Ahmedabad: A city-based
woman has filed a complaint
against her husband and in-
laws for torturing her as she
was the mother of two girls,
and had failed to give birth to
a male child.
She has also alleged that
during her second pregnan-
cy, her in-laws had urged her
to undergo a prenatal sex de-
termination test, which she
had refused. When her se-
cond child, too, turned out to
be a girl, the family had tur-
ned vicious.
The woman Nancy (name
changed) has lod-
ged a compla-
int with wo-
mens police

sections 498C,
323, 506(1) and
114 of the IPC
against her
husband, fat-
her-in-law and
mother-in-law.
Police officials said they
have registered an FIR and
will take action once the de-
tails mentioned in the FIR
have been verified.
According to the compla-
int, the 37-year-old woman,
hailing from Nasik, was
married to one Manoj Vaghe-
la (name changed) of Anand
in May 2003.
After marriage, she used
to live in Mumbai, as her hus-
band worked in a private
company there. A year after
marriage, Nancy gave birth
to a girl, said a police offici-

Nancy has alleged in her
complaint that neither her
husband nor her in laws we-
re affectionate towards the
girl and taunted Nancy for
failing to give birth to a boy,
said a police official, adding
that the complaint mentio-
ned her husband used to tor-
ture her daily demanding

Train attendant restores `6.15L to owners

Ahmedabad: An attendant found an unattended bag
belonging to two passengers in New Delhi-Ahmedabad

Kubernagar man wanted

Ahmedabad: City crime branch sleuths on Sunday ar-
rested Sushil Garange, resident of Kubernagar, who was
long wanted several incidents of robbery and theft. Sour-
ces said the police had recovered from Garange Rs 1 lakh
in cash and a motorbike which he used to commit crime.
Police officials said that during preliminary interro-
gation, it had come to light that Garange, along with his
accomplice Gopal Gagdekar, had chased a car in Anand
district of Gujarat. They wanted to rob the occupants of
the car, the police officials said.
But the car driver did not stop, a crime branch offici-
al said. Later, the two criminals followed the car and
when the driver parked the car inside a complex, Gopal
broke one of the vehicles windows and stole a bag contai-
ning Rs 4.50 lakh. The two then came back to Ahmed-
abad.
Garange has a criminal record and was earlier arres-
ted for similar offences in Ellisbrige and Odhav in Ah-
medabad and Malad in Mumbai.
Garange has been also detained under the Preven-
tion of Anti-Social Act (PASA). He had spent a few
months in Bhuj jail, a police official said.
Sources in the police said Garange is also wanted in
two cases of robbery by the Shaherkotda police station of
the city.
Garange and his accomplice used to snatch bags and
other valuables hanging from the hooks of two-wheelers.
