how to increase bearing capacity of
soil?
1. The bearing capacity of soil is increased by cement and lime grouting method, in which cement or lime is
add with the soil which increase the bearing capacity of soil this is more commonly used in ROAD
projects, this process is known as GROUTING METHODER.
2. Bearing capacity of soils can be increased by compaction and grouting methods.
3. Another alternative way to increase bearing capacity of soil is, by using carbon nano tube (cnt), which is
add to the soil. The surface area of the cnt will stregthen the soil even if we use in small quantity.
4. yes, but ground improvement technics are adapted for location of site
5. A method for increasing the bearing capacity of foundation soils for built structures consisting of providing
a plurality of holes spaced from each other deep in the soil, and injecting into the soil, through the holes,
a substance which expands as a consequence of a chemical reaction, with a potential increase in volume
of at least five times the volume of the substance before expansion. The expansion of the substance
injected into the soil produces compaction of the contiguous soil.
6. To improve the bearing capacity of soil, one of the following methods can be used.
1. Vibro Floatation Technique
2. Repalce the existing soil with road base materials and compact in layers to attain the required bearing
capacity of soil.
3. Replace the existing soil with cement mix soil and compact in layers with water to attain the required
bearing capacity.
4. Vibro Replacement Technique
Why we do design mix of concrete when there is
nominal method using the IS-Code available ?
to save an optimum content of cement, from 7.5 to 8 bags
of cement to 6.6 bags of cement per CuM
to achieve economy and safety
To acheive best possible concrete with the ingredients
available at particular location design mix is used.
to ensure required |Target Mean Strength by controlling the
parameters of aggregate, sand and water accurately ....n
also to design higher grade of concrete ... ....incase of
nominal mis method(say),M15 means 15mpa
comp.srength on 28 days using 1:2:4 proportions without
considering various conditions of conareting materials
...the same will be rectified in design mix . simply nominal
mix is blind technique where as design mix is live n vibrant
method of mix design in concrete technology to achieve
anticipated TMS.
what is the design mix of M5 m means the number of mix & 5 refers to the
strength of concrete block of size 150x150x150 mm after curing of 28days.
Important term in the question is "Design mix".
You see there is a term "Nominal mix" in concrete which is pertaining to certain
standards and thumbrules with respect to properties of concrete materials such
as aggregate, sand, cement, water and admixtures.
However in order to get the most economic/workable mix of the concrete, it is
designed and tested in different proportions by having taken care of exact
physical & chemical properties of the ingredients. That is called the design mix of
any grade of concrete.
Now normally M5 is used in PCC and hence design mix is not done for the same
but for grades M15 and above.
what is the design mix of M5 m means grade of concrete refers to the strength
of concrete block of size 150x150x150 mm after curing of 28days. which is called
as M5 M=mega pascal = N/mm2 or M5=5 N/mm2
What are the duties and responsibilities of a site engineer at the
oil refinery rehabilitation?
Latest Answer : first to check the site plan.and mention the site
area then check the soil bearing capacity.chek the site earth
level.and prepare the level chart.approved from consultant and
take site order.start the earth work as drawing.check total
dimention and design. ...
How is the location of a structure on a site determined?
Latest Answer : The location of the structure depends on the
geographical factors such as soil, topography, and vegitation
affects. Sencory factors, climate factors, and codes and
regulations also play a big roll in positioning the structure. ...

In case of a beam ,main steel is provided along the longer span because,
bending moment is directly proportional to length but why in case of one
way slab main steel is provided along shorter span while as bending takes
place along longer span?comment
in beam the breadth is small so no need for
distributionreinforcement, but in slab load will not be
distributed like beam....
The primary load transfer direction will be in the
shorter span and as a result large negative bending
moments will occur at these supports. Therefore
reinforcing steel is required to cross these supports
rather than the ones with less load transfer, which
occur in the supports with longer span.
The Bending moment in Oneway slab along shorter
span is much lesser than the longer span. It
proportional to the square of the span of the slab.
Even we can have main steel along the longer span
but it leads to uneconomical.
what is anchorage? Why anchoring of reinforcing
bars necessary and what are the shapes ?
Anchoring of reinforcing bars is necessary when
the development length of the reinforcement is
larger than the structure. Anchorage is used so
that the steel's intended tension load can be
reached and pop-outs will not occur. Anchorage
shapes can take the form of 180 or 90 degree
hooks.

Define Orientation of building?
The main diffrence are for the highway pavement more width of road provided than
local road , thickness of road is also more than local road, all the cautionary
,mandatory &informatery signs available in highway road comparing with local road
& fund providing agencies to highway are sate{ P.W.D.}& central govt in case of
local road like Z.P.& Gram Panchayat
raiding surface
for higway pavements the design is done based on the IRC recommendations and
all the geometric requirements are maintained.it is rigid pavement. all laboratory
based tests were carried out for the design of pavement. in case of local soil there
no requirement of carring laboratory based tests. it is a flexible pavement.
high way pavement connects states where as local road connects local area.
highway pavements are made to bear high speed rolling loads while street roads
are made for light loads.
what is poissons ration of steel?
0.27 to .33
Poisson ratio is the ratio of the longitudinal strain
to the lateral strain. For steel it's value is 0.3.
