Journal Reflection Week 7

Activity 9.1
After observing a strangers body language for approximately five minutes,
two assumptions I can make based on this persons gestures, movements and
expressions would include, frustration/anger and upset.
When the person initiated the conversation, the person had their head down
and appeared very groggy. At the beginning of the conversation the person made
gestures which included slow movements and droopy facial expressions indicating
a possibility of being upset. As the conversation progressed, the persons actions
and facial expression indicated frustration and or anger. Their facial expressions
started to become angrier, and less subtle. They crunched their forehead quick
often and seemed as if their voice was slowly becoming more and more loud. They
also began to bulge their eyes more and changed their gestures by frantically
throwing their arms around. Their body became tense and movements went from
sloppy to stiff.
After observing the conversation and coming to the assumption that this
person began the conversation initially upset, and then slowly progressed to
frustration or anger, I could improvise not only their feelings but also the relation
between the two adults. Based on the extent that it was between a female and a
male, I came to the assumption that these two may be or were in a relationship of
some kind.
In conclusion, this shows that although you can judge emotions based on
gestures, movements and expressions, you are also able to come to other
assumptions based on the people they have surrounded themselves.
