarm when someone entered. Usually when the alarm is on

a sensor goes off, an alarm sounds, and the police are immediately informed. We were on our

own now. Somehow, we had to sneak into the kitchen to grab a spare phone to call 911, if we

needed to. I just cant believe I was so stupid. I was so caught up in the sleepover, that I forgot

to do the simple thing my parents ask me to do whenever theyre out.

You stay here, and Ill go get the phone. You go and hide under the staircase, I said. He

nodded and did as was told. I quietly went around the edges of the walls to try to avoid being

seen just in case that person was here somewhere, listening to us God forbid. I grabbed the

phone, and stopped. I heard clattering upstairs. I looked up the staircase, the sound was pretty

hard to miss at this point. I tiptoed over to Anthony and showed him the phone. He gave me a

thumbs up and smiled as if he was relieved, which I definately was. I was about to dial 911

when I heard steps getting louder, as they were about to come down the stairs!

Me and Anthony had no choice but to hang up and run. We couldnt bust out the door,

knowing that the lock usually got stuck, making us put more effort in trying to turn the knob, it

was too risky. We bolted as quietly as we could into the guest room across from our room. We

hid under the bed which had the cloth covering the bottom of the bed so you couldnt see under

it. We reserved this room for guests, but right now, it was like a safe shelter. I felt my heart drop

into my stomach when I heard footsteps come down the stairs and stop. That person had some
nerve coming in here, and I hated myself at the moment for not remembering to put the alarm

on. Knowing me, I wont learn my lesson until something bad actually ever happens.

I saw Anthony trying to dial the phone, but as it turned on, it gave off light. He shut it off

and I could practically hear his heart pounding against the carpet floor. Please tell us that

person didnt see the light. I heard footsteps move closer to my room. Thank God, Trina locked

it because I could hear the knob turn about a forth of the way before the lock restricted it. I

prayed to God Trina wouldnt scream or my brother wouldnt wake up. However the nightmare

wasnt over yet. The footsteps came over to the closet in the guestroom we were in. I clutched

Anthonys hand in fear, and he held on to my shoulder with his free hand. He was shaking so

much and his breathing was loud, it was like he was going to have a heart attack. I wasnt

feeling any better, and I felt my eyes fill with tears. Just go away! Please leave!

He came over to our bed, and after that, silence. I squeezed Anthonys hand tighter and

gritted my teeth. No! The exit is that way! I was at this moment scared for my life. Then the bad

thing happened. A hand reached under the bed and began feeling around. We both jerked

backwards and by some miracle made no noice. I guess it got choked back by the absolute fear

we were having right now. I saw Anthonys face expression was so terrified, I must have been

making the same face as him right about now. I covered my shaking hand over my mouth and

prayed whoevers hand to go away. Unfortunately this guy wasnt through. Then what happened

next, all I can say is, that I dont want anybody to face this ever in their lives. The person put his

head under the blanket, and I saw he was a man. Hes seen us, at that moment we didnt

hesitate to scream. His face grew angry and he started grabbing at us. Anthony started

punching him, but in a horrific turn of events, that monster grabbed Anthonys hand and pulled

him out from under the bed with him screaming.

I scrambled out from under the bed and saw that Anthony was being slammed against a

wall. I looked frantically around the room to use anything as a weapon. I had to settle on the

desk lamp on the stool next to the bed. I took the cover part off of it, and lunged at the man. I hit
him in the head and heard him scream in agony. I looked at the now smashed bulb on the lamp,

and saw blood. I just smashed his head! He was knocked unconsious, which gave me enough

time to get Anthony and myself out of here. We went out the door and I locked it behind me,

grateful it had a lock only on the outside for some reason. I went into my room by picking the

lock with Anthonys keychain. I locked it behind me and saw that Trina was crying and my

brother, now awake, crying too.

Guys! Oh my God! Are you guys okay? Anthony, what happened to you!, Trina said,

rusing over to us, obviously full of a million questions seeking for answers. I looked at Anthony

who was rubbing the side of his cheek, it was bruised, and his lip was bleeding.

Whos here?! Whats going on?! Wheres mommy and-, brother began crying until I

shushed him.

Guys we have to call 911, theres a intruder in here!

I left the phone in the guest room, so I used Trinas phone. I told them everything, and they

asked me to stay on the line with them until the police came. Trina was tending to Anthonys

injuries with the first-aid kit I always keep in my room, while I was consoling my little brother.

I looked over at the digital clock, and it was almost 4 AM.

I never felt so relieved to hear police sirens outside. The police came into the room the

guy was in and found him still unconcious. They woke him with pepperspray, and arrested him.

All of our parents were there, and we were all hugged and comforted by them. We were all

questioned, and a lot of other things happened that I actually would define as another long story.

I looked up at the moon in the clear night sky, and was grateful for my life. I told everyone I was

sorry for what happened, and they smiled and said it wasnt my fault, although my mom was a

little angry of that I couldnt rememer something so simple. Trina gave me a friendly punch on

the shoulder and Anthony gave me a side hug and reminded me how I basically saved his life.

Although I still felt like I was at fault.

The police informed us that the man came in to rob the place so he could have some cash

with him. The police gave back the items he stole, and bid us goodbye. Anthony and Trina left

with there parents, and our parents decided wed all sleep in the same room tonight, which

wasnt a bad idea honestly. But I couldnt sleep that night, not with all the excitement we faced.

There was one thing that was bothering me though. One of the stolen items was a watch that

my dad lost 4 weeks ago, so he brought another one. What if..
