I bolted out the door, holding the side of my face, squeezing my eyes shut to
stop the flow of tears. I hate my life I thought. I hate myself. When will it
end?

This passage means that James is fed up with his problems and
wishes he can just end the pain he has inside. For example, this
reminds me when I had a breaking point in my life. However, I
didnt know what to do, so I just sat there crying my eyes out
wanting my pain to end right in that moment.

Someday, I want a girl to take me seriously enough to trust me and fall in love
with me.

This passage means that James wants to be taken seriously by

someone who accepts who he really is. For example, I watched a
movie called Crazy Beautiful that can relate to this passage.
However, the movie is about a young girl who falls in love with a guy
and accepts who he is. In addition, the young guy is grateful that he
found someone who trusts him and loves him for who he is.
 Physical Abuse - The power of Self-esteem

The muscles in my arms and chest flex and tighten, ready for action. Its a new feelings,
and for the first time in my life i think I could really hurt someone.

This passage means that James lost his temper because of Antwon and his
friends kept bothering James telling him rude things that hurt his feelings.
However, this passage reminds me about the movie The Karate Kid. In
addition, the young boy got tired of getting bullied and took karate classes
to defend himself. Therefore, James started lifting up weights to gain
strength to defend himself.
Betrayal - Becareful who you trust
 Betrayal- Chapter 11, Page 43 (Paragraph 2)
Louiss car backs into a drive away and turns around. I watch the taillights fade as
he turns a corner and disappears.

This passage is about James's brother Louis who betrayed him by leaving
him when he got caught with the drugs by the police. In addition, James
watched his brother leave the scene and felt very betrayed by his own
blood. However, I can relate because a few years ago my own best friend
betrayed by talking behind my back. Therefore, be careful who you trust
and who you become close too.
System - Juvenile isnt the place to be in
 System - Chapter 22, Page 88 (Paragraph 1)
Im trying to remember the daily schedule, which is posted on the wall outside the
staff office. It never changes except for on weekends when we have leisure and rec
in place of school.

This passage means that James is trying his best to remember the juvenile
schedule that the system gives them to follow everyday. However, James is
barely getting used to the juvenile system schedule. In addition, This passage
reminds me about when my brother told us how the system was when he
was in juvenile for a few months. He said it was way too active and they had
to wake up very early and start their day.
Hate (Gay)- Be proud for who you are
 Hate (Gay)- Chapter 56, Page 230 (Paragraph 4)
Just promise me something. Promise youll find my mother and tell her Im
sorry.

This passage means that Freddy had problems going on at the moment.
However, Freddy asked James for a favor which was to find his mother and
tell her that he was so sorry for all the wrong things he did to disappoint
her. In addition, I watched a show called Finding Carter which was about
a young girl who made bad choices and wanted to tell her family that she
was truly sorry for everything she has done.

Wrong Choices (mistakes)- Chapter 11, Page 41 (paragraph 2)

I walk away toward the next house on the route. I give people their drugs and
collect.

This passage means that James is making a bad choice by delivering drugs
to strangers who buy it off of him. However, James is getting involve in a
dangerous situation that can affect his future. In addition, this passage
reminds me of when I was making bad choices in my life. For instance,
when I was in middle school I wouldnt pay attention in class or I wouldnt
care about important things. However, my family made me realize that
wasting time can really affect my future in many horrible ways.
Supportive Individuals- Surround yourself with positive
people
Supportive Individuals- Chapter 46, Page 188 (Paragraph 1)

After several weeks of working out with Samso, I am finally changing, getting
stronger and visibly bigger.

This passage is about Samson helping James get stronger and bigger.
However, Samson is a very supportive person towards James because he
is actually helping James gain a lot of strength. For example, my family
teached me many things and was very supportive towards me.
