Department of Civil Engineering (JKA) is one of eight departments in Sarawak Kuching Polytechnic (SMEs). The mission of the department is to
produce a semi-professional graduates who can provide the best service whether in the public or private sector.
Programs Offered

Polytechnic Kuching, Sarawak (SMEs) are the five polytechnics established under the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia. SME offers 13
diploma programs, led by Mrs. Ong Guat Leng as Director.
Polytechnic Kuching, Sarawak (SMEs) was established in 1988. Establishment in accordance with the objective to meet the needs of trained
manpower resources to meet the nation's aspirations towards industrialization, thereby improving competitiveness in the world market. At its
inception, SMEs operate in a shophouse building in Simpang Tiga, Kuching with the main helm Mr. Mustapa Bin Mohamed as the first
Principal. Development followed by the selection of the permanent campus by the State Industrial Development Ministry in collaboration with the
Ministry of Education in the area of Lot 88 Matang Land District as a permanent campus SMEs with a land area of 112 acres. Located about 23
kilometers from Kuching city center and its position in Serapi Mountain National Park, adjacent to the Dome gives an appropriate and conducive
environment for learning and teaching and the development of students' personality.
In the early stages of the first intake of students in July 1989, a total of 204 students have been offered places. The courses offered at that time
was as follows:
Certificate in Civil Engineering (Construction).
Diploma in Accountancy
