TPS have four rules that under pin the effectiveness of their system.

In what way these four rules

interconnect?

Rule 1
State about how people work in the organisation, it said that all the work will be specified as
sequence , timing , outcome and make it as sequence for specific job. rule 1 also include worker to
test hypothesis through action then determine the problem and indicate the source whether the
process need to be redesign or worker need to be trained.

Rule 2
The rule explained how people doing their work with connecting to one another and every
connection need to be direct and standardised. This rule created supplier and customer
relationship who providing goods or service. The key is to make people respond the request with
the given time leads to have an ability to respond immediately and solve the problem with cycle
time. Constantly keep on tracking the connection will bring the system more flexible and be ready
respond constructively and continually.

Rule 3
All the production lines need to be set up with less complex and more specific process the
process should not be changed unless it is redesigned. It also stated that good and service has to
flow to specific person or machine so at Toyota, they have production line that designed for working
many types of product not for only one. The rule will also ensure that the test will occur in each
every time the process has been used. Supplier need to connected to the pathway.

Rule 4
Any improvement need to be based on scientific method under supervision in a lowest cost
as much as possible.

In conclusion all these four rules have some similar points which are making the process to
be more flexible and has ability to respond quickly according to the customer demand also keep on
conducting the experiment to avoid any mistakes that may occur during the process finally
identifying the cause of the problem then solve that problem based on the reliable method follow by
the guidance step by step so the process need to be standardised , simple , less cycle time at
lowest cost possible.
