One Schoot OneGoal One Vision 6th Grade Newsletter 2016-2017 Dear Parents, Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year and the Central Middle School community. We are so excited to be at the beginning of 2 new school year and are looking forward to getting to know your son or daughter. ‘We would like to take this opportunity to introduce the policies that we will be adopting for the 2016-2017 school year, The entire grade has adopted these policies so that students and parents allke know our expectations. These policies are as follows: Student Conduct: Each student is responsible for adhering to all district, school, team, and classroom rules, regulations and expectations as expressed in our Central Middle School matrix found in the first pages of the student's planner, Grading Scale (according to District policy): 93- 100% = 85-92% = B 75-84% = C Homework Policy: Homework is an important part of the learning process and being prepared for class. Students are expected to turn in homework con the day that itis due. Students are expected to use their academic planner to record their homework assignments, Parents are encouraged to review the planner with their child regularly. All parents are encouraged to log into PowerSchoo! to check thelr child’s grades regularly. Power School also displays any missing assignments that a child mey have. Reviewing Power School with your student is a beneficial home support to help students keep caught up in school. If your son ar daughter loses the PowerSchool login information, please contact the school office for a copy. Late Work Policy Any assignments not turned in on the day they are due will be temporarily entered into PowerSchool as a grade of O with the notation “M” for missing. Once the assignment is turned in, the 0 will be replaced with the student's grade. A 25% grade reduction will be automatically taken on any late work that is handed in before the end of a unit. [This reduction would allow a student to maintain a passing grade if alate assignment is turned in, however it could seriously impact his or her grade ifthe student has several late assignments}. ‘A 50% grade reduction will be automatically taken on envy late work that is handed in after 2 unit has ended. Once the quarter has ended there will be no credit given to late work. Rewards: Throughout the year the team will celebrate successes both in individual classrooms and as a whole. Examples of rewards include but are not limited to: Panther Bucks, Good News Notes, choices in the classroom and celebrations.
