PS II Revised Practicum Goals

1. Practice summarizing the program of study into succinct, focused concepts to
emphasize what is most important in instruction, and teach these concepts in
an efficient way
o In my unit plans, I will summarize the program of study into succinct
points that will guide my instruction
o I will create lesson plans that bring in effective teaching strategies to
help students internalize key concepts

2. Connect with students and communicate with them regularly to motivate

them keep learning at an efficient pace while maintaining a professional
relationship
o I will communicate with students via email when they miss class
o I will understand where students should be in the course material and
the pace that they will need to keep to complete their courses
o I will get to know students interests and abilities and incorporate them
into my lessons
o I will interact with every student who comes into the centre, checking
in on students that I am working with

3. Develop resources that will be helpful for future classes in the school
o At least three times a week, I will make up a practice worksheet or
activity for students that is not from another source
o I will analyze the effectiveness of these resources and adjust them as
necessary
