General Concept

Concrete Jungles. Being surrounded by overpowering buildings and the constant feeling of anonymity. The per-
spective is visualised from a person on the streets looking up at the immense architecture. The outfits mimic the
idea of melting into the environment. This effect is emphasised with through the various widths of the garments,
which also plays with the elongation of the body. The width of the garments is also played with through the pan-
els in the garments which recreates the overlayering buildings.

The layering of panels as well as garments visualises the idea of an overcrowding city that makes one feel small,
this is accenuated through the vanishing perspecctives of the garments.

Design Concept

The print that was motivated from the architectural structures is a reoccurring element as it plays with illusions
and perspectives. A key component of this collection is the silhouette which imitates the vanishing points of
buildings. The colour scheme was stimulated by neutral colours found in cityscapes. A constant element that runs
throughout the is the choice of fabric, as they are all structured as well as have a certain stiffness to it. The struc-
ture on some of the fabrics is further emphasised my the two repeat prints from the collection.

Description Details Details Description

Long sleeved blouse with a hidden button placket as closure, running through center
front from neck till 5cm under breast height. The focus of the blouse was to use seam
manipulation and print to create a perception of over crowded buildings and struc-
tures.
The blouse is finished with shirt cuffs that are closed with a rooftop vent.
High waisted flared trousers focusing on the detail of the extended pleat. The structure
is broken through the short waistband overpowered by the pleat, with an American fly
closure.
The elongation of the trousers are continuously emphasised through the in-seam pipe
pockets. Extra detail is also created in the trousers through the welt pockets in the
back of the trousers.

Description Details Details Description

Asymmetrical oversized trench coat, which increase in volume as the coat grows in
length. This coat carries the conventional elements of a trench coat such as; the double
breasted closure, cuffs, belt, rain guard as well as the overlapping collar and gun flap.
Both the gun flap and collar carry the three dimensional element of the vanishing
points. The details are further emphasised through the welt pocket that follows the
same shape as the overall coat.
This asymmetrical dress is made up of various panels that create the silhouette of
over-layering buildings.
The closure of this dress is a visible shirt button placket that runs from the shoulder
point to the waist, as well as an overlap by the closure of the shirt collar. The overall
silhouette of the garment is used to stretch the proportions of the human body, as the
dress flares at the hemline.

Details Description

Symmetrical flared overall with a pleat running from the shoulder seam to the hemline,
with this element the elongation of the body.

The back of the overall is constructed with seam manipulation. The structured hem-
line is used to focus on the perspective that is created by the buildings. The closure of
this garment is an invisible zipper which runs down center back. A welt pocket is also
another element which is hidden behind the pleat that follows the same shape and
volume as the garment.
