What I have discovered about myself

It has been a wonderful journey since I began Pathway. I have learned

a lot about the work of the Lord and helping one another. I have

strengthened my testimony and faith in my Savior and Redeemer Jesus

Christ. I have also become a better person in every aspect of my life. I am

now a better mother, a better wife, a better friend, and a better person.

Even though not in a perfect way, I am able to love and understand others

because I have learned to love and understand myself. I have never thought

before I had to do something for myself. I learned to manage my time, and

while doing so I discovered I was not separating time for me and my family. I

was always doing things for others. Now I have learned to say no to some

activities and to give others the opportunity to do something for themselves

and for others too. I learned to pay myself to the work well done. I have

always paid everybody except me. I t was an exciting experience to have

myself in a position of receiving.

No I have peace of mind, my heart is full of joy and I love my life. In

fact I learned to appreciate everything I have received, even the adversities.

I am more patient, now in my way to perfection. Step by step, day by day I

am learning and rebuilding concepts and helping others to do the same.

Reading my In this I believe essay I realized my mission on this

earth is teaching people to be prepared to live better lives. I love people

and I love teaching. While in the first course I created a voluntary program
to teach English for Brazilians. It is a preparatory course for Pathway. We

had our final test last Saturday. A lot of people gave up because they

thought the course would be easy, without assignments as the activities we

have in the Church. We are using the same principles I have learned

through Pathway. We are preparing them for Pathway, and we have to live

according to the same standards.

I have also learned Math, and it was something really amazing,

because I have been living with problems in Algebra, linear equations, and

so on and so forth. Now I know it, and I have become a better professional

because of that!

I have developed my English in such a way that it is very easy now for

me to think in the meaning of a word in English first, and only after the

Portuguese terminology come up to my mind. It is the result of more than 20

hours a week of study besides the hours used to prepare and elaborate the

lessons for the English Prep Pathway Course.

After writing so many drafts and essays, I discovered I love writing,

and I decided to be a writer. I am now writing a book to be used for English

teachers: English Grammar for Brazilians. Since I love teaching, I decided

to take my Masters degree in Education as well, because I want to be a

college teacher.

Pathway has changed my way of thinking. Here in Brazil a lady with

62 years old is considered old and outdated, and I definitely do not feel I am

an old woman like many in my country who are waiting to die because they

are tired of living.

I am still alive and ready to follow my dreams because I believe I have

a special mission on earth: teaching others to have the same experience I

am having in Pathway.
