Student Project Proposal

Proposal:

I will work with my mentor, Dr. VandenBussche, once he returns from paternity leave to

determine the exact subject I will be working on for my research. I will then produce a scientific

manuscript in the field of cytopathology that will then be ready to be submitted to a scientific

journal for publishing, with the audience being the scientific community. Through outside

research of scientific journals, cytopathology textbook, and hands-on research at my internship

working on the specific subject, I will be able to gather the information for my paper. My mentor

will be extremely important to guide me through the steps of writing a scientific paper as well as

helping me do the actual work to be able to write the paper. As cytopathologists require extra

training from medical school, Dr. VandenBussche will review all my work to ensure its accuracy.

Timeline:

During February, I will work with Dr. VandenBussche to determine the actual subject that

I will be researching and working on to make the manuscript. Once I have determined the exact

topic, I can begin my preliminary research. Then in March, I will focus on obtaining all the

information that I need for the manuscript, and will research a lot to learn more about my

specific topic so I will be informed enough to write the manuscript. By April, the information

and research will have been completed so that I will spend it drafting the manuscript including

all this information. I will collaborate with my mentor to ensure it follows the correct format, and

contains all the information that it needs. Finally, for May the actual manuscript will be finished

for May 2nd Celebration of Excellence, and then will be submitted to a scientific journal to be

published in the scientific field.
