GALACTIC SECURITY AGENCY

Written by

Gerald Prophete
FADE IN TO:

EXT. BEKENSTEIN LABS AND RESEARCH - CONTINUOUS

The clouds pull open in front of us and down below is

BEKENSTEIN LABS & RESEARCH, a large chemical research
facility made up of machinery and pipes with a few parking
garages and parking spots for employees.

Several ARMED GUARDS patrol the grounds.

EXT. MILITARY DROPSHIP - CONTINUOUS

A MILITARY DROPSHIP hovers ominously overhead.

INT. BEKENSTEIN LOBBY - CONTINUOUS

A GUARD works at the front desk.

Two people enter the lobby through the revolving doors.

MAGGIE, twenties, supports the weight of a MAN, who looks to

be injured.

MAGGIE
Somebody help us! Get help!

The Guard shoots up from his desk and approaches the couple.

GUARD
Ma'am, calm down. What happened?

MAGGIE
I don't know. We were just walking
down the street, and then...

KYLE, twenties, faking the injury the whole time, looks up..

MAGGIE (cont'd)
BAM!

...SHOOTS the guard in the head with a SILENCER. He falls to

the floor.

MAGGIE (cont'd)
He was on the ground.

KYLE
Not bad.
2.

MAGGIE
Told you those acting lessons would
come in handy one day.

Kyle goes behind the desk, getting on the computer.

MAGGIE (cont'd)
You got this?

KYLE
You didn't drag me along for my good
looks, right?

Maggie chuckles and gets on a CB Radio.

MAGGIE
We're in.

EXT. MILITARY DROPSHIP - CONTINUOUS

The side door opens and THREE PEOPLE jump out and PARACHUTE
TO THE GROUND!

EXT. BEKENSTEIN PARKING LOT - CONTINUOUS

The Three safely land on the ground, but are soon confronted
by the Security Guards.

Before they can react, they're SHOT DOWN from above.

EXT. MILITARY DROPSHIP - CONTINUOUS

A GUNNER controls a MINIGUN, shooting down security guards.

EXT. BEKENSTEIN PARKING LOT - CONTINUOUS

The Three unhook their restraints and remove their masks.

We can now put names to faces:

MIKA, thirties, a deadly JAPANESE beauty.

VAUGHAN, forties, a muscular man with a bushy beard. A

silent brute carrying a gun the size of his arm.

And finally...
3.

THANE. Tall. Broad. An alien with dark purple skin, a

synthetic, robot limb where his left arm used to be, and the
look of a man you had better not fuck with.

Mika gets on a CB Radio. Speaking in JAPANESE.

MIKA
We got it from here. Meet us at the
rendezvous point.

EXT. SKY - CONTINUOUS

The Dropship flies away.

EXT. BEKENSTEIN PARKING LOT - CONTINUOUS

Thane gets on the CB Radio.

THANE
Progress?

KYLE (O.S.)
All alarms disabled. We've got some
guards inside, waiting on you.

THANE
We'll handle that.
(to the team)
Let's move.

The team approaches the doors to the facility.

Thane pulls out two vials of this Blue liquid, tosses them
towards the doors and...

BOOOOOOOOM! The Doors blow open on impact!

INT. BEKENSTEIN FACILITY - CONTINUOUS

Thane leads them in, immediately greeted by several Guards

with their weapons pointed.

Vaughan steps forward and starts opening fire, with that

massive gun of his, shooting everybody down.

Everybody's dead. Vaughan turns to Thane and Mika.

THANE
Nicely done.
4.

Once the path is clear, they move through sets of doors, and
up some stairs until they reach...

INT. HALLWAY, BEKENSTEIN - CONTINUOUS

A long hallway with a set of LOCKED double doors at the end

with "TOP SECRET" on it.

THANE
(into the radio)
We're here. Open them.

The wall panel changes from RED to GREEN. The Doors open.

INT. CHAMBER ROOM, BEKENSTEIN - CONTINUOUS

Thane's team enters the room to find ELEMENT ZERO, a rare

mineral encased in a glass structure held in this metal
containment device machine.

The mineral envelops the entire room in a bright Blue glow.

Vaughan turns his head, sensing the Guard's footsteps.

VAUGHAN
People coming.

THANE
(to Mika)
Would you like to take this one?

Mika smirks and exits the room.

Thane steps towards the machine with a METAL BRIEFCASE.

He opens it and puts on these METAL GLOVES, safely plucks

the Element Zero from the machine, and puts it in the case.

INT. HALLWAY, BEKENSTEIN - CONTINUOUS

A bunch of Guards close in on the Chamber room.

Mika waits for them. She opens her trench coat and we see...

DOZENS OF KNIVES. All shapes and sizes.

She RUSHES them, dodging gunfire and slinging knives that

slice down several guards. A scary blend of blazing speed
and accuracy.
5.

Thane and Vaughan meet back up with her in the Hallway.

MIKA
(in Japanese)
We're good here.

MAGGIE (O.S.)
Thane, we got a swarm of hostiles
coming your way and fast!

THANE
Get out of there. We'll get to the
tunnels as fast as we can.

INT. HALLWAY, BEKENSTEIN - CONTINUOUS

The three of them make their way towards the elevator at the
end of the Hallway.

A Guard turns the corner after them. Mika hurls a knife that
catches the Guard right IN THE FACE!

They load up in the Elevator and take it down.

INT. BEKENSTEIN FACILITY - CONTINUOUS

A Horde of Guards stumble upon the grizzly scene -- flaming

wreckage and scattered corpses.

GUARD
Find them!

EXT. BEKENSTEIN ENTRANCE - CONTINUOUS

Kyle and Maggie exit the facility and board their Hover Car,
peeling out as fast they can.

INT. COOLING TUNNEL, BEKENSTEIN - CONTINUOUS

Inside a dimly lit, murky tunnel deep below the facility,

Thane and Co. put on breather helmets and dive into the
water one at a time.

INT. BEKENSTEIN FACILITY - CONTINUOUS

The Guards sprint through the facility, not locating any of

the intruders, but finding plenty of dead bodies.
6.

INT. UNDERWATER TUNNELS - CONTINUOUS

Thane's team swims through the deep waters, until they reach
the open water, and make their way up to the surface.

EXT. BEACH - DAY

The team comes up out of the water and walk onto the sand,
removing their breather helmets.

Vaughan shoots a FLARE with his Flare Gun into the air.

The Dropship is suddenly seen overhead as it carefully

touches down on the surface. They all load in.

EXT. SKY - CONTINUOUS

The Dropship disappears into the clouds.

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. SPACE - LATER

A Starship cuts through space, ZOOMING past us, and flying

toward a familiar Blue planet, EARTH.

EXT. ABANDONED AIR BASE - DAY

An Air Base that was once used frequently now has a new
purpose. The ground OPENS UP, allowing the starship to fly
right beneath as it closes up again once it's through.
Almost like it swallowed the ship whole.

INT. UNDERGROUND TUNNELS - LATER

Following the Spacecraft as it travels through a long

underground tunnel with lights above.

AYA, a VIRTUAL INTELLIGENCE PROGRAM appearing as two

HOLOGRAMS, standing on opposite sides of the checkpoint.

The window hatch opens revealing...

MELINDA MARTEL, thirties, confident and resilient, and

looking stunning in an excellent suit.

She whips off her shades, speaking with a BRITISH ACCENT.

7.

MELINDA
Galactic Security Agent Melinda
Martel. Clearance Level 10.

She extends her KEY CARD out of the window. A Green LASER
LIGHT shines over it, then her face.

AYA:
Cleared for entry. Welcome back, Ms.
Martel.

Melinda drives on past. A large set of Metal Doors open in

the distance and a radiant light greets us and blinds us.

BRIGHT WHITE
FLASH TO:

EXT. GSA HEADQUARTERS - CONTINUOUS

What looks like a Boarding school, is in reality, this

mysterious location...

The Headquarters for the GALACTIC SECURITY AGENCY!!

Several buildings stationed around the area like a campus.

There's a Monastery, Tuscan columns at the main entrance, a

Belltower at the center, and a HUGE Spaceport in the
distance.

The RECRUITS are a healthy blend of both Humans and Aliens,

training and being put through the wringer. Almost like a
Boot Camp of sorts, prepping these young kids to be the next
generation of agents.

TEENAGERS running in formation led by a DRILL INSTRUCTOR.

A MALE TEENAGER is practicing Boxing Pad Workout drills.

In the SHOOTING FIELD, the WEAPONS INSTRUCTOR patrols as

boys and girls SHOOT blasters at targets.

A group of teens -- aliens and humans mixed -- stand by one

of the DORMITORIES before..

DALTON KING, forties, a handsome, muscular man.

And FAYE. Extremely attractive. Voluptuous. She's an Angoran

with dark skin, thick, white hair, and long leporine ears
covered in white fur, making her seem taller than she is.
8.

Settling on one girl -- REBECCA HARPER. Seventeen. An inter-

species teenager. Glasses. Black hair over her pointed ears.
Green-hazel eyes. Horns in her head that are beginning to
curl into a shape resembling a rams.

She looks up as an Alien on a JET PACK flies overhead.

DALTON
...and with the increasing rate of
attacks and overall space crimes in
the galaxy, the Council funded and
created the Galactic Security Agency.
Our responsibility is to preserve
Galactic Stability by any means
necessary.

FAYE
Directly in front of you are the
dorms where you'll be living at for
the next year. If you can't handle
it, you're free to leave at any time,
but you will not be allowed to come
back. The Cafeteria is right next to
it. We just passed the training yard.
The workshop with all our weapons and
gadgets are on the far side. And the
classrooms are across from the dorms.
So lateness will be unacceptable.

DALTON
There other subdivisions within the
GSA. Including weapons training,
you'll be learning Medicine, computer
technology, and a little science.

FAYE
But at the same time, you'll learn
Kung-Fu, Sword-Fencing, Botany,
Boxing. We'll even show you how to
fly your own ship.

HARPER
YES!

Everybody gives her a look.

HARPER (cont'd)
Sorry, it's just... I've always
wanted to fly one.
9.

FAYE
You do your part and act right,
you'll be in the same position Dalton
and I are in one day.

TEEN
What's that, standing around and
talking?

Faye and Dalton trade looks.

FAYE
He's funny.

DALTON
He's a cunt.

Harper raises her hand.

FAYE
Yes, Ms. Harper?

HARPER
Are we going to meet other agents?

FAYE
I'm glad you asked that. Something
new we're trying is each new recruit
will have the opportunity to shadow
one of our agents for a week.
(looking off-screen)
Speaking of. Hey, you!

Melinda enters frame, approaching the group. A Gold GSA

badge at her hip along with dual Metaba Unica 6
Autorevolvers tucker in her holsters.

MELINDA
Afternoon Dalton, Faye.
(off the recruits
look)
Who do we have here?

DALTON
Fresh meat.

FAYE
The new recruits, he means.
Everybody, this is--

HARPER
Melinda Martel!
10.

Harper looks starstruck and runs up to Melinda.

HARPER (cont'd)
My name is Rebecca Harper. I read all
about you in the Hostage situation on
Meridian. You're the whole reason I
wanted to join the Agency.

MELINDA
I'm very flattered. It's a pleasure
to meet you.

HARPER
(squealing)
Thanks!

DALTON
It's a good thing you're here.
Montgomery's been asking for you.

MELINDA
What happened?

INT. MAIN BUILDING HALLWAY, GSA HEADQUARTERS - CONTINUOUS

Melinda strides down a long hallway, dotted with lights on

the walls, along with several portraits. Chandeliers hang
from the sky. A regal feeling to it.

The double doors at the end of the hall BURST OPEN.

A MAN is being dragged by two OFFICERS kicking and

screaming.

MAN
Please, you have to believe me!
They're coming! They're coming!

Melinda stops them.

MELINDA
Is everything alright?

He grabs Melinda by the arms. A look of fright.

RAMBLING MAN
I know what I saw, but they don't
believe me. I'm not lying. They're at
the edge of dark space. I've seen
them. Reapers. Monsters. Thousands of
them. They've slaughtered hundreds.
You have to tell them. Warn them!
11.

MR. MONTGOMERY (O.S.)

Get him out of here!

ALLAN MONTGOMERY, late fifties, THE GSA DIRECTOR. A youthful

and dignified look for someone of his age. He shouts from
the doorway to have the rambling man hauled off.

RAMBLING MAN
No! Please, no! Let me go! They'll
kill us all! Please!

Melinda watches in equal parts confusion, worry, and horror

as the officers drag the Man away, screaming and ranting.

MELINDA
What was that man rambling about?
Reapers?

MR. MONTGOMERY
Never mind him. A silly old wives
tale. The man is a deserter and known
drug user. One of his hallucinations
for all we know. Come, we must
discuss matters practical.

INT. BOARD ROOM, GSA HEADQUARTERS - DAY

Inside a Board Room that has an elegant feel to it. Lavish

decor. Portraits hang on the walls. A long Wooden Table is
lined with chairs on either side.

A 3D Holographic projection of THANE appears in the center

of the table.

Melinda is seated as Montgomery speaks:

MR. MONTGOMERY
The terrorist has been identified as
Thane Korvax, a former Galactic
Security Operative, as well as the
last living member of the Luscian
Alien species.

MELINDA
What else do we know?

Montgomery hands her a file. Melinda views it, studying.

12.

MR. MONTGOMERY
Just a few short hours ago, Thane and
two of his associates walked into the
Bekenstein Labs and Research
Facility, and did that.

PHOTOS of the carnage and bodies from the research facility.

MELINDA
Three people did all this?

MR. MONTGOMERY
It took them a little over five
minutes to do that. Thane has
extraordinary assistance.

The holographic image of Thane changes to... MIKA.

MR. MONTGOMERY (cont'd)

This woman's name is Mika. An expert
with knives. Wanted in about five
star systems for murder.

The holographic image of Mika changes to... VAUGHAN.

MR. MONTGOMERY (cont'd)

This mountain of muscle is Vaughan.
Recently out of prison.

MELINDA
They let that brute of jail?

MR. MONTGOMERY
He was never actually released.

Holographic images of Kyle and Maggie from earlier appear.

MR. MONTGOMERY (cont'd)

These two associates we captured
fleeing from the scene, and are
currently being interrogated.

MELINDA
They cared a great deal about
whatever they wanted their hands on.

MR. MONTGOMERY
They were there to steal Element
Zero. An extremely rare mineral.
We're still trying to figure out what
it is that it does.
13.

MELINDA
Right then, I'll be on my way.

MR. MONTGOMERY
Wait.

Montgomery stops Melinda before she's even halfway out of

her seat.

MR. MONTGOMERY (cont'd)

Melinda, we've discussed this at
length on several occasions. You
cannot conduct this kind of mission
by yourself.

MELINDA
I prefer working alone. I move
faster, and don't need anybody
slowing me down. I can handle it.

MR. MONTGOMERY
I'm impressed with how you've
rebounded after the incident last
year. I admire your strength and
resolve. Your work speaks for itself.
You're the very best we have. But one
person can't do this. The risks are
too great. You're going to need help
with this.

MELINDA
I'm all ears.

INT. DORMITORY, GSA HEADQUARTERS - MOMENTS LATER

Harper is unpacking her bags. Clothes neatly on the bed.

Posters already up on her walls. Knickknacks on her shelf.

She stops, catching her eye on something outside her window.

MELINDA. Exiting the main building, walking towards the

massive spaceport in the distance. Harper lights up.

A yellow-skinned ALIEN GIRL knocks on her door.

ALIEN GIRL
Hey roomie, a bunch of us are gonna
grab a bite to eat. Wanna join?

HARPER
Yeah, I'll be right there.
14.

The alien girl leaves. Harper's gaze turns back to the

window, grinning. She aims to misbehave.

INT. DOCKING BAY, SPACEPORT - CONTINUOUS

Melinda walks up the boarding ramp leading into her ship.

Harper slips out of the shadows, sneaking past WORKERS, and

quickly scurries over to the front landing gear. She climbs
up it, and disappears inside the shuttle.

EXT. SPACE - LATER

Melinda's starship moves through space, gliding through the

starry vastness.

INT. COCKPIT - CONTINUOUS

Melinda rests her hands slightly on the cockpit controls.

She sips a cup a tea while JAZZ music plays. She's in the
zone, until a NOISE comes from the rear of the cockpit.

She hits on the button on the controls and it GLOWS green.

The ship is in AUTO-PILOT and Melinda investigate the noise.

INT. REAR OF COCKPIT - CONTINUOUS

Melinda hears noises coming from an overhead panel. She

draws her gun and eventually pries the door open.

HARPER falls out, hanging in a jumble of wires.

HARPER
Uh... hi?

INT. LOWER FLIGHT DECK, MELINDA'S SHIP - LATER

Harper sits on a couch in some sort of holding area, while

Melinda looks on like a parent disappointed in her
rebellious teenage daughter.

Melinda glares. Silent. Harper can't take it.

HARPER
Can you please say something? You're
giving me anxiety.
15.

MELINDA
What made you think you could take it
upon yourself to stowaway on my ship?

HARPER
I'm sorry. I really wanted to work
with you, Melinda. And they said the
recruits would have the opportunity
to shadow the agents for a week.

MELINDA
Yes, after six months of training
first!

HARPER
I'm sorry. Look, I'm already here.
You might as well use me, right?
I'm a pretty good shot with a gun.
(off Melinda's look)
Hey, is that a Mateba Autorevolver?

Harper reaches for the gun in Melinda's holster...

HARPER (cont'd)
Can I see--

MELINDA
(grabbing Harper's
wrist)
I don't think so.

HARPER
Ow, ow. Ok, you made your point.

Melinda lets go, then starts contemplating her next move.

HARPER (cont'd)
Hey, um, you haven't got anything to
eat, do you? I skipped lunch. If
you've got some pizza, or Oreos lying
around, or something... Oh! Maybe a
peanut butter and jelly sandwich?

MELINDA
Do not jest with me, little girl. I
am not in the mood for it.

Harper looks away and frowns. Melinda sighs.

HARPER
What're you gonna do with me?
16.

MELINDA
I doubt Montgomery will take you back
after this stunt. I'll have to take
you home. Where is your family
located?

HARPER
I don't really have any family. As
far as everybody I've ever grown up
with is concerned, I'm dead.

A beat.

An ALERT goes off, signaling Melinda's arrival to the

nearest planet.

Melinda gives Harper a look.

MELINDA
Come with me.

EXT. OUTCOME DOCKS - LATER

Melinda's ship touches down at the OUTCOME docks.

A Bazaar filled with some humans and a healthy blend of

aliens either passing by, or selling goods.

Ships are lined up next to each other with some of its

members advertising passage.

The ramp comes down and Melinda walks out with Harper at her
side. Harper looks almost awestruck by Outcome, when it's
not really anything you'd look twice at.

An alien couple walks by and Harper looks at them like she's

never seen an Alien before, despite being one herself.

HARPER
Wow...

MELINDA
Have you never seen an alien before?

HARPER
Not this many in the same place.

Harper overcomes her stargazing, then turns to Melinda.

HARPER (cont'd)
So, where are we going?
17.

MELINDA
We aren't going anywhere. I have to
locate someone. You are to stay here
and watch the ship.

HARPER
Watch the ship? Come on. I can go
with you. You know, like cover you or
something.

MELINDA
No.

HARPER
(sighs)
What am I supposed to do while you're
gone?

Melinda sets up a chair outside the ship, then hands Harper

a book.

MELINDA
It's a thrilling read. I'll be back
shortly.

Melinda walks off. Harper sits down in a huff.

EXT. BOWERY STREET, OUTCOME - NIGHT

Bowery Street is full of neon signs attached to buildings.

Crowds of people passing through wide open streets. Steam
comes from the manholes.

INT. BAR - CONTINUOUS

Melinda enters a half empty bar, and approaches the Barkeep.

BARKEEP
What can I do you for, miss?

MELINDA
I'm looking for a man.

BARKEEP
There's a place over on 33rd. Might
want to get yourself checked out
before and after. I also wouldn't
touch anything in there without
gloves.
18.

MELINDA
No, you idiot. I'm looking for a man
by the name of Aidan Bloom. I hear he
frequents this bar.

BARKEEP
That bum? He's over there.

Barkeep points to a stool in the back of the Bar.

AIDAN BLOOM, late thirties. Not muscular, but in decent

shape. Unkempt hair. Bearded. He stares down a glass of
Vodka, with a half empty bottle already on the table.

Melinda walks to his booth and looks at him, disappointed by

his appearance.

Bloom shotguns his drink and looks up at this pretty,

shapely woman standing before him.

MELINDA
Aidan Bloom?

Bloom looks up at Melinda.

MELINDA (cont'd)
May I have a seat?

BLOOM
Do I owe you money?

MELINDA
No.

BLOOM
Then Aidan Bloom I am. Help yourself.

Melinda takes a seat. Bloom pours himself another glass.

BLOOM (cont'd)
Want a drink?

MELINDA
No thank you. Mr. Bloom. I'll keep
this brief. My name is Melinda
Martel, on behalf of Galactic
Intelligence. We require your help
for a specific mission.

BLOOM
(laughing)
They sent you to come find me? Man,
they must be desperate.
19.

MELINDA
I've read your file. You're an
exceptional agent. Possibly one of
the best the Agency has ever had. I'm
not sure what you are now past a
drunkard.

Bloom gives her a look, taking that comment seriously.

BLOOM
Piss off, alright? I've actually been
thinking about making this a
permanent vacation.

Bloom downs his drink, immediately pours another.

MELINDA
I know about the Battle on Carth.

Bloom stops, sternly looking at Melinda.

BLOOM
I see you're a pain in the ass as
well as nosy.

MELINDA
I have to read the files of everyone
involved in this assignment. Every
detail matters. I'm truly sorry about
the people you lost on that mission,
but you have to put that aside.
You're being given a second chance.

BLOOM
A second chance to do what?

MELINDA
To make up for the war you lost.

THIS gets Bloom's attention.

MELINDA (cont'd)
And I assure you, Bloom, the outcome
will be quite different the second
time around.

Bloom stares at her for a beat.

ALIEN GANG LEADER (O.S.)

The hell are you doing here?

They turn...
20.

A GANG of ALIENS have entered the bar. Ugly looking things.

Sights set on Bloom.

BLOOM
Ah shit.

Bloom gets up as The Gang approaches his table. Melinda

watches on. The Barkeep watches on too, anxious. He won't
intervene.

ALIEN GANG LEADER

Was I not crystal clear the last time
I saw you, Bloom? If you ever came
back to Outcome, you were a dead man.
You remember me saying that, right?

BLOOM
It must've slipped my mind. My memory
ain't what it used to be.

Melinda steps in now.

MELINDA
Is there a problem, gentlemen?

ALIEN GANG LEADER

This lump of shit owes me some money.

MELINDA
How much money?

ALIEN GANG LEADER

5000 Units.

Melinda looks at Bloom. He shrugs with a guilty expression.

ALIEN GANG LEADER (cont'd)

I told him I'd forget about the debt
if he never showed his face on
Outcome again. Apparently, he's not a
good listener.

MELINDA
Gentlemen, I have traveled a long
way. Whatever your issue with Mr.
Bloom is will have to wait for some
other time.

ALIEN GANG LEADER

Shut the hell up, Lady, this ain't
none of your goddamn business.

Melinda shoots the Alien a look. Bloom intervenes.

21.

BLOOM
Okay, wait a minute. Look, fellas, we
don't want any trouble, alright? So
here's the deal--

Bloom PUNCHES the Alien directly in the face, sending him

staggering back a couple of feet.

ALIEN GANG LEADER

You Son of a--

The Alien CHARGES. Melinda steps in front, JUDO-FLIPS the

Alien to the floor, and puts her foot on his chest.

BLOOM
Had enough?

The Alien struggles to move, but no dice.

ALIEN GANG LEADER

(meaning his Gang)
Don't just stand there, you dipshits!
Get 'em!

One Alien draws his gun.

BLOOM
(to Melinda)
Quick! Get behind me!

Melinda stands behind Bloom as he whips out a bulky looking

pistol, and aims like he's about to shoot, but it instead...

Deploys a large DEFLECTOR ENERGY SHIELD that CATCHES every

single bullet sent his way. The bullets are just frozen and
stuck in the blue shield like a sticky net.

The Alien Gang look on in shock. Bloom just smiles.

Two commands appear on the gun's screen:

"REPEL" and "DROP"

He presses the Green button on the side of his pistol (the

DROP option) and the bullets all clatter to the floor.

BLOOM (cont'd)
(to Melinda)
Your turn.

Melinda cracks her knuckles.

22.

MELINDA
With pleasure.

Melinda moves out from behind Bloom's back and the two of
them start fighting off the gang members together.

For two people who've just met, they work like a well oiled
machine. Melinda cuts through them skillfully and elegantly,
while Bloom is more physical, tossing one man through a
table and bashing another one's head on the barstand.

Once everyone is down, the lead alien who was running his
mouth gets up and stares down Melinda and Bloom.

He draws his gun. A WIRE flies out from Melinda's wrist,

wraps around the Man's hand, and ELECTROCUTES him. He falls
awkwardly to the floor.

Melinda straightens her suit.

BLOOM
That was one hell of a scrap.

Bloom shotguns a drink he finds on the table.

BLOOM (cont'd)
You're good. In my prime, you and I
could've done some serious damage.

MELINDA
We still could.

BLOOM
Listen, tell those dipshits what sent
you that I'm not interested. I'm done
fighting other people's wars.

Bloom starts to walk away. Melinda watches him.

MELINDA
You're just going to walk away from
this?

BLOOM
Nothing gets past you, huh?

Bloom looks at the Barkeep on the way out.

BLOOM (cont'd)
You can bill her for the damages.

Melinda reaches into her coat, pulls out a TASER. She SHOOTS
the TASER PRONGS in Bloom's back. He drops like a bad habit.
23.

EXT. OUTCOME DOCKS - LATER

Harper, sitting in her lawn chair, is surprisingly pretty

interested in that book she's reading. She turns the page
and gasps, putting a hand over her mouth.

Headlights flash over her face. She looks up to see--

Melinda and Bloom pull up in a HOVER CAR. Melinda walks

over. Bloom hobbles over in a STRAITJACKET.

HARPER
Where'd you get the hover car?

MELINDA
From some people who had no further
use for it.

HARPER
(meaning Bloom)
Who's he, and what's with the
straitjacket?

Melinda and Bloom give each other a look.

MELINDA
Harper, this is Aidan Bloom.
Mr. Bloom failed to cooperate, so I
had to persuade him to come with me.

BLOOM
Persuade my ass. Kid, your boss
kidnapped me. She didn't respond well
to "No."

MELINDA
Harper, can you let him out, please
so I don't have to listen to anymore
of his caterwauling?

HARPER
Aye, aye, Captain!

Harper frees him. Bloom tries to get the feeling back in his
arms, legs, and neck.

MELINDA
Come now, Bloom, I have to brief you
on what it is we're dealing with.

BLOOM
Can we stop for beer on the way?
24.

Melinda looks at him like he has five heads.

MELINDA
Bloom, we're dealing with a situation
of Galactic Security and I'd rather
have you speaking in complete
sentences to get it done.

BLOOM
...fair enough.

INT. BOARD ROOM, GSA HEADQUARTERS - LATER

MONTGOMERY sits at his desk, drink-in-hand. His assistant,

JUTE, with pale orange skin, purple around her eyes, purple
lips, and a mark on her forehead, hovers behind him.

JUTE
That's the third human colony
attacked in five months, sir.
Something is happening out there.

Montgomery's studies what he's looking, locked in thought.

JUTE (cont'd)
Could it be The Reapers?

Montgomery trades looks with his assistant.

MR. MONTGOMERY
Don't believe in those stories, Jute.
Curiosities on the far side of space
pose no immediate threat to us.

JUTE
I saw the man that was carried out of
here today. Are we absolutely certain
these Reapers are simply curiosities?

Jute gives him a scared look.

BREA knocks, the enters. A pink-skinned Alien cutie.

BREA
My apologies for disturbing you, Mr.
Montgomery, sir.

MR. MONTGOMERY
It's okay, Brea. What do you need?
25.

BREA
It's the Galactic Council, sir. They
want to speak with you.

Montgomery looks at Brea in stunned silence.

MR. MONTGOMERY
T-they want to speak with me? Right
now? Are you sure?

BREA
Yes sir, they're waiting for you in
the communications room.

INT. COMMUNICATIONS ROOM - CONTINUOUS

Montgomery enters an EMPTY ROOM occupied by a LARGE CIRCULAR

PAD on the ground. He steps on the pad and it GLOWS.

INT. GALACTIC COUNCIL CHAMBERS - CONTINUOUS

A large, mostly dark empty room with black floor tiles,

overlooking the Supergiant, KANTAURUS. A DYING STAR with a
mixture of mostly blue and a little bit of red on its
churning surface.

Montgomery appears in the room as a HOLOGRAM, facing--

THE GALACTIC SPACE COUNCIL:

SHEA, a beautiful African-American Human Woman with an

afro.;

ALEISTER, a broad, muscular Reptilian Alien.

BARAK, a grey-skinned Alien in Royal white robes.

And RIVER, a Indigo skinned Humanoid Alien Woman with

antennae, sits in the middle. The Council leader.

The four of them sit in hovering chairs. A highly

intimidating sight. They mean business.

MR. MONTGOMERY
I thought we'd meet face to face.

SHEA
Not necessary. Traveling to you would
draw unwanted attention. This is
sufficient enough.
26.

MR. MONTGOMERY
May I ask a question?

SHEA
Go ahead.

MR. MONTGOMERY
Have you heard about what's been
happening out there? People are
starting to believe the Reapers are
returning. Do you have any inform--

ALEISTER
The Reapers are a myth. Nothing more.
Let's focus on the mission at hand.

MR. MONTGOMERY
Melinda is out with the team as we
speak. Is there any news on Thane?

ALEISTER
Thane has done an admirable job
covering his tracks, but he couldn't
hide his movements from us forever.

BARAK
We're forwarding you the intel we've
received. Feel free to update Melinda
when you get the opportunity.

MR. MONTGOMERY
How did you get the information?

SHEA
It's not in your best interest to
know that. Our reach in the Galaxy
extends a lot farther than you think.

MR. MONTGOMERY
How would you prefer they deal with
Thane when they find him?

RIVER
I want him dead.

The other council members give her a look.

RIVER (cont'd)
Thane has dangerous information in
his possession. If it gets out, it
could cast a dark shadow over the
Agency and send the Galaxy spiraling
out of control.
27.

MR. MONTGOMERY
I understand that, but--

RIVER
If Thane manages to succeed in any
way, the galaxy will bleed.

MR. MONTGOMERY
He should face justice.

RIVER
He dies. I'm not going to debate the
morality of the situation with you.
When Thane makes his next move, we'll
contact you. This exchange is over.

Montgomery's Hologram disappears from the chamber...

INT. COMMUNICATIONS ROOM - CONTINUOUS

And resurfaces back in the communications room. Montgomery

exhales, and stands locked in thought.

INT. HEIPHONG TAVERN - NIGHT

"HEIPHONG"

The commercial planet of HEIPHONG, awash in gleam and riches

outside, but we're inside a well lit, smoke-filled remote
bar, with an exotic mixture of humans and alien creatures.

Thane, Mika, Vaughan, and some armed troops march in like

they own the place. They probably could if they wanted to.

Nobody dares make a move against them as they stride through

the tavern and down a corridor until they come to a room
with two GUARDS posted at the door.

GUARD
You got business here? 'Cause if not,
I suggest you keep it moving.

Vaughan grabs them both by the collar and THROWS THEM

THROUGH THE DOOR and into...

INT. GABRIELLE'S OFFICE - CONTINUOUS

An office with some dim lighting with artifacts and antiques

spread about the room.
28.

It's here we meet GABRIELLE ROUSSEAU, a slender ELF Woman,

sitting at a desk dressed in modern clothing and a Black
Fedora hat, smoking a cigarette.

She's seemingly un-phased by two people being thrown through

her door.

The Guards get back up, but in the blink of an eye, Mika
hurls two daggers deep into their bodies, and they're down.

GABRIELLE
Please, come in.

Thane's team stand in front of Gabrielle's desk, while the

armed troops stand on opposites sides of the desk.

GABRIELLE (cont'd)
What is this, are you about to put on
a performance for me?

THANE
Where's the ship?

GABRIELLE
Tell me something, Thane, why do you
always look so angry? You need to
relax. I could help you with that.

THANE
This is strictly business.

GABRIELLE
You're no fun when you're like this.

Vaughan silently growls.

GABRIELLE (cont'd)
What's wrong with your beast?

MIKA
(in Japanese)
He's impatient. You wouldn't like us
very much when we get impatient. What
I wouldn't give to slice your pretty
little mouth and give you a red
smile.

GABRIELLE
What did she say?

THANE
It wouldn't be good for either of us
if I told you what she said.
29.

GABRIELLE
You surround yourself with some
interesting people, Thane.

THANE
I'll ask again -- where's the ship?

GABRIELLE
If I didn't know any better, I'd
think you were gearing up for a War.

THANE
Not a War. More like a reckoning.

Gabrielle smiles, putting out the cigarette she was smoking.

GABRIELLE
Your ship is waiting for you in
Docking Bay 37.

Thane places a Money-filled envelope on Gabrielle's desk.

His team turns to leave, but...

GABRIELLE (cont'd)
The one thing that's been on my mind,
though...

Thane stops and turns back.

GABRIELLE (cont'd)
... is why a former Galactic Security
operative is planning an attack
against the very agency he once
fought for?

THANE
I think a better question is if you
know what I'm doing, why haven't you
turned me in yet? Should I be
worried?

Gabrielle chuckles and lights another cigarette.

GABRIELLE
Money can buy a lot of things for the
right price. Silence being one of
them. The difference between someone
like you and someone like me, Thane,
is that I'm more of a big picture
person. I don't have a problem with
the GSA, or the Council.
30.

GABRIELLE (cont'd)
I mean sure, they're shitty in
dealing with certain situations, but
if you take them out, things are a
lot worse. It's an invitation to
anarchy.

Thane and Gabrielle glare at each other for a moment.

THANE
Finished?

GABRIELLE
I think so, yeah.

THANE
Good.

GABRIELLE
I just hope you truly, and I mean
truly realize what you're doing.

THANE
I've known what I was going to do for
a long time.

Thane rounds up his team and leaves.

GABRIELLE
Who's gonna pay for the mess you made
in my office?

THANE (O.S.)
The Government.

INT. BATHROOM, MELINDA'S SHIP - LATER

Bloom stands in the bathroom, shaving off the last few

strands of unnecessary hair. He looks like a new man; Clean,
spit and polished with a new haircut and clothes.

Bloom exits the bathroom to find Melinda standing outside.

BLOOM
Something I can help you with?

MELINDA
There's somebody you need to meet.
31.

INT. MED BAY, MELINDA'S SHIP - LATER

The Med Bay area of the ship is complete with several beds,
a small station, and a variety of medical equipment.

It's here that we find...

DR. TIRAN (pronounced TEER-in) MEYLIER (pronounced MAY-lyr).

Green skin. Big eyes. Tall, thin Alien Male with Amphibian-
like features.

NOTE: Tiran speaks in broken sentences, cutting out all

unnecessary words from his speech, using the fewest words as
possible.

He's unpacking his duffel bag by a desk, placing a number of

items on it. One being a small box with these blueish
crystals inside.

Harper sits on a bed, watching. She reaches to touch

something. Tiran slaps her hand.

HARPER
Ow!

TIRAN
Must not touch. Sensitive materials.

HARPER
(meaning the crystals)
What are they?

TIRAN
Healing crystals. Have been used in
the past to cure ailments and
diseases. Provides mental balance and
stability. Results vary. Depends on
patient. Some positive. Some
negative. Nasty side effects.

HARPER
What about those plants? Do they come
from your planet?

TIRAN
Asking of a lot questions. Annoying?
No, maybe just inquisitive perhaps.
Herbs and plants extremely efficient
for healing. Roots, stems, and
especially berries. High results.
Mixed with vials and powders ensures
successful recuperation. Faye spice
most effective out of them all.
32.

Melinda and Bloom enter.

MELINDA
Mr. Bloom, this Dr. Tiran Meylier.

Tiran approaches Bloom, scanning him with a device.

TIRAN
Scanning complete. No sign of
diseases. 17% body fat. Good shape.
High cholesterol and sugar levels.
Alcohol in bloodstream. Worrisome.
Recommend alternatives. Coffee? No.

Tiran hands him a cup of tea.

TIRAN (cont'd)
Tea, perhaps?

Melinda and Bloom trade looks.

BLOOM
Is he for real?

MELINDA
He does make a fine cup of tea.

BLOOM
I'll pass.

Tiran puts the tea away. Bloom shakes his head.

BLOOM (cont'd)
Have you ever seen real combat?

Tiran gives him a puzzled look.

BLOOM (cont'd)
If this mission is bad as boss lady
says it is, and shit goes sideways
out there -- and I got a pretty good
feeling that it will -- I want to
know if you can handle yourself
'cause I don't feel much like looking
after you.

TIRAN
Can sense distrust. Disconcerting.
Yet understandable. Most species make
similar misjudgments. Medics not
known for combat.
33.

Tiran reveals a large pistol with a scope. With the push of

a button, it CHANGES into a LASER CROSSBOW, which he places
back on the table.

TIRAN (cont'd)
My crossbow.

Bloom gives him a look. Both surprised and impressed.

TIRAN (cont'd)
Several missions. High-risk. Covert.
Can handle myself. Underestimated.
Overlooked. Never see me coming.

Bloom turns to Melinda, who's smirking.

MELINDA
Never judge a book by its cover,
Bloom.

Melinda's communicator beeps.

MELINDA (cont'd)
That would be Montgomery.

INT. COMMAND DECK, MELINDA'S SHIP - MOMENTS LATER

Melinda, Bloom, Oberon, and Tiran assemble on the bridge.

On a large monitor screen, we see...

A PHOTO of the ELEMENT ZERO, before it was stolen.

TIRAN
Element Zero!

MELINDA
You're familiar with this mineral,
Doctor?

TIRAN
Certainly. Very sensitive and
powerful mineral. Can power ship's
drive core. Strengthen shields.
Armament. Weapons. Increase and boost
FTL travel.

BLOOM
So, it's like giving your ship a dose
of steroids.
34.

TIRAN
In so little words, yes.

The monitor changes to Mr. Montgomery.

MR. MONTGOMERY
Thane's two associates in our custody
have sang the right tune. He's
keeping the element zero safe in a
facility on Kerdro. He must be
stopped... by any means necessary.

INT. THANE'S CHAMBERS, THANE'S SHIP - LATER

What looks like a dozen monitor screens -- machinery that

looks relatively modern -- each playing different images of
either the Galactic Council, or the Agency itself.

PULLING AWAY to reveal--

THANE. Seated. Arms crossed. Locked in thought. He looks

like he hasn't slept. Slowly, he closes his eyes--

WE HEAR... screams. Quiet. Distant. The screams build, and

build, and build. Louder until we...

FLASHBACK TO:

EXT. KRESSLIN - DAY

"TWO YEARS AGO"

A thick cloud of smoke and ash. Rubble everywhere. Small

fires in the background. Ash falling like snow.

We see dead bodies. DOZENS and DOZENS of them. Charred

remains of ALIENS. Men, Women, and even children. Pompeii
level shit.

Moving over all dead bodies until we reach...

THANE. Unconscious. Blood on his face. Covered in ash.

He awakens with a GASP. Eyes pop open. Shaky breath, and

coughing as he struggles to rise to his feet.

Thane stands, looking around at the carnage, the

destruction, the debris, and human rubble.
35.

EXT. STREETS, KRESSLIN - CONTINUOUS

Thane continues walking. Passing more dead bodies. It looks

like the aftermath of a war, or rather a massacre.

He stops, bends down, picking up a small toy, blackened by

fire. In the distance, he sees a ship. Broken down, but
still might work.

INT. SPACESHIP - CONTINUOUS

Thane fiddles and plays around with the ship controls until
it starts humming with power and the lights come on.

He's relieved for a moment, then looks down at his hand.

The burnt toy. He holds it, looking at it longingly.

Thane CRUSHES it, turning to dust in his hands.

His face changes. Stern. Angry. Fear becomes Rage.

BACK TO:

INT. THANE'S CHAMBERS, THANE'S SHIP - CONTINUOUS

Thane opens his eyes. Gets out of his chair.

He calmly grabs an ASSAULT RIFLE from the table, turns, and

SHOOTS AT ALL THE MONITORS.

INT. CORRIDOR, THANE'S SHIP - CONTINUOUS

Mika and Vaughan turn the corner to hear the sound of

Thane's Assault Rifle going off loudly.

INT. THANE'S CHAMBERS, THANE'S SHIP - CONTINUOUS

The doors SLIDE UP. Mika and Vaughan enter.

Thane stands still. Assault Rifle hanging out of his hand.

The monitors have been completely destroyed. A mess of glass
and smoke everywhere.

Mika and Vaughan trade looks. Half scared. Half concerned.

VAUGHAN
Thane?
36.

Thane turns to them. Completely calm.

THANE
Come in.

MIKA and VAUGHAN enter.

MIKA
We dock at Kerdro soon.

Thane doesn't answer. Mika and Vaughan trade looks.

VAUGHAN
Thane?

Thane turns to them.

THANE
You two are just in time. I was about
to pour myself a drink.

He drops the rifle and walks to the table to make drinks. He

pours for all three of them.

Mika and Vaughan stare at the destroyed monitors.

MIKA
Have you slept?

Thane hands them their drinks.

THANE
Sleep is the last thing on my mind.

Thane turns his back to them.

THANE (cont'd)
I've seen War and Death for what it
really is. I've seen my people dead.
Never have I wanted something so much
in my life. I've seen the faces of
those who've wronged me. But if I
kill them, then what? Others will
come for me to avenge them. And if I
die, others will avenge me. On and on
and on. An ongoing cycle of violence.
Where will it end? I thought, perhaps
we should end this crusade now.

Thane turns back to Mika and Vaughan, serious.

37.

THANE (cont'd)
But that was then. And this is now.
The Galactic Security Agency and The
Council that supports them are liars
and War Criminals.

Thane raises his drink.

THANE (cont'd)
And it's high time they answer for
their atrocities.

The three of them shotgun their drinks.

INT. LOWER FLIGHT DECK, MELINDA'S SHIP - LATER

The team members assemble back in the lounge/hold area.

Melinda loads her Mateba Auto-revolvers. Bloom looks on.

BLOOM
You're bringing revolvers?

MELINDA
Is that a problem?

BLOOM
What's wrong with a blaster?

MELINDA
I much prefer being old-fashioned.

BLOOM
What exactly are you gonna do with
those? Walk ten paces, then shoot?

Melinda glares at him. Bloom backs off. Harper approaches,

tapping Melinda on the shoulder.

HARPER
So, uh, where's my weapon?

MELINDA
You don't get one. We've been over
this. You are not coming on this
mission.

HARPER
Please?!

MELINDA
How many more times will you ask me?
38.

HARPER
Until you change your answer.

BLOOM
What're we gonna do with her? I mean,
it's not like we have time to babysit
a child.

HARPER
I'm not a child!

BLOOM
Keep quiet little baby and let the
grown ups talk this one out, okay?

Harper throws her arms up in frustration.

MELINDA
We can't take her back to
headquarters. Not now. Thane is our
primary objective.

TIRAN
Simple solution. Lock her up. Keep
her on ship. Out of sight. Out of
trouble. Finish mission. Let
Montgomery handle it later.

Melinda and Bloom trade looks.

INT. DETENTION CENTER, MELINDA'S SHIP - CONTINUOUS

Melinda places Harper in a large glass containment cell and

locks her in by entering a code into the keypad.

HARPER
This is so unfair. I can help. I can
do things, you know.

MELINDA
What's healthy for you is that you
remain here. At least I know you're
safe and won't get into any trouble.
We'll be back shortly.

Melinda walks away.

Beat.

HARPER
I'll show you.
39.

Harper reaches in her pocket and pulls out a small Black

CUBE SHAPED DEVICE. She presses a red button on the side. It
opens and MORPHS into an orb.

It starts SPINNING rapidly. Harper places it on the glass

cell and backs away. In just seconds, the glass SHATTERS
quietly. Almost noiseless.

Harper pokes her head out to see if anybody is around. She

hops out and makes for the exit.

EXT. SURFACE, KERDRO - DAY

"KERDRO"

The lush frontier world of KERDRO. Moving over limestone

cliffs, jutting out of the clear blue water until we come to
the KERDRO RESEARCH FACILITY, on an isolated island,
overlooking the sea.

INT. CORRIDOR, KERDRO RESEARCH FACILITY - CONTINUOUS

Thane walks down a corridor lined with huge glass windows,

flanked by Mika and Vaughan. ARMED TROOPERS in the back.

A SCIENTIST walks alongside him.

THANE
Is the work done?

SCIENTIST
Yes, sir. We've experimented with the
element zero. Been able to tweak it
and re-engineer it to your liking.

THANE
Good. I've dropped the ship off at
Corinth. When the final tests are
done, we'll bring it there.

Thane stops. Everybody else stops in their tracks too. He

takes notice of Melinda's ship touching down on the shores.

THANE (cont'd)
Everybody, prepare yourselves. We're
about to have some uninvited guests.
40.

INT. COMMAND DECK, MELINDA'S SHIP - CONTINUOUS

Tiran is giving his crossbow something of a final

inspection. He looks over and watches Bloom pour a Blue
colored liquid from this vial into his pistol compartment.

TIRAN
What is that?

BLOOM
Fuel. It powers my pistol's deflector
shield.

TIRAN
How much of it do you have left?

BLOOM
Not a lot, but just enough.

Bloom loads his pistol. Melinda walks onto the bridge.

MELINDA
We've landed. Let's move.

BLOOM
Hold on, shouldn't we devise some
sort of strategy on how to approach
this. I had a few ideas...

MELINDA
Mr. Bloom, if I may cut you off for a
moment. This is how the mission will
go. You two will proceed with me. You
will stay behind me. I will give the
orders and you will act only when and
if I deem it appropriate to do so.

Bloom gives her this bewildered, "Are you serious?" look.

BLOOM
Lady, we didn't come all the way out
here to be your glorified bodyguards.

MELINDA
We haven't the time for a dialogue.

BLOOM
Like hell we don't.

MELINDA
I'm the only one who's been in active
field combat in the last few months.
41.

MELINDA (cont'd)
If we follow the simple rules I've
laid out, we can complete this
mission. Do we have a deal?

Bloom walks up to her. They size each other up.

BLOOM
Yeah, we got a deal.

MELINDA
Good.

Melinda walks away. Bloom and Tiran trade glances.

EXT. ENTRANCE, KERDRO RESEARCH FACILITY - CONTINUOUS

Melinda, Bloom, and Tiran approach the entrance to the

facility, guarded by several ARMED TROOPS. Clad in black.
Faces covered. Heavily armed. They mean business.

The three of them take cover behind some rocks. Melinda

looks out through a pair of BINOCULARS.

MELINDA
There's a great deal of them. We need
to be smart about this.

Melinda looks and sees that both Bloom and Tiran are gone,
and charging the facility, guns blazing.

Bloom and Tiran come under fire by a number of troopers.

Tiran shimmies around the gunfire until he's in cover behind

a stone wall. With his Crossbow, he FIRES...

Several BLASTER BOLTS with perfect aim, taking them out, and
sending them flying!

The overwhelming gunfire forces him to retreat back into

cover. Bloom has run out of patience.

BLOOM
Forget this.

Bloom moves forward. The soldiers FIRE at him.

He draws his Deflector Shield, trapping all the bullets.

This time, he chooses the "REPEL" option on his screen,

sending EVERY BULLET back the way they were fired, KILLING
most of the soldiers.
42.

The few troops that are left continue their attack.

Tiran BLASTS two of them down. Another trooper closes the

gap, getting up close. Tiran ducks a right hand and SMASHES
him in the face with his Crossbow.

Bloom CRACKS one guy in the face, and THRUST KICKS another
one across the floor.

He whips out another gun to shoot the last soldier, but it

JAMS. Bloom THROWS IT OFF THE SOLDIER'S FACE, catches it
back, RELOADS AND BLOWS HIM AWAY!

Bloom re-sheathes his gun. He turns and sees Melinda

approaching him with her gun pointed.

BLOOM (cont'd)
Whoa, wait...!

Melinda SHOOTS...

A Soldier that was sneaking up on the two of them. She re-

holsters her weapon and glares at Bloom.

MELINDA
Do not do that again.

BLOOM
Doesn't feel so good when you're not
in control, does it?

Melinda gives him a death stare. Tiran intervenes.

TIRAN
Enough. Wasting a lot of time. Need
to go. Fight later when mission is
done.

Melinda gives Bloom a look and walks past him. They head
inside the facility.

A beat.

HARPER. Pops out. Covering behind a rock the whole time. She
runs around to the other side of the facility where she
finds a ladder. She climbs it, heading to the roof.

EXT. ROOFTOPS, KERDRO RESEARCH FACILITY - CONTINUOUS

Harper sneaks around rooftops, keeping low. Smart.

She finds a vent, opens it, and climbs right in.

43.

INT. VENTS, KERDRO RESEARCH FACILITY - CONTINUOUS

We see HARPER, disobeying orders and crawling through the

vents of the facility. She takes a flashlight over the map.

HARPER
A-ha! It's this way.

She makes a left turn down a dusty corridor.

INT. KERDRO RESEARCH FACILITY - CONTINUOUS

Melinda, Bloom, and Tiran slowly walk through the facility

with their weapons drawn.

LASER BLASTS ping and bounce off the wall. SPARKS fly.

They take cover behind open walls.

Melinda and Bloom trade looks. They give Tiran a nod.

Tiran peers out of cover. SHOOTS two enemies down. Melinda

shoots down three. Bloom takes out a couple.

Bloom is the first one of cover. FIRING as he moves.

Melinda RELOADS. She takes a breath, then comes out firing.

She SHOOTS two men down with ease. One tries to sneak up on
her. She knees him the chest, SHOOTS an incoming soldier,
KICKS the initial solider into a wall.

FOUR SOLDIERS are shooting from a distance.

Tiran looks over his shoulder for just a brief second. He

closes his eyes, muttering to himself.

He AIMS, and FIRES FOUR BOLTS at the soldiers.

The BOLTS pin them to the wall with ELECTRICITY.

Bloom DISARMS a man, drops him to the floor, and SHOOTS him.
He rolls across the floor, dodging laser fire, and shoots
another enemy dead.

In a flash, Melinda DROPS one enemy, runs up and takes down

another one MMA style, SHOOTS him dead. As another soldier
approaches, he's SHOT and goes down.

Melinda looks behind her, then in front of her.

BLOOM. Lowering his gun.

44.

They trade looks.

BLOOM
A thank you would be nice.

Melinda gets to her feet without a word. The three regroup.

TIRAN
What now?

MELINDA
Wherever the element is, if there's
this many more of these men, it must
be heavily guarded.

BLOOM
If we split up--

MELINDA
Bloom, no. It's a ridiculous idea
before it even leaves your head.

TIRAN
Martel. Bloom may be correct. Group
disconnect, while shrewd, could
perhaps work. Cover more ground.
Better chance of success.

MELINDA
There's a better chance of success if
we stay together.

BLOOM
We're wasting time. Just trust me on
this one.

Bloom starts to walk off by himself.

BLOOM (cont'd)
We'll stay on radio contact.

Tiran leaves and follows Bloom.

MELINDA
Bloody hell.

INT. VENTS, KERDRO RESEARCH FACILITY - CONTINUOUS

Harper comes to a dead-end steel grate. She pushes it out

and lands in...
45.

INT. TESTING ROOM, KERDRO RESEARCH FACILITY - CONTINUOUS

The TESTING ROOM where the glowing ELEMENT ZERO is preserved

in a glass case. Harper looks out the door windows and
sees...

DOZENS of SCIENTISTS holed up in the testing room with only

THREE GUARDS as their protection.

A random SOLIDER enters.

SOLDIER
We're leaving. Let's move out.

The whole room clears out in a hurry. Harper's by herself.

She sneaks her way into the lab where the Element Zero is
unguarded. She looks at it, grinning.

HARPER
Hello beautiful.

Harper turns her head. Someone's coming. She can sense it.

THANE enters the testing room to see--

Both Harper and Element Zero are GONE.

INT. VENTS, KERDRO RESEARCH FACILITY - CONTINUOUS

Thane stalks around the room for a moment.

Harper is cradling the element zero under her jacket in one

of the vents closer to the ground. Quiet, but scared.

A beat.

Harper is PULLED BY THE HAIR and dragged out of the vent.

She looks up, coming face-to-face with Thane's gun.

INT. LOWER LEVELS, KERDRO RESEARCH FACILITY - CONTINUOUS

Two Armed SOLDIERS walk down a corridor.

Bloom and Tiran come up from behind and KNOCK THEM OUT!

The two of them start walking until--

MIKA appears at one end of the hallway, taking two daggers

out from her coat.
46.

VAUGHAN appears at the other end of the hallway, cracking

both his neck and knuckles.

INT. TESTING ROOM, KERDRO RESEARCH FACILITY

Thane STALKS Harper, threatening with his gun.

THANE
You have something that doesn't
belong to you.

HARPER
It doesn't belong to you either.

THANE
That's cute. Give it to me.

HARPER
No.

THANE
No?

Thane SHOOTS in Harper's direction. She screams, but the

bullet missed its mark on purpose. A scare tactic.

THANE (cont'd)
The next one won't miss.

Harper, scared shitless, slowly rises to her feet and

reveals the Element Zero she had hidden.

Melinda arrives on the scene to see Harper's predicament.

MELINDA
Harper!

Thane turns and not only snatches the Element Zero, but
holds Harper at gunpoint. Melinda points her gun.

THANE
I was wondering when the Agency would
finally sick their dogs on me.

MELINDA
Thane Korvax, my name is Melinda
Martel on behalf of Galactic
Intelligence. You are under arrest.
Drop the girl, drop the element zero,
and come with me.
47.

THANE
A little late to the party, Ms.
Martel. I'm going to leave with this
element. Over your dead body...

Harper whimpers in fright as she hears Thane cock his gun

and presses it to her neck. All it takes is one second. One
slight hand movement and she's dead.

THANE (cont'd)
... or hers. Or both. It makes no
difference to me, really.

HARPER
(teary-eyed)
Melinda... I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.

MELINDA
It's going to be okay, Harper.

THANE
You shouldn't make promises you can't
keep.

MELINDA
You'd murder a child?

THANE
If I have to. What's it going to be,
Melinda Martel? The girl, the
element, or me? You can't have them
all. It's time to make a decision.

A beat.

THANE (cont'd)
Time's up.

Melinda SHOOTS first. She MISSES.

Thane THROWS Harper into Melinda and the two fall to the
ground. Thane SPRINTS out of the room with the Element Zero.

Melinda checks on Harper.

MELINDA
Harper, are you okay?

Harper remains, still scared and traumatized. She can't even

speak, or look Melinda in the eye.

MELINDA (cont'd)
Harper, look at me!
48.

Harper snaps out of it and gives Melinda a glassy eyed look.

MELINDA (cont'd)
I need you to get back to the ship.
Can you do that for me?

Harper wipes her eyes and nods.

MELINDA (cont'd)
Okay, now go.

Melinda takes off and gives chase after Thane. Harper

disappears into a vent.

INT. HALLWAY, KERDRO RESEARCH FACILITY - CONTINUOUS

TIRAN is thrown against a wall. He ducks down as Vaughan

comes with a fist that goes RIGHT THROUGH THE WALL!

A disarmed Tiran goes at Vaughan with body shots, but the

big man eats them all.

Vaughan takes Tiran, THROWS him to the floor, then HAMMERS

him across the back with a clubbing blow.

Mika and Bloom go at it hand-to-hand. The two are somewhat

evenly matched at first, but Mika soon proves to be the
quicker of the two, able to evade most of Bloom's offense.

Using the speed advantage, Mika quickly draws her daggers

and connects with a series of SLASHES to Bloom's arms and
legs. She follows it up by SPIN KICKING Bloom to the floor,
knocking him right out.

THANE (O.S.)
(over comms)
Mika, Vaughan. Rendezvous at the
ship. Now!

Mika and Vaughan give each other a nod.

VAUGHAN
It's been fun.

Vaughan leaves. Mika shows the ultimate disrespect and STEPS

OVER Bloom's body as she walks away.

INT. KERDRO RESEARCH FACILITY - CONTINUOUS

Melinda runs throughout the facility trying to find Thane.

For a moment, she's lost him. Then...
49.

Thane ATTACKS her from behind. Melinda drops to the floor

and Thane starts KICKING her. Thane aims his gun and
prepares to shoot her in the head.

In the blink of an eye, Melinda DISARMS Thane. They FIGHT.

Thane manages to get the upper hand and BOOTS Melinda across
the floor, then takes off for the nearest door.

Melinda moves after him, but IT'S LOCKED. Through the door
window...

MELINDA stares down Thane. He grins.

On Thane's side of the door, he places a BOMB on the hinges.

Melinda backs up from the door and DRAWS her Revolver. Thane
grins again as he flees. She aims at the hinges and...

BOOM! The explosion BLOWS Melinda back. She SLAMS to the

ground.

Melinda struggles to sit up. She looks. Thane is gone.

INT. MED BAY, MELINDA'S SHIP - LATER

A bruised Bloom enters the med bay. Tiran is issuing Melinda

a neurological exam. She's equally bruised and bandaged up.

BLOOM
How's she doing?

TIRAN
Nothing broken. No internal bleeding.
Very Fortunate. Could've been worse.

MELINDA
I appreciate your concern, Doctor,
but I'm fine.

She pushes the light away from her face.

MELINDA (cont'd)
What did Montgomery say when you
spoke with him?

BLOOM
He didn't take the news very well,
but he did send me the address of a
contact of his on Corinth that should
be able to help us out. It's not too
far from here.
50.

TIRAN
Melinda too hurt to go. Needs to rest
and recuperate.

MELINDA
I said I'm fine.

BLOOM
He's right. Regain your strength.
I'll check it out with the Doctor.

MELINDA
Without me? You'll get yourselves
killed.

Melinda gets up and walks out of the med bay.

INT. LOWER FLIGHT DECK, MELINDA'S SHIP - CONTINUOUS

Bloom follows Melinda through the ship.

BLOOM
The hell's your problem, huh?

Melinda spins to face him, angry.

MELINDA
My "problem" is you don't how to
listen. If the two of you had simply
followed orders back there, and done
what you were told--

BLOOM
You talked to us like we were beneath
you and gave us worthless directions
so that we'd be out of your way.

MELINDA
Thane should be in custody. This
mission should be over, but instead,
you disobeyed orders at every turn.
All I saw was a great deal of
grandstanding. If Thane succeeds,
people are going to die. I imagine
this is something you're all too
familiar with. Exactly how many
people died under you in that war you
failed to win?

Bloom stares a hole right through Melinda, blindsided and

seemingly hurt by the question.
51.

He answers in a wounded, snarky, and sarcastic taunt:

BLOOM
Yeah, I'm a failure. In fact, I was
such a failure, I got dozens of
people killed. Watched a lot of good
people die, friends. Lost the big
war. Let a lot of people down.

Melinda gives him a look. Bloom fires back.

BLOOM (cont'd)
You wanna talk failure? What about
how you failed to save your husband,
and still can't get over it?

Melinda stops cold.

BLOOM (cont'd)
I did my homework on you too. Married
for two years, right? Bahari was his
name, wasn't it?

MELINDA
(tense)
Bloom... you are treading on mighty
thin ice.

Bloom gets closer to Melinda.

BLOOM
Not only your husband, but your field
partner too, right? Then, he was
killed in that hostage mission on
Meridian you've been praised for.

MELINDA
(volcanic)
Back away from me.

BLOOM
You're a great agent, yeah. Too bad
he had to die first, isn't it?

--WHAM! Melinda DECKS Bloom with a right hand, sending

backwards against onto a nearby desk.

Melinda pulls out her revolver and POINTS IT IN HIS FACE.

She's so close to pulling the trigger her hand is shaking.

TIRAN (O.S.)
Melinda, stop!
52.

Melinda looks to Tiran, who arrived just in time.

Everything just STOPS.

Melinda snaps out of it. Calms herself. She looks at Bloom

in compassion, then lowers her gun, and backs away. She
looks at the stunned face of Tiran, staring back at her.

After a beat, Melinda finally gathers herself and leaves.

Bloom looks at Tiran, who's still shocked by what happened.

INT. MELINDA'S QUARTERS, MELINDA'S SHIP - LATER

Melinda sits alone in her room. Peacefully gathering her

thoughts. She stares at a PHOTO of her and BAHARI -- a
strikingly handsome Blue skinned alien male.

ON THE PHOTO: The two of them smiling and happy. Much more
peaceful times.

Melinda smiles and a tear runs down her cheek. Her gaze
moves from the photo over to the security monitors.

ON THE MONITOR: Harper is sitting in cockpit alone.

INT. COCKPIT, MELINDA'S SHIP - MOMENTS LATER

Harper sits in the Co-pilot chair of the ship, literally

staring off into Space.

MELINDA (O.S.)
Hey.

Harper sees Melinda emerge and sit in the pilot chair with
two steaming cups of Hot Chocolate.

HARPER
Don't worry, I didn't touch anything.

MELINDA
That device you used to escape was
impressive. How did you obtain it?

HARPER
I stole it.

MELINDA
(after a beat)
I made Hot Chocolate. I thought we
could share some.
53.

Melinda offers her a cup.

HARPER
What am I, five?

Melinda pulls the cup away, but Harper quickly takes it. She
puts her nose to the cup and takes a big whiff.

HARPER (cont'd)
Smells fantastic.

Harper takes a sip.

HARPER (cont'd)
Tastes even better. Hmm, it even has
marshmallows in it.

Melinda smiles, happy to see Harper coming around.

MELINDA
Hot Chocolate was my Mother's way of
making me feel better whenever I was
upset. I loved it. Bahari and I...
before he... we used to drink it
together some nights too.
(after a beat)
Harper--

HARPER
You took the shot.

A beat.

MELINDA
I'm sorry, Harper, but the mission
comes first. My duty as an agent
comes before personal feelings. Had I
not shown up when I did, Thane
would've killed you himself.

HARPER
I know it was stupid of me to
stowaway on the ship, and even
stupider to go after the element zero
on my own. I just... I wanted to be
the hero. Like you were.

Melinda pulls up a seat next to her.

MELINDA
(sighs)
I remember when I was around your
age...
54.

HARPER
You can remember that far back?

MELINDA
Very funny.

Harper laughs.

MELINDA (cont'd)
I once stole and destroyed a Star
Patrol ship.

HARPER
What? No way!

MELINDA
Yes. I was a very different woman
then. My friends and I were having a
good bit of fun. I turned it on,
and... it all happened so fast. Next
thing I know, we ended up crashing it
into this field.

HARPER
What happened?

MELINDA
Rather than put us in prison, Star
Patrol enrolled myself, Dalton, and
Faye into the academy. We worked our
way up to the Agency from there.

Harper starts laughing.

MELINDA (cont'd)
It was a mistake. Much like what you
did was a mistake. A serious mistake.
We're not perfect. We just try to do
the best that we can.

Harper doesn't respond. Melinda looks at her for a beat.

MELINDA (cont'd)
If you want to be an agent and be an
asset on this mission, you'll need to
learn properly. Are you ready?

Harper's eyes light up.

HARPER
You... you mean right now?
55.

MELINDA
Since we're already in the cockpit, I
can teach you the basic controls.
Let's call it... on-the-job training.

Melinda gets up and motions Harper to sit in the pilot

chair. She hops in without a second thought.

Harper eyes the controls like she fell in love.

HARPER
I've been waiting for this my whole
life.

MELINDA
We're going to Corinth, so I'll guide
you every step of the way.

Harper hugs her tight. Melinda takes it as a shock. Hesitant

at first, but hugs her right back.

MELINDA (cont'd)
Alright, that's enough of that. We
wouldn't want to crash this ship. I
happen to like it.

As Melinda sits with Harper, we PULL OUT of the cockpit,

watching Melinda and Harper share a Mother/Daughter moment.

EXT. CORINTH MAIN STREET - DAY

"CORINTH"

A modern bustling city. Palm trees line the Main Street.

There are many store-lined roads, vendors, and musicians.

Following Melinda as she makes her way down Main Street,

among the crowds of people and other alien species.

She enters a small Speakeasy -- THE BLACK CAT.

From afar, we see TROOPERS. Clad-in-black. Thane's Men.

Silently watching.

INT. UPPER LEVELS, THANE'S BASE - CONTINUOUS

Thane looks over his monitors, watching his Scientists

installing the Element Zero into something massive.

Mika ENTERS.
56.

THANE
What is it?

MIKA
(in Japanese)
Melinda's been spotted in the city.

Thane turns to face her.

THANE
Is that right?

He grins.

THANE (cont'd)
She's persistent. Bring her in.

INT. THE BLACK CAT - CONTINUOUS

THE BLACK CAT -- a luxurious speakeasy in a room that's just

the right size -- not too big, or small.

Wooden tiles cover the floor with several tables scattered

about. There's a stage right at the far end of the speakeasy
opposite the entrance.

A gorgeous WOMAN in a Red dress commands the microphone,

singing a sultry Jazz tune with a big band performing behind
her.

Melinda enters the club. All business, as she makes her way
across the bar.

In the corner, ZAREK, a six foot tall Grey skinned Reptile-

like humanoid with long, thick fingers and Talons on the tip
of his thumbs, sits in a bench, enjoying a nice a drink.

He looks up, noticing Melinda walking towards him.

ZAREK
Yes?

MELINDA
Mr. Zarek?

ZAREK
Correct.

MELINDA
I was recommended to you by Mr.
Montgomery.
57.

ZAREK
Ah.

Zarek finishes his drink.

ZAREK (cont'd)
Please, have a seat.

Melinda takes a seat across from him in his bench. The

WAITER brings over a tray of drinks. Zarek takes one.

ZAREK (cont'd)
Would you like a drink?

MELINDA
No thank you.

Zarek takes two more. The Waiter leaves.

MELINDA (cont'd)
Mr. Zarek, my name is Melinda Martel.
I was hoping that you could perhaps
provide some information for me on
the whereabouts of a Thane Korvax.
It's a matter of grave importance
that I find him. He's planning an
attack against the GSA and Council.

ZAREK
(off her look)
Aren't you supposed to have a team
with you?

MELINDA
No. It's just me.

ZAREK
Montgomery tells me you don't like
having a partner.

MELINDA
I don't. And if you've gone through
what I've gone through in my life,
you would see my point of view.

ZAREK
You've got a lot of learning to do,
Ms. Martel.

MELINDA
You don't know anything about me.
58.

ZAREK
I used to be like you. You want to be
a loner, follow your own path, and
make your own rules. You don't want
to be dependent on others, but
really, you just don't want another
person's death on your conscious. Am
I in the ballpark?

Melinda stays quiet. He's right, but she won't tell him
that.

ZAREK (cont'd)
There's some fights you can't win
single-handily. You keep this up,
sooner or later, you'll get yourself
killed. I've seen it happen.

Melinda just stares a hole through him.

ZAREK (cont'd)
(chuckles)
But what do I know?

MELINDA
Can you tell me about Thane, or can't
you?

ZAREK
(after a beat)
I have little birds all around
Corinth. They tell me things.

MELINDA
What kinds of things?

ZAREK
They tell me Thane has a base here
that they're operating out of.
Planning this attack you're so
concerned with.

MELINDA
Where is it -- this base?

ZAREK
Past this city is a Mountain range.
You look close enough, there's a base
in the mountains. That's where he is.

MELINDA
How do you know it's there? Have you
seen it yourself?
59.

ZAREK
My little birds have seen it. They
tell me this.

MELINDA
All this information, and you haven't
done anything about it?

ZAREK
I am merely a businessman. I'm not in
the habit of starting a War.

Melinda studies him, prepares another question.

MELINDA
One last thing. What can you tell me
about The Reapers?

Zarek freezes in place. He looks at Melinda. She leans in.

ZAREK
The only thing I can tell you is that
they've given me sleepless nights.
You better pray you never have to see
one of them with your own eyes.

A beat.

MELINDA
Thank you for your time, Mr. Zarek.

Melinda gets up...

ZAREK
Just think about what I said.

MELINDA
I think that when I apprehend Thane,
I'm coming after you for not turning
in a wanted terrorist.

Zarek watches Melinda as she leaves. He downs a drink.

EXT. CORINTH MAIN STREET - CONTINUOUS

The job completed, Melinda walks out of The Black Cat.

Thane's Soldiers creep back into frame. They've been waiting

this entire time. One of them gets on a CB Radio.
60.

TROOPER
(in radio)
Now.

Melinda walks down the street, unsuspecting...

HARPER (O.S.)
A base in the mountains? Seriously?

MELINDA
(into her comms)
That's what he said. He was going on
about how his "little birds" told him
about it.

HARPER (O.S.)
What, like spies?

MELINDA
I think so. Where are Bloom and
Tiran?

HARPER (O.S.)
Around the ship somewhere. I'm still
in the cockpit.

A large truck comes rumbling down the street...

MELINDA
I'm on my way back to the ship now.
Get them together and...

Melinda stops for a second and sees Vaughan emerge up out of

the roof with a mounted GRENADE LAUNCHER!

She dives for cover as Vaughan OPENS FIRE and a portion of

the street ENGULFS in flames!

INT. COCKPIT, MELINDA'S SHIP - CONTINUOUS

Harper sits in the cockpit, waiting for a response.

HARPER
Melinda? Melinda?!

Harper leaps out of her seat, and runs out of the cockpit.

HARPER (cont'd)
Bloom! Tiran!
61.

INT. CORINTH MAIN STREET - CONTINUOUS

Melinda takes cover while everybody runs in fear of their

lives. She tries SHOOTING her gun at the truck, which does
nothing, then decides to make a run for it.

Vaughan's truck follows her every step of the way. He

reloads and FIRES another round.

Melinda Reloads. She peers out of cover to fire...

BOOM! Another explosion, but she doesn't get away far enough
and gets BLASTED backwards across the ground.

Melinda lies unconscious on the ground from the impact of

hitting the ground after the blast.

A couple TROOPERS pop out of the truck Vaughan was riding

atop and drag Melinda's body into it.

Everybody piles into the truck and PEEL OUT.

INT. CORINTH MAIN STREET - MOMENTS LATER

Moments later, Bloom, Harper, and Tiran eventually arrive by

Hover Car, but they're too late. Harper frantically looks
around for Melinda, but everybody's gone.

All they see is the aftermath of the damage. Debris and

small fires everywhere.

HARPER
Shit.

INT. COMMAND DECK, MELINDA'S SHIP - LATER

Harper, Bloom, and Tiran in the bridge. Mr. Montgomery

appears on the Monitor Screen.

MR. MONTGOMERY
What are you doing there?!

HARPER
Never mind that right now, sir!
Melinda's been kidnapped!

BLOOM
Thane's people jumped her in the
streets, and by the time we got
there, she was already gone.
62.

MR. MONTGOMERY
Where did they take her?

HARPER
I talked with her before the attack.
She said something to me about Thane
having a base in the mountains.

TIRAN
If true, that's our play.

MR. MONTGOMERY
I've contacted Gateway, but the
Council have chosen to prepare
themselves and stay put, rather than
evacuating the whole station.

BLOOM
They're putting thousands of people
in danger.

MR. MONTGOMERY
I'll do what I can on my end. Find
Melinda. Contact me the second you
do. And Harper?

HARPER
Yes sir?

MR. MONTGOMERY
We'll talk more about this later.

The screen shuts off. Harper turns to Bloom and Tiran.

HARPER
Why didn't you guys go with Melinda?

BLOOM
She made it quite clear she didn't
want our help.

HARPER
What happened?

BLOOM
We both got out of line with each
other. Some things were said.

Harper looks to Tiran.

TIRAN
No real right, or wrong side. Both
equally at fault. Mission failed.
63.

TIRAN (cont'd)
Tensions were high. Emotions clouded
judgment. Affected actions.
(to Bloom)
Though, to be fair. Would have
punched you too.

HARPER
No way, she knocked you out?!

BLOOM
She didn't knock me out. She sucker
punched me. That's not the point.
Point is, if she hadn't shot her
mouth off, she wouldn't be in this
situation. She got into this herself,
she can get out of it herself.

HARPER
She's been through a lot, you know.

BLOOM
Tell her to join the goddamn club.
She's not the only person on this
ship with baggage.

Harper leaves and makes for the cockpit. Tiran remains.

Bloom gives him a look.

BLOOM (cont'd)
I'm sure you have something to say,
so let's hear it.

TIRAN
You need to get out of your own way.

BLOOM
Me? What about Melinda? I wouldn't
have said a thing if she didn't lay
into me first.

TIRAN
Not about who is right, or wrong.
Both of you must focus on what's
important. The Mission. Stopping
Thane. Not about you, or Melinda.
Mission is the only thing that
matters. Bigger than all of us. Lives
hanging in the balance.

Tiran walks up and places his arm on Bloom's shoulder.

64.

TIRAN (cont'd)
Won't win war unless you two make
amends. Do you want to lose another
one?

Bloom gives him a look.

INT. COCKPIT, MELINDA'S SHIP - CONTINUOUS

Harper sits in the cockpit, looking over the controls,

trying charting a course to go save Melinda.

BLOOM
Since when do you know how to fly a
ship?

Harper doesn't answer.

BLOOM (cont'd)
C'mon kid, gimme a break here.

HARPER
If you won't help Melinda, I'll do it
myself.

BLOOM
This isn't a game, kid. This is real.
You screw around, you die. Is this
really worth getting killed over?

HARPER
No. But saving Melinda is.

Harper turns to Bloom.

HARPER (cont'd)
I know it's hard, but we can't do
this if you two are at each others
throats. You two aren't on the same
page. You're not even reading from
the same book. If you're not gonna
help, then just leave me alone.

Harper turns back to the ship controls. Bloom moves to her.

BLOOM
Move over, kid. You'll get us all
killed.

Harper moves over to the co-pilot seat as Bloom sits in the

Pilot seat and takes command of the controls.
65.

HARPER
You got a plan?

BLOOM
Nah, we're just gonna wing it.

INT. INTERROGATION ROOM, THANE'S BASE - LATER

Melinda sits on one end of an Aluminum table in handcuffs.

Thane enters with two files under his arm and takes a seat.

THANE
Melinda Martel. The Agency's finest.
Nice to see you again so soon. Thank
you for dropping in.

MELINDA
(shows handcuffs)
I very much didn't have a choice in
the matter, did I?

THANE
(off Melinda's look)
You look upset.

MELINDA
It's been a long day.

THANE
Likewise.
(beat)
Allow me to properly introduce myself
to you. My name is Thane Korvax.

MELINDA
I know who you are, Thane. I know
what you are. I know what you're
doing. And I will stop you.

THANE
Forgive me if I'm not exactly
trembling in fear, what with you
handcuffed and separated from your
team. To be honest, I was looking
forward to seeing you again.

MELINDA
Why is that?

THANE
So that I could tell you the truth.
66.

MELINDA
What truth?

THANE
These people you work for have
manipulated everybody into believing
that we're all safe as long as
they're around.

Thane opens the file and shows Melinda several photos.

HUNDREDS of Bodies. ALL ALIEN. ALL DEAD.

Visual are eerily reminiscent of Thane's earlier flashbacks.

MELINDA
What is this?

THANE
What's left of the Leagarians and my
people, the Luscians.

MELINDA
How did you obtain these photos?

THANE
The people I've enlisted -- former
Agency operatives as well -- pledged
themselves to my cause once they saw
these photos and learned the truth.

MELINDA
What is this truth you keep prattling
on about?

THANE
The Leagarians were a pack of
barbarians that routinely ignored
galactic policies and acted as they
pleased. They were too dangerous and
breeding like crazy. My homeworld was
just the fifth one they invaded and
sought to take over. When they drove
us off the planet, I tried to used my
assets when I was still with the
Agency to help. I went to The
Council. They said they would assist
us in going to war with them to
reclaim the world.
(beat)
Little did I know, they were leading
my people into a slaughter. They
never thought we'd win.
67.

THANE (cont'd)
So, we were used us bait to lure
every Leagarian to that world, and
they wiped everybody out. Everybody
except me.

This news hits Melinda like a ton of bricks.

THANE (cont'd)
The GSA killed my people. The Council
gave the order.

MELINDA
They killed both races on purpose?

THANE
They saw an opportunity to eliminate
a threat and took it. Their solution
was Mass Genocide. My people were
collateral damage. There weren't that
many of us left, so what's one less
race in the galaxy?
(beat)
And the worst of it? Nobody know what
really happened. As far as the galaxy
is concerned, we blew ourselves up.
This is what happens when people have
too much power and abuse it. That's
what you stand for. I stand for
everything that is real.

MELINDA
So, this is revenge?

THANE
This is about so much more than
revenge. This is justice for my
people, whose deaths were never
acknowledged and the murderers who
were never held accountable for it. I
have everything I need to expose your
agency, the Council, and their
actions, but it's not enough. They
need to feel the full weight of what
they've done. Tenfold. They've made
their bed, and I'm going to bury them
in it.

Melinda takes a minute to digest all of this.

MELINDA
I understand what you're feeling--
68.

THANE
You could never understand!

Thane rises in anger. Melinda shows a slight hint of fear.

THANE (cont'd)
Watch your whole race extinguished by
people you thought you could trust.
Be the last of your own species, and
maybe then you'll understand.

MELINDA
This isn't the way, Thane. If you go
through with this. Hundreds may die.

THANE
Hundreds will die for the thousands
I've lost. Their debts must be paid.

MELINDA
You do this, and then what? Will it
make you feel better? It won't bring
your people back. You'll still be the
last of your kind.

THANE
I can rest knowing my people have
been avenged and their killers
brought to justice.

Thane makes for the door.

MELINDA
You have to know that somehow you
will be stopped.

Thane turns back and stands over Melinda.

THANE
There isn't a force of nature, or an
act of God that can stop me.

With that, Thane leaves.

EXT. MOUNTAINS, CORINTH - MOMENTS LATER

Sweeping over great rock formations and mountains.

CLOSING IN ON...

A large FACE STATUE, sticking out of one of the mountains.

69.

On top of it, sits a large base. THANE'S BASE.

Melinda's ship BOLTS past us, flying towards the base.

EXT. THANE'S BASE, CORINTH - LATER

There's a platform nearby that the ship lands on.

Bloom, Tiran, and Harper pile out, armed, and observing

their surroundings.

BLOOM
I don't like this.

TIRAN
What is it?

BLOOM
I feel like they should've known we
were coming. I was expecting an
ambush.

HARPER
Look!

Everybody looks up in awe to see--

An IMMENSE SPACESHIP FRIGATE, taking off in the distance.

Close to 2,000 ft in length, powered by the blue Element
Zero, expelled through their exhausts to generate thrust.

TIRAN
What--?

HARPER
It's a ship! Look at the size of it!

BLOOM
That's gotta be Thane's ship.

HARPER
Come on, maybe Melinda's still
inside.

INT. CORRIDOR, THANE'S BASE - CONTINUOUS

Bloom runs the point, while Tiran and Harper cover him. It's
quiet. Too quiet. Strangely enough, there are no Soldiers
anywhere. Not a single one.
70.

TIRAN
Nobody here. Very unsettling.

BLOOM
If there's nobody here, we don't have
to worry about being loud.
(shouting)
MELINDA!

INT. INTERROGATION ROOM, THANE'S BASE - CONTINUOUS

Melinda is hopelessly pulling at her handcuffs. Then, she

stops, hearing Bloom's loud voice through the door.

MELINDA
I'M IN HERE!

She repeatedly clangs her handcuffs against the table.

INT. CORRIDOR, THANE'S BASE - CONTINUOUS

The group spins around and runs back in the direction of the
clanging. They run until they locate the right door, and try
pushing it open.

HARPER
It won't budge!

BLOOM
Stand back.

INT. INTERROGATION ROOM, THANE'S BASE - CONTINUOUS

The door BURSTS open under the force of Bloom's shoulder.

Bloom stumbles in, nearly falling. Tiran and Harper follow.

BLOOM
Well, look at this! Appears I got
here just in time. What does that
make me?

MELINDA
Late.

Bloom kneels down, whips out a lock pick and goes to work on
Melinda's handcuffs.

MELINDA (cont'd)
You know how to pick locks?
71.

BLOOM
I'm full of surprises.

Bloom frees Melinda and Harper gives her a BIG Hug, burying
her head in Melinda's chest. Melinda embraces her back.

MELINDA
Nice to see you too, Harper. Thank
you all for coming. Did you see Thane
on your way in?

TIRAN
He's gone. Flew away in this huge
ship. Surprisingly, base empty. Bad
feeling. Need to leave now.

MELINDA
You're right, let's go.

INT. BRIDGE, THANE'S FRIGATE - CONTINUOUS

Thane watches on his screens.

THANE
Before we set a course for Gateway, I
want to test our weapon.

WORKER
Right away, sir.

WORKER #2
What should we target?

THANE
The base, of course.

EXT. SKY - DAY

A Mounted Gun emerges below the massive Frigate. It looks

like nothing at first, until it transforms into something
BIGGER -- A LARGE CANNON.

INT. BRIDGE, THANE'S FRIGATE - CONTINUOUS

The WORKERS turn to Thane as he continues watching.

WORKER
Weapon is armed and ready, sir.
72.

THANE
Fire.

EXT. SKY - CONTINUOUS

The Frigate's cannon CHARGES UP by GLOWING. A gigantic

bright Blue Laser Beam SHOOTS out and STRIKES the Mountain.

I/E. THANE'S BASE - CONTINUOUS

The Frigate blast has caused the base to start caving in.

Melinda, Bloom, Tiran, and Harper run through the base,

dodging large pieces of falling rocks along the way.

Harper ends up tripping and falling on her face. A piece of

rock is about to flatten her like a pancake, but Bloom YANKS
her out of the way and carries her.

DAYLIGHT as the four of them exit the base onto the platform
they landed on.

The base is FALLING APART. Pieces of it literally dropping

off the mountains.

The four of them make a MAD DASH for Melinda's ship,

reaching just in the nick of time for them to board and
escape their doomed situation.

Melinda's ship flies away as the entire base is eventually

REDUCED to RUBBLE, falling into the water below. Very little
left of it all.

INT. BRIDGE, THANE'S FRIGATE - CONTINUOUS

Thane watches on, impressed with his new toy.

THANE
That was an impressive test run. I
think it's time for a real show. Set
a course for Gateway.

INT. COMMAND DECK, MELINDA'S SHIP - LATER

Everybody meets back up on the Bridge.

MELINDA
Is everybody okay?
73.

BLOOM
Lucky to be alive for sure.

MELINDA
Thankfully you all showed up when you
did.

TIRAN
Thane's ship is powerful. Too
powerful. Will be at Gateway in no
time at all. Need to move now to
catch him.

MELINDA
Wait.

Everybody turns back to her.

MELINDA (cont'd)
I want to apologize for what I said
earlier. I was used to working alone,
and had every intention of keeping it
that way. I thought I didn't need
help. I quickly saw how wrong I was.

BLOOM
This isn't a trick, right?

MELINDA
No, I assure you, it's not. I can't
do this alone. The only way to stop
Thane is by working together. I know
that now.
(beat)
I also apologize for what I said to
you, Bloom. My actions and words were
very much uncalled for. I didn't mean
to insult you, or what you've done.

Bloom walks up to her.

BLOOM
I'm sorry too. What I said to you
before was way out of line.

MELINDA BLOOM
But you were right. But you were right.

They give each other a look and start chuckling.

MELINDA
We've both had our fair share of
grief, but we can't let it define us.
74.

MELINDA (cont'd)
And we can't take it out on each
other either.

BLOOM
You're right. Especially since we've
got larger concerns to deal with.

Melinda and Bloom shake hands, galvanized and full of

purpose. Tiran comes up, nodding approvingly.

TIRAN
Now, we can finish mission. Thane
stands no chance.

Harper can't contain her excitement and hugs them all.

HARPER
Oh, you guys! I'm so happy that we're
finally a team!

BLOOM
Alright, kid, get off me.

Harper lets go. Bloom gives her a fist bump.

BLOOM (cont'd)
We should probably let Montgomery
know just what is we're dealing with.

MELINDA
That's a good idea. I have some
questions for him myself.

INT. DRIVE CORE, THANE'S FRIGATE - MOMENTS LATER

Thane, Mika, and Vaughn walk through a corridor and into the
drive core area where several WORKERS are at their stations.

The Element Zero powering the Drive Core has been placed in
the center of a large glass cylinder casing with three light
rings around it.

A SCIENTIST is brought forward, surrounded by Gun-toting

Soldiers.

Thane greets him with a grin on his face.

THANE
Hello, Doctor. The weapon works
better than I thought it would. I
thank you for your service.
75.

SCIENTIST
We've done what you asked. My team
installed the element. Let us go.

THANE
What's your rush? Why don't you stay
for a while? We're not finished
having fun yet.

SCIENTIST
Has anybody ever told you how much of
a madman you are?

Mika DRAWS a dagger and holds it at his throat.

THANE
Would you care to be the first?

The Scientist falls back, not ready to die just yet.

THANE (cont'd)
(to Mika and Vaughn)
Take him to the cells.

Mika and Vaughan drag The Scientist away against his will.

SCIENTIST
The GSA will come for you!

THANE
Yeah, I'll be ready for them.

INT. COMMAND DECK, MELINDA'S SHIP - LATER

Mr. Montgomery appears on the Monitor screen.

MR. MONTGOMERY
It's nice to see that you're alright,
Melinda.

MELINDA
Thank you. Mr. Montgomery, I have a
question that I'm only going to ask
once and I want an honest answer.

MR. MONTGOMERY
What is it?

MELINDA
Were you involved in a plot to murder
two Alien races with a biological
weapon and covering it up?
76.

The whole room goes silent. All eyes on Mr. Montgomery.

MR. MONTGOMERY
I don't see what that has to do
with--

MELINDA
It's not a difficult question -- yes,
or no?

MR. MONTGOMERY
(after a beat)
Yes. I was. How do you--

MELINDA
Thane shared the details with me.
Told me how you and the Council used
his people to exterminate a barbaric
alien race along with his own.
Miraculously, he survived, and now
he's coming after you all.

A beat.

MR. MONTGOMERY
You weren't there. I don't expect you
to understand. A decision had to be
made.

TIRAN
Mass genocide not the answer. Highly
reckless. Incredibly stupid. My
people frown upon such things.

MR. MONTGOMERY
The Council masterminded the whole
thing. I was just following orders.

MELINDA
Thane lost his entire bloodline
because of men just following orders.

HARPER
Did you even try to stop them?

MR. MONTGOMERY
I tried speaking up, but I had no
authority in the situation.

MELINDA
And yet there you are. If you really
believed it was wrong, you would've
left.
77.

MR. MONTGOMERY
Thane is a maniac. We're finding out
firsthand that anger is a dangerous
thing put in the hands of a man like
that.

BLOOM
(catching on)
It's all starting to make sense now.
You people don't want us to stop
Thane because of his attack. You're
afraid he'll expose everything. He's
nothing but a loose end. The Council
had Montgomery hire us to do their
dirty work.

A beat.

HARPER
Is that true?

MR. MONTGOMERY
All that matters now is Thane is
planning to attack Gateway. If we
don't beat him there and stop him,
it'll be nothing but a debris field.

MELINDA
(sighs)
Unfortunately, he's right.

EVERYONE
HE IS?!?!

MELINDA
Yes. We need to stop Thane.
(to Montgomery)
We'll continue this conversation
later.

Melinda shuts the Monitor off. There's a moment of silence.

MELINDA (cont'd)
We have to bring Thane down. There's
no way around it. He's angry. He's
justified, but we can't let him
murder hundreds of innocents. Let's
suit up.
78.

INT. ARMORY, MELINDA'S SHIP - CONTINUOUS

A hatch door SLIDES UP. Melinda flips on the lights to a

large weapons room.

MELINDA
I didn't think I'd be using this room
again so soon, but now is as good a
time as any.

HARPER
(amazed)
Whoa...

ALL TYPES of guns, gadgets, and other weapons line the

walls. The bigger, more fancier looking guns are rested on
these desks in the middle of the room.

MELINDA
We're going to War. Best pick your
poison now.

MONTAGE

- Bloom stays with his original weapon and deploys his

Deflector Shield as a test.

- Melinda equips herself with her dual Mateba Autorevolvers,

packing some ammo in a bandoleer ammo belt.

- Dr. Tiran AIMS his Laser Crossbow. Locked. Loaded. Ready.

- Harper grabs a LIGHTER from the wall and starts playing

with it until Melinda quickly takes it away from her.

MELINDA (cont'd)
This is not a toy.

HARPER
How harmful can a lighter be?

MELINDA
This is not a lighter. It's a hand
grenade. It could blow the entire
ship to Heaven's gate right along
with the rest of us.

HARPER
Oops. Sorry.

Melinda hands her a gun.

79.

HARPER (cont'd)
Thanks.

Tiran watches Melinda put the lighter back.

INT. COMMAND DECK, MELINDA'S SHIP - MOMENTS LATER

Melinda, Bloom, Tiran, and Harper walk towards and into the
bridge, ready for battle.

Mr. Montgomery is waiting for them on the Monitor Screen.

MELINDA
Mr. Montgomery.

MR. MONTGOMERY
How long until you reach Gateway?

MELINDA
We'll be there soon.

TIRAN
Won't arrive in time to stop initial
attack, however.

MR. MONTGOMERY
Not to worry. After Melinda was
kidnapped, I assembled a fleet and
we're headed there as we speak.

The camera is YANKED away from Mr. Montgomery and over to

FAYE and DALTON.

FAYE
Melinda! Is that really you? My, are
you a sight for sore eyes!

MELINDA
Faye! Dalton! It's good to see you.

DALTON
Good to see you're still alive.

FAYE
I feared the worst myself.

Dalton notices Harper.

DALTON
Wait a minute, what the hell is that
little kid doing there?!
80.

Everybody looks at Harper.

HARPER
(nervous)
Uh... hi, Mr. Dalton, sir.

DALTON
I knew somebody was missing from the
head count. You are gonna be in so
much SHIT when you get back here!

Mr. Montgomery takes the camera back.

MR. MONTGOMERY
Focusing on the matter at hand, what
exactly are we dealing with?

BLOOM
If you've seen the things we've seen,
it'll take a miracle to stop what
Thane is bringing.

MR. MONTGOMERY
The Council assembled a small team on
the ground to help with crowd
control, ground to air defense, and
possible evacuation until we get
there. I hope the four of you have a
plan.

Harper slowly raises her hand.

MR. MONTGOMERY (cont'd)

Yes, Ms. Harper?

Everybody looks her way.

HARPER
I actually may have an idea.

EXT. SPACE - LATER

Thane's Frigate BURSTS onto the scene, emerging out of FTL

before the majestic rotating station -- GATEWAY, spinning
slowly in space.

INT. GATEWAY - CONTINUOUS

Complete with Artificial sunlight, we sweep over hundreds of

houses and buildings built along the curvings of the walls.
81.

Moving over to a lush parkland with a large number of trees,

fields of grass, and a freshwater lake.

PEOPLE of ALL races and exotic species move past each other
and chat along the curvature as the habitat stretches out
behind them. The playful sounds of CHILDREN, running around
and enjoying themselves.

Everybody looks upwards, finally seeing what's coming for

them...

INT. BRIDGE, THANE'S FRIGATE - CONTINUOUS

Thane watches on from the bridge, very much in control.

WORKER
Waiting on your word, sir.

THANE
Bombs away.

EXT. SPACE - CONTINUOUS

We push in close on The Frigate. Several MISSILE PODS

appear, pointed at Gateway, prepared to fire.

In Orchestra-like fashion, DOZENS and DOZENS of missiles

come exploding out of their pods, all ROCKETING towards
Gateway with malicious intent.

INT. GATEWAY - CONTINUOUS

DESTRUCTION starts raining on Gateway from above.

Numerous FIREBALLS explode in scattered areas, sending

people running in fear of their lives.

GATEWAY SOLDIERS arrive on the scene to guide the people to

safety as the bombing continues.

EXT. SPACE - CONTINUOUS

DOZENS of Gateway Defense Starships SOAR into space and

immediately BOMBARD the Frigate with missile fire, but to no
avail.

The Frigate moves forward, continuing to bomb Gateway, as

tiny fireballs explode on the surface.
82.

It all seems hopeless...

INT. BRIDGE, THANE'S FRIGATE - CONTINUOUS

There's a PINGING sound one of the computers. The FEMALE

WORKER reacts.

WORKER
Sir, I'm picking up something on our
large range sensors. Coming in fast.

Thane looks up at the screen, not ready for what's coming...

EXT. WARP - CONTINUOUS

The Galaxy becomes brighter as we ZIP through a barrier

where the stars are moving so rapidly, they appear to us as
small streaks of light.

Then, about thirty or more ships RACE at FTL speeds through

Warp, being led by a GREAT Warship.

The Calvary has arrived -- THE GALACTIC SECURITY AGENCY!

EXT. SPACE - CONTINUOUS

The whole fleet drops out of warp, all at once, JETTING

right for Thane's Frigate.

INT. BRIDGE, THANE'S FRIGATE - CONTINUOUS

Thane looks on as the fleet and the Warship move in on him.

INT. MAIN BRIDGE, GSA WARSHIP - CONTINUOUS

Mr. Montgomery stands on the bridge, surrounded by several

AGENTS and WORKERS manning their stations.

MR. MONTGOMERY
Everyone, this is it. Be ready on my
signal.

INT. BRIDGE, THANE'S FRIGATE - CONTINUOUS

Thane watches on, motionless.

83.

THANE
Wipe them out.

INT. MAIN BRIDGE, GSA WARSHIP - CONTINUOUS

Montgomery watches The Frigate. Calm, very much in control.

MR. MONTGOMERY
Fire!

EXT. SPACE - CONTINUOUS

A HAILSTORM of LASER FIRE from the GSA Fleet against Thane's

Frigate!

Small fireballs explode on the Frigate, but the ship is so

large and durable, it's like the lasers are tickling the
Frigate, making no real damage.

Several ferocious ships race out the Frigate's hangar and

engage the other ships.

EXT. GATEWAY - CONTINUOUS

The Citizens of Gateway stare up the space battle taking

place above them.

More Gateway ships fly out to join the fight.

INT. MAIN BRIDGE, GSA WARSHIP - CONTINUOUS

Montgomery continues to survey the action.

MR. MONTGOMERY
All ships engage the target!

EXT. SPACE - CONTINUOUS

The GSA Fleet moves in, BLASTING and FIRING as they advance
on their colossal opposition.

Still nothing. They can barely dent this beast.

It's The Frigate's turn...

The MASSIVE Mounted Gun comes out. It transforms into the

MEGA-Cannon from earlier.
84.

It CHARGES... then FIRES a blue beam, TEARING through most

of the Gateway fighter ships and GSA Fleet of ships.

The cannon retreats back into the ship.

Two ships fly around in the chaos of the laser fire, and
make a play for the lower outer hull of the Frigate.

INT. FAYE'S COCKPIT - CONTINUOUS

FAYE'S POV

Thane's Frigate. Even from a distance, it looks massive. It

only gets bigger and bigger the closer she gets to it.

FAYE
Dalton, you with me?

INT. DALTON'S COCKPIT - CONTINUOUS

Dalton adjust his controls and grips both throttles.

DALTON
I'm right here, baby. Fire everything
we got!

EXT. SPACE - CONTINUOUS

Both Starships UNLEASH missiles and lasers, concentrating

fire on the Frigate's lower outer hull.

INT. DALTON'S COCKPIT - CONTINUOUS

Dalton growls. Focused and intense.

INT. FAYE'S COCKPIT - CONTINUOUS

Beads of sweat run down Faye's face. She grits her teeth.

FAYE
Come on!

EXT. SPACE - CONTINUOUS

They keep firing and repeatedly pounding that same spot with
high-powered laser fire, generating tremendous amounts of
heat until...
85.

BOOM! A WEAK SPOT. A hole blows open in the Frigate's hull!

INT. DALTON'S COCKPIT - CONTINUOUS

Dalton pumps his fist.

DALTON
YES!

INT. FAYE'S COCKPIT - CONTINUOUS

FAYE
(into comms)
Melinda, now!

EXT. SPACE - CONTINUOUS

Melinda's ship BOOMS out of WARP. It arrives on the scene

ZOOMING for the exposed opening.

It hovers below and expels a DRILL TUNNEL from the side of

the ship that fits right through.

INT. BRIDGE, THANE'S FRIGATE - CONTINUOUS

Thane is getting just a little bit nervous.

THANE
Status report?

WORKER
Shields at 67%. Weapon will take
another minute or so to recharge.

WORKER #2
Sir, there's a breach in level 4.

THANE
(into comms)
Mika. Vaughan. We have intruders.

INT. HALL, THANE'S FRIGATE - CONTINUOUS

Melinda and Bloom stride down a hall.

MELINDA
(into her comms)
Faye, how is it out there?
86.

FAYE (O.S.)
We're right as rain, Melinda. Dalton
and I are gonna rejoin the fleet.

MELINDA
Be careful out there.

FAYE (O.S.)
Be careful in there.

MELINDA
Copy.

Just as she finishes speaking, she and Bloom cross paths

with several of Thane's Armed MOOKS in an open hall.

Melinda and Bloom trade looks and grin. Both of them now n
the same page.

The Soldiers, immediately open fire. Bloom draws his

DEFLECTOR SHIELD, snaring every bullet. He pushes ahead.
Melinda, with her guns drawn, follows closely behind.

Melinda FIRES over Bloom's shoulder, dropping two soldiers.

Bloom drops his shield and DROPS four more soldiers.

Melinda and Bloom proceed to move like a two-man army.

He THRUST KICKS one into the wall, SHOOTING him dead. One
Trooper turns the corner. Bloom ELBOWS him in the face,
takes him down, and SHOOTS him too.

One Soldier GRABS Melinda from behind. She struggles for a

bit as a second one CHARGES.

Melinda gets her feet up DROPKICKING the incoming trooper.

She JUDO FLIPS the man holding her, and SHOOTS him too.

Bloom extends his hand, helping Melinda to her feet.

MELINDA (cont'd)
We have to find Thane. My guess,
he'll be on the bridge.

Bloom stops, sensing something. Suddenly, A WHIRRING SOUND.

Without warning, he pushes Melinda to the floor and backs up

as a DAGGER hurls past him and gets stuck in the wall.

MIKA stands against them. Bloom turns to face her.

Melinda stands up, ready for a fight. Bloom cuts her off.
87.

BLOOM
Go after Thane. Leave her to me.

MELINDA
Bloom, I can't let you...

BLOOM
Just go, okay? I got this.

Bloom gives Melinda a reassuring look. She leaves. Bloom

faces off against the beautiful assassin.

BLOOM (cont'd)
You owe me a rematch.

Mika smirks and draws two daggers.

INT. ENGINEERING DECK, THANE'S FRIGATE - CONTINUOUS

Tiran and Harper scope out the Engineering Deck, striding

through the area.

TIRAN
You sure it is on this level?

HARPER
The ship's core is powered by the
Element Zero. It'll be here. Just get
me there, and I can disable it.

VAUGHAN emerges from nowhere like a Horror movie villain,

TACKLING Tiran and planting him in the ground. He goes for
an overhead strike, but hits the ground as Tiran moves away.

Tiran looks to Harper.

TIRAN
GO!

Harper makes a run for the ship's Drive Core.

Tiran immediately goes for his pistol. Vaughan knocks it out

of his hand and BACKHANDS Tiran to the floor.

INT. DRIVE CORE, THANE'S FRIGATE - CONTINUOUS

Harper enters the Drive Core, confronted by an ARMED

SOLDIER.

Without hesitation, he SHOOTS. We follow the bullet as it

hurtles towards Harper, who FIRES A BULLET--
88.

HITTING THE OTHER BULLET IN MID-AIR!

It deflects off, landing in the soldier's leg!

The Soldier goes down. Harper looks at her gun in amazement.

HARPER
Whoa...

Harper passes by the Soldier, writhing in pain...

HARPER (cont'd)
Oh, shut up.

... and SHOOTS him.

She approaches the control panel and looks up...

HARPER (cont'd)
Holy Shit...

... staring down the Element Zero in its massive casing.

HARPER (cont'd)
(exhales)
Okay, Harper. You got this.

EXT. SPACE - CONTINUOUS

The Frigate continues getting fired upon by more missiles,

but the damage is a little more apparent this time.

EXT. BRIDGE, THANE'S SHIP - CONTINUOUS

Thane looks on, nervous. He knows his almighty Frigate isn't

as invincible as he once thought.

THANE
Arm the weapon. Destroy everything.

INT. HALL, THANE'S FRIGATE - CONTINUOUS

Mika SLINGS dagger after dagger towards Bloom, who has his
Deflector Shield up, blocking them all. He pushes towards
her with a plan in mind.

On the side of his pistol, he presses a blue button. The

shield FIRES a SHOCKWAVE in front of Bloom, THROWING Mika
back across the hall.
89.

Bloom pushes forward, but that last attack has seemingly

drained the rest of his shield's fuel and it BURNS OUT.

The shield dissipates. Bloom is wide open for attack.

BLOOM
Ah, crap.

Mika FLIES IN and KICKS HIM IN THE FACE!

Bloom is sent across the hall, rolling across the floor.

Mika pounces and busts out KICKS and LEG SWEEPS, sending
Bloom THUDDING against a wall.

Mika TOSSES a dagger in Bloom's direction, but he ducks out

of the way. She draws two more daggers and pounces once
again. Bloom is able to dodge her attacks and keep up with
her step-for-step.

In a brief melee, Bloom is able to GRAB both Mika's arms,

back her against the wall and DRIVE BOTH DAGGERS INTO HER
CHEST! He RIPS them out, and tosses them to the floor.

Mika drives him back with a kick. She's weak, but still
fighting. She goes to draw one last dagger, but Bloom DRAWS
another GUN and SHOOTS Mika dead.

She slides down the wall, and dies.

INT. ENGINEERING DECK, THANE'S FRIGATE - CONTINUOUS

Tiran CRASHES into a stack of crates.

Vaughan makes his move. SWING AND A MISS. Tiran comes back
with some well placed shots, and a knee to the face,
staggering the big man, almost taking him off his feet.

The big man swings his arm. Tiran grabs it, trying to
overpower the big man and push him back. Vaughan punches
Tiran's face with his fist, knocking him to the ground.

VAUGHAN
Get up! Walk it off!

Tiran swipes the blood from his lips and sees his crossbow
on the ground. He gets to his feet and RUNS AT VAUGHAN.

Vaughan sprints as well. Tiran SLIDES and DUCKS between

Vaughan's legs, and gets his crossbow back.
90.

He FIRES several blaster bolts into Vaughan's chest. Each

bolt drives him backwards, until he's down to one knee.
Badly hurt, but shockingly, the big man's not dead yet.

Tiran now reveals a LIGHTER. He flips open the top and

TOSSES it in Vaughan's direction. The Big Man looks up and
sees a blinking lighter RIGHT NEAR HIS FACE...

It EXPLODES as Tiran ducks down behind some machinery. He

looks back at the explosion.

TIRAN
Walk that off.

EXT. SPACE - CONTINUOUS

The Cannon reveals itself once more, preparing to fire.

INT. DRIVE CORE, THANE'S FRIGATE - CONTINUOUS

FAYE (O.S.)
Harper, the weapon is gettin' ready
to fire again. Whatever you're doing
in there, do it now!

HARPER
(into her comms)
I'm trying to manually deactivate the
core, but nothing is working.

A light bulb goes off in her head. Harper backs up, draws
her gun, and SHOOTS THE GLASS surrounding the drive core.

There's glass everywhere on the floor. Harper walks up and

simply plucks the Element Zero out of the machine, and
SMASHES it on the ground.

EXT. SPACE - CONTINUOUS

The whole Frigate SHUTS DOWN. The Cannon's core DIMS and the
the light FADES AWAY, powering it down.

The Frigate's most powerful weapon is no more.

INT. BRIDGE, THANE'S FRIGATE - CONTINUOUS

Thane looks confused.

91.

THANE
What happened? Why isn't the weapon
firing?

WORKER
The Cannon is not responding, sir.
Nothing is responding. I think the
whole core has been disabled.

Thane is NOT happy to hear this news. He looks like he's

about to LOSE IT.

WORKER #2
Orders, sir?

With everything falling apart around him, Thane manages to

pull himself together.

THANE
Listen to me very carefully.

INT. UPPER FLIGHT DECK, THANE'S FRIGATE - CONTINUOUS

Melinda moves through the Frigate, looking for Thane.

HARPER (O.S.)
(over comms)
Melinda, the drive core has been
disabled. All their weapons and
barriers are offline.

MELINDA
(into comms)
Great job, Harper. Rendezvous with
Tiran. I'm going after Thane.

INT. BRIDGE, THANE'S FRIGATE - CONTINUOUS

Melinda BURSTS onto the bridge, weapon drawn. All the

Workers turn with shock and stick their hands up.

NO THANE.

MELINDA
Where is he?!
92.

INT. HANGAR, THANE'S FRIGATE - CONTINUOUS

A door slides up to reveal Thane entering a Hangar Bay. He

commandeers the first ship he finds and loads it up with
some gear before jumping into the cockpit.

INT. BRIDGE, THANE'S FRIGATE - CONTINUOUS

Melinda watches from the Bridge window as Thane's Dropship

BULLETS out the Hangar towards Gateway. She takes off
running.

INT. CORRIDOR, THANE'S FRIGATE - CONTINUOUS

Melinda moves down the hall. Bloom emerges from an adjacent

corridor and joins her mid-movement.

BLOOM
Where's the fire?

MELINDA
Thane escaped on a ship heading for
Gateway.

BLOOM
Why wouldn't he just escape?

MELINDA
I don't know, but we have the bastard
right where we want him.

EXT. GATEWAY - CONTINUOUS

Thane's ship touches down onto the surface. He gets out,

surveying the carnage he's caused.

He looks off in the distance--

THE COUNCIL TOWER. Headquarter for the Council Members.

Thane marches forward with malicious intent.

INT. HANGAR, THANE'S FRIGATE - CONTINUOUS

Melinda and Bloom reach a hangar with a few ships, picking

the first one they see in line.
93.

INT. SHIP - CONTINUOUS

Melinda moves quickly to the cockpit, looking over the

controls. Bloom straps himself in next to her. She looks up
through the windows at the air war continuing to go on -- a
frenzied display of destruction.

Melinda reaches for the controls.

EXT. SPACE - CONTINUOUS

The ship DASHES out of the hangar, hurtling past ships and
parts of ships flinging about.

EXT. GATEWAY - CONTINUOUS

Melinda's ship touches down on the surface. She exits with

Bloom, looking around.

BLOOM
Where's Thane? His ship is here.

Melinda's face changes. She realizes. The penny drops.

MELINDA
My God. We need to move. Come on!

EXT. GALACTIC COUNCIL HEADQUARTERS - CONTINUOUS

At the epicenter of Gateway is a large sprawling office

building complex. Behind it, a large tower looms over it.

Melinda and Bloom arrive on the scene, but too late.

There's DEAD BODIES scattered on the grounds already.

INT. MAIN LOBBY, GALACTIC COUNCIL HEADQUARTERS - CONTINUOUS

Melinda and Bloom enter, immediately hearing gunfire. PEOPLE

screaming and running past them.

They eventually see Thane marching towards the elevator.

MELINDA
Thane!

Thane stops. His back to us. He sticks his hands up.

94.

MELINDA (cont'd)
It's over, Thane. Every advantage you
had is gone. Don't make this any
worse than it has to be.

He turns--

A BOMB VEST IS STRAPPED TO HIS CHEST.

Melinda and Bloom freeze in place, trading worried looks.

Thane draws a gun and FIRES in Melinda's direction...

BLOOM JUMPS IN FRONT AND TAKES THE BULLET!

MELINDA (cont'd)
Bloom!

Bloom goes down and Thane turns his attention to Melinda,

who has her gun pointed at him.

Melinda stands panic stricken.

THANE
You know how powerful the explosives
on this vest are? All I have to do is
press this button and... let's just
say, there'd be little left of us
both to clean up.

Melinda tightens the grip on her gun.

THANE (cont'd)
You shoot me, the vest will explode
and take the both of us and half this
place with it. If I were you, I'd
choose my next move very carefully.

THANE (cont'd)
You can't talk your way out of this!

Melinda makes a bold move and puts her gun on the ground.
She slowly walks towards Thane with her hands up.

THANE (cont'd)
W-What are you doing?

Melinda inches closer...

MELINDA
Calling your bluff.
95.

THANE
Are you willing to die for this?

MELINDA
I am. But you're not.

Thane gives her a troubled look.

THANE
Don't test me, Melinda.

Melinda continues advancing without saying a word.

Thane is suddenly now hesitant. Maybe he hasn't thought this

whole thing through.

MELINDA
You see? You know this is wrong. In
your heart, you know you're wrong.

THANE
Why are you fighting me on this? You
should be by my side, helping me
bring this corrupt system down. You
would rather kill me, and let them
get away with murder instead? The
murder and slaughter of my people! My
wife! My children!

Melinda studies Thane. She feels remorse and empathy.

THANE (cont'd)
It's not the first time, and it won't
be the last. I can stop them here and
now. You kill me, I take you with me.

MELINDA
I don't want to kill you, Thane. All
I want is to show you a different
path. You can still expose them. You
can have your justice, but not this
way. Look around.

Thane turns and sees the wreckage outside. The small fires,
the corpses, the dozens of people crying out for help.

All this madness and chaos... done by his hand. He's

recreated the same situation that happened to him.

He takes a long hard look at what he's done, and it starts

to register.
96.

MELINDA (cont'd)
It's too much.

Melinda inches even closer... extending her hand out to him.

MELINDA (cont'd)
Enough. Let it end.

A beat.

Thane rejects Melinda, and gives her a stern look.

THANE
It ends when I say it ends.

MELINDA
So be it.

....THEN....

A SMALL PISTOL appears in Melinda's hand from a metal

sliding underneath her sleeve. Melinda FIRES one bullet--

IN AND OUT OF THANE'S HEAD!

Thane starts falling backwards to the ground, but Melinda

catches him before he can hit. She gently places his head
down on the ground and DISABLES the bomb vest.

Melinda gets up and puts away her gun. She looks down at
Thane, somber. She didn't want to kill him, but he left her
no choice.

Bloom joins Melinda, holding his shoulder. Both of them

stand over Thane's lifeless corpse.

BLOOM
How'd you know he wouldn't do it?

MELINDA
(after a beat)
I didn't.
(off Bloom's look)
I thought you were dead.

BLOOM
Yeah, me too.

MELINDA
You took a bullet for me.
97.

BLOOM
I did, didn't I? Don't get used to
it.

Melinda can't help but chuckle.

MELINDA
Thank you, Bloom.

BLOOM
No problem.
(after a beat)
You know, my arm kinda hurts.

MELINDA
I'll help you back. We're all done
here.

Melinda helps Bloom back to the ship and GATEWAY SOLDIERS

move in on Thane's body.

FADE TO BLACK

FADE IN:

WEEKS LATER.

ON A TELEVISION SET:

In a TV Montage, the clean up begins on Gateway as

construction is underway.

FEMALE ANCHOR: (O.S.)

Construction has commenced as Gateway
is still reeling from the terrorist
attack, orchestrated by terror cell
led by a man named Thane Korvax, a
former Galactic Security Operative.

INT. NEWSROOM - CONTINUOUS

A FEMALE ANCHOR sits at her desk.

FEMALE ANCHOR
In other news, after it was made
public that Director Allan Montgomery
was behind the cover up of the
Massacre on Kresslin, resulting in
the extinction of two Alien races, he
was officially released from his
position, and had this to say in his
last public address.
98.

INT. ASSEMBLY AREA, COUNCIL HEADQUARTERS - CONTINUOUS

A capacity crowd of REPORTERS and PUBLIC.

MONTGOMERY is at the podium, flanked by TWO GUARDS and half

a dozen others stationed around the area.

MR. MONTGOMERY
People have asked if I regret what I
did, and I say...
(after a beat)
No. I stand by the choices I made
that day, and if given the chance, I
would do it again. Sometimes, vile
things must be done for the good of
the Galaxy. Whether you all like it
or not. One day, sooner or later, you
will understand that.

INT. BOARD ROOM, GSA HEADQUARTERS - DAY

Montgomery is packing the last of his stuff into a bag.

MELINDA enters.

A beat. They trade looks.

MR. MONTGOMERY
Save your words. I brought this on
myself.

MELINDA
Did you mean what you said in your
address?

MR. MONTGOMERY
Of course not. The Council wanted a
scapegoat. They not only threw me
under the bus, they ran me over with
it, backed up, ran over me several
more times, and drove away.

MELINDA
Why didn't you leave? If you knew it
was wrong, why didn't you leave? Why
don't you fight them?

MR. MONTGOMERY
Ms. Martel... Melinda... you can't go
to war with the Galactic Council.
It's a losing battle. Best to do what
they say.
99.

A beat.

MELINDA
Who's your replacement?

MR. MONTGOMERY
I don't know. I assume you'll find
out soon. There's no telling what
will happen now that the truth is
out. The stain this has left on us
will never be washed clean.

MELINDA
Our image maybe tarnished, but we can
return the Agency to prominence. We
can make the galaxy trust us again.

MR. MONTGOMERY
That's not even our biggest concern.

MELINDA
What do you mean?

Montgomery hands her a FILE. He looks at her sternly.

Melinda looks it. There's text STAMPED in red: REAPERS.

She looks at him, concerned.

MELINDA (cont'd)
I thought you didn't--

MR. MONTGOMERY
I do now.

A beat.

MELINDA
I'll look into it.

Melinda turns to leave.

MR. MONTGOMERY
Melinda.

Melinda stops, turning back to him.

MR. MONTGOMERY (cont'd)

Thank you, and be careful.

She nods and leaves.

100.

INT. SCHOOL CLASSROOM, GSA SCHOOLHOUSE - LATER

Harper sits in an empty classroom, with an angry Dalton

lecturing her, while Faye sits, filing her nails.

DALTON
(to Harper)
And another thing, if you EVER pull a
stunt like this again, we'll
personally kick you out of Section 3!
Got it!?

HARPER
I helped save the galaxy. Doesn't
that count for anything?

DALTON
NO.

HARPER
Oh. Well, not even a tiny bit?

Dalton looks like he's about to leap across the desk and
strangle her.

FAYE
Dalton, honey, I think you're going
off the deep end here. The girl
really proved herself up there.
Attacking the weak spot on the
Frigate was her idea.

HARPER
And to remove the element zero.

Dalton glares at her. Harper clams right up.

DALTON
(to Faye)
She gets a pass for this?

FAYE
I don't know about a pass, but given
how she helped us, you should go
easier on her.

MELINDA enters.

MELINDA
Sorry to interrupt, but I need to
borrow Ms. Harper.

Harper quickly runs for the door, hiding behind Melinda.

101.

DALTON
This is not over. You hear me!

MELINDA
(quietly; to Harper)
Let's just go.

INT. HALLWAY, GSA SCHOOLHOUSE - CONTINUOUS

Melinda and Harper leave the classroom. Dalton's yelling

could still be heard from the hallway.

HARPER
What happens to me now?

MELINDA
You're going back to class to learn
the basics like everybody else.

HARPER
(dejected)
Aw, man.

MELINDA
That is, when you're not busy working
with us.

Harper stops and her eyes LIGHT UP.

HARPER
No way! I get to... I get to work
with you? And everybody else?!

MELINDA
I may have put in a good word for
you.

Harper latches on to Melinda for a BIG HUG.

HARPER
Thank you, thank you, thank you,
thank you, thank you!!

Melinda chuckles and hugs her back.

INT. COMMAND DECK, MELINDA'S SHIP - LATER

Melinda reads over the file. She looks up to see Tiran.

102.

MELINDA
Doctor, I thought you said you were
leaving? Decided to stay on?

TIRAN
Yes. Thane's actions left negative
impact on Galaxy. Aliens will respond
with violence. Services needed here.

BLOOM (O.S.)
He's right.

They turn to see Bloom walking on with a large duffel bag.

BLOOM
Galaxy's not gonna save itself. Not
to mention, it'll keep us paid and
out of trouble.

TIRAN
There is that too. Need to set up.
Will be in med bay if you need me.

Tiran leaves.

BLOOM
(looking around)
Where's the kid?

HARPER (O.S.)
Here I am!

Harper walks by with a box of stuff.

MELINDA
Harper, I specifically said just the
essentials.

HARPER
These are the essentials. My comics
are essential. My music is essential.
Snacks and drinks are essential. I
even got this from the weapons room.

Harper reveals a BLASTER. Small. Compact. Easy to use.

MELINDA
That weapons room is under very
strict lock and key.
103.

HARPER
Oh.
(after a beat)
Well, see ya later.

Harper walks away with her stuff. Bloom turns to Melinda,

who's shaking her head and smiling.

BLOOM
You're not gonna say anything about
that?

MELINDA
I didn't see anything, did you?

BLOOM
(chuckles)
I guess not.

BLOOM (cont'd)
You've had quite an effect on that
kid.

MELINDA
As she had on me. You all have.

Melinda and Bloom smile at each other.

BLOOM
Melinda, I think this is the
beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Bloom prepares to light a cigarette.

MELINDA
Don't push it, Bloom. And no smoking
on my ship, please.

Bloom stops, putting it away.

MELINDA (cont'd)
Thank you.

INT. COCKPIT, MELINDA'S SHIP - CONTINUOUS

All four GSA Operatives assemble in the cockpit. They take

their seats and strap in.

Melinda sits in the pilot seat.

MELINDA
Everybody strapped in?
104.

BLOOM
I'm ready when you are.

HARPER
Woo-Hoo! Where to, Captain?

All eyes to Melinda.

MELINDA
We'll wing it.

Melinda turns to Bloom, trading grins.

HARPER
Trouble, here we come!

EXT. SPACE - CONTINUOUS

Melinda's ship ZOOMS through space, passing us, disappearing

into the stars.

FADE TO BLACK.
