This is a list of the Habits 1-3 and suggestions for how to implement them at home for your childs social and academic success
Habit 1: (BE PROACTIVE) Stop and Think
Early Childhood (prek - kinder)
1. Have a job at home (keep room clean or set the table) 2. Lay out clothes for school the night before 3. Write thank you cards when given a gift 4. Help with evening meals: make salad (tearing lettuce and cutting vegetables) 5. Dusting, sweeping, watering plants, feeding animals, doing dishes, getting the mail 6. Fold laundry
Lower/Upper Elementary (1st - 5th grade)
1. Prepare lunch/snacks for school the night before 2. Lay out clothes for school the night before 3. Set an alarm for school Middle School (6th - 8th grade) 1. Use a planner/calendar to schedule work 2. Prepare backpack with necessary materials 3. Complete 2-3 chores at home (take out trash, set table, feed dog) 4. Wash the car, dog 5. Help with yard work; mow, trim bushes, rake,sweep, water 6. Plan and prepare meals 7. Do laundry 8. Clean the bathroom 9. Help facilitate family meetings 10. Help plan a fire escape route/plan of action for emergencies

Early Childhood (prek - kinder)
1. Make a schedule for morning routines. 2. Have a set bedtime routine and follow it 3. Parents look over your childs work with them and praise them for their efforts Lower/Upper Elementary (1st - 5th grade) 1. Schedule homework time 2. Do things together as a family 3. Plan and facilitate monthly family meetings Middle School (6th - 8th grade) 1. Schedule after school time in planner (homework, relaxing time, etc.) 2. Volunteer at school/community
Habit 3: (Put first things first)
Early Childhood (prek - kinder) 1. Help to make a grocery list 2. Set a goal for completing chores and do something special when complete Lower/Upper Elementary (1st - 5th grade) 1. Schedule homework time and playtime 2. Have a chore list (fold laundry, set table, take out the trash) Middle School (6th - 8th grade) 1. Prioritize schedule 2. Identify your big rocks (planning what has to be done) 3. Work first then play
