Lesson Title: Student Handbook and Shop Rules

Lesson Performance Objective: Given a lesson and handouts, the


students will know all shop rules and all course rules for the school
year ahead.

Time (length of lesson): 30 minutes

Summary: Students will review shop and class rule sheets and know
what is expected from them in the BCO classroom. Sheets will be
posted on walls and handed out to students for reference.
Student that are entering this program of study will be required to
provide at their own cost supplies for this class.
They will be required to every day have the following items.
1. TAPE RULE to be supplied by the student. Can be purchased
at the office for a fee.
2. Pencil to be supplied by the students. They can be purchased
at the office for a fee.
3. Safety glasses. 1st. year students are supplied a pair by the
class upon entering program. Then students must have their
own. Safety glasses can be purchased at the office for a fee.
4. Nail Apron a nail apron will be supplied by the CTC to
purchase for a fee or to be used and returned at the end of the
year.
5. Work boots are to be worn every day.
6. Long pants are to be worn every day.
7. Lockers will be assigned the first week to store glasses, books,
boots, etc.
8. Daily log book to be completed every day. It must be detailed
on what was done and needs to have the day and date on it.
Book is graded each week. Points are taken off for leaving
books out, incomplete bookwork, etc.
9. Daily Observation Grade will be given each week based on all
things above and how well they work, listen, follow rules, etc. in
the shop and classroom.
Daily observance grades will be given each week. Part of that grade
is if they are prepared for class, have all tools required for the task
that they are to do, work habits, etc.

1. Respect each other, Respect the
vo-tech, and Respect the teacher.
2. Use your manners with others, be
quiet while others are talking.
3. Must complete all assignments,
including days missed.
4. Obey all shop safety rules, No
exceptions.
5. No foul language.
6. Must have a pencil in classroom
and shop.
7. If chewing gum, when finished with
it, put it in the trash can.
8. Garbage from break time must be
put in trash can by end of break.
9. Teachers desk and filing cabinets
are off limits to all students.
10. Anyone caught pushing the red
emergency off button in the shop area
will be sent to the office and dealt with
by Mr. Young.

Shop Rules
You must wear approved clothing and shoes.
Safety Glasses must be worn in shop area.
No tools are to be used without instructors
permission.
Safety rules must be followed for power and
hand equipment. Failure to use properly will
be re-tested on safety before any use again.
Any tool damaged by students intentionally-
that student is responsible for all costs to
repair or replace.
Ear protection must be worn while using
power tools.
No running in shop
