We will be hosting a memorial fundraiser in honour of Joe Nucifora; former Coach and Goal Keeper for
the SC Toronto. The event will take place on Saturday April 29th 2017 at the Ajax Convention Centre at 5
p.m. in the Westney Room
Joe went to SC Toronto with over 15 years of Coaching experience, having coached at all levels from
Grassroots to CSA National Team Programs. The last 10 years Joe had coached in Elite Programs as a
Region 3 Head Coach, Provincial Head Coach within the OSA Provincial Program. He also served as
Goalkeeping Coach with the National Training Centre of Ontario and the U17 Canadian National
Womens Team in 2010. Prior to SC Toronto, he was the Technical Director for Pickering Soccer Club
and Head Coach of the 2001 Girls in the OPDL team. Joe spent 4 years at Brams United SC as the
Senior Technical Staff. He was responsible for player and coaching development for all competitive
teams from U11-U13. Joe was the Head Coach for its 95 Rebels where 9 players went on to the
Provincial Program, 3 of the 9 to Youth National Teams (U17 & U20) and 2 players on the Senior
National team.
Joe was one of those pure soccer people that touched the lives of everyone he came across, friends,
family, strangers, and soccer players he coached and worked with. His infectious smile, work ethic, love
of the beautiful game and breadth of soccer knowledge, made having Joe an incredible asset to any of
the organizations he had worked with. Joe was born on August 1st 1970 and was diagnosed with lung
cancer shortly after his 40th birthday (Summer of 2011) Doctors predicted that Joe had six months to live,
but Joe was determined to fight cancer and to live a fulfilling life. Joe continued to live hes normal every-
day life, despite the pain and suffering he was going through because he refused treatment and chemo,
and he fought all odds. Six years later Joes lung cancer progressed to stage 4 cancer and spread to hes
brain, and passed away on March 4th 2017 with hes loved ones by hes side. In an effort to keep his
giving spirit and his memory in our hearts for years to come, the Nucifora family and SC Toronto has
started a memorial fund in honour of Joe. The money that will be raised will be used to help aspiring SC
Toronto players or goal keepers that go on to a post-secondary education and embody the values and
passion that Joe demonstrated daily.

SC Toronto will then match your donations, dollar for dollar, to a maximum of $ 10,000.00 in total funds
raised from this campaign. From the generous donation the scholarship foundation has raised $7, 500 to
date.
We are hoping that this Gala will help raise money for cancer awareness and for all future aspiring SC
Toronto players in their post-secondary education.
