Materials
Acrylic DK and a 3.00mm hook or DMC Petra/
Perle size 5 and a 1.50mm hook, toy
stuffing or plastic canvas, tapestry needle
for sewing in ends.
My uppercase letters and numbers are
20cm/8ins tall when using yarn and
11cm/4ins when using thread. The
lowercase letters are sized to match
You will need to keep your tension tight if you
are going to stuff the letters.
General Notes
Turning 1ch: the 1ch at beginning of dc rows
is for turning only and not counted as a
stitch unless other wise stated.
Joining slip stitch: the slst used to join
rounds is not counted as a stitch and is not
worked into when you turn.
Starting chain: Always work into the back
loop of the starting chain unless otherwise
stated. This gives a neater finish, making
both the bottom and top of the work look
the same. When working into unused loops,
pick up both loops as you would when
working into the tops of other stitches.

Hanging loop

Hanging loop instructions are included on
every letter, two on some, for placement if
required.
It is only needed on every letter if you plan
to hang them all separately. You can work
out the best letters for them when
planning your name.
Stuffing
Stuffing the letters is optional. The double
thickness makes them sturdy enough but
stuffing gives them a more 3D effect. If
you prefer them flat but want them firmer,
plastic canvas can be used.
Joining
For each letter you will need to make two
pieces, the first one for the back and a
second for the front. Do not fasten off
after the front, place the front and back
together matching the stitches and work
the joining round through both pieces. If
you are stuffing the letters, it is easier to
do this as you go. If using plastic canvas,
you will need to cut this to shape and insert
between the pieces before joining.
