Cottbus, January 2014
Dear student,
here is some information about the ecclestiatical program kumenischer Notfonds.
The Emergnacy Fund are distributed and administered by the EKD Social Service Agency
(Diakonisches Werk). It consists of donations, mostly given by German Christians for people with
difficulties in third world countries. These donations are for the benefit of students from these
developing countries, who get into a predicament through no fault of their own.
Foreign students (not older than 35) from developing countries such as Asia, Africa and Latin America
(OECD list) can receive financial help in emergency situations.
The ESG (Evangelical Student Fellowship) applies for the money from the Diakonische Werk.
Therefore it is responsible for the complete and correct application. The Diakonische Werk checks
and grants the applications. There is no legal claim to the financial assistance.
The students need to be in a decisive period of their studies (examination at the end of a term,
intermediate exam, final exam, writing a final assignment or full-time practical training, which
excludes a side job), which needs to be proven.
An acute emergency situation must be given (illness accident, other events wich made
supplementary income activity impossible).
The successful end of the studies must be anounced to and documented at the ESG.
Financial support is possible only if the students have been in contact to the Student christian
fellowship (ESG) for a longer time or take part in activities of the STUBE program.
The Student christian fellowship in Cottbus invites you warmly
(every Tuesday at 7.30 p.m., Schillerstrae 56).

What is necessary to apply?
If this ist not your first application, you have to take part at least in a seminar with themes about
third world aid policy, for example the STUBE in Berlin. Without this proof a second support is
impossible. Information about the STUBE program you can get from:
Esteban Chavez Guevara
Borsigstrae 5, 10115 Berlin
E-Mail: stube@esgberlin.de
Telefon: (030) 275 72 380
(further informations: http://www.esgberlin.de/ )
Please note, that there is no legal claim to a grant. If the collected documents are incomplete,
false or delivered up to late, or the described difficulty is not convincing, a grant will be
impossible. The student alone is responsible for the completeness and the correctness of the
information in the file and for the punctuality of the handing in of the documents. The file must
be sent off before your examinations will begin! All applications handed over to the Student
pastor in the course of a current month will be sent to Berlin in the last week of the month. The
processing of the applications can last several weeks there. Please dont inquire before this
time has passed!
