Modals

Must: obligacin interna We must leave now or we will be late


Have/has to: obligacin externa I have to arrive on time at work, its a rule.
Mustnt: prohibicin You mustn't drink and drive.
Dont/doesnt have to: no es necesario I dont have to get early on Saturdays.
Neednt: no es necesario
Should/shouldnt: consejos, buena/mala idea I should call my parents more often
Ought to: consejos mas serios, con mas gravedad he ought to quit smoking
Can: posibilidad / habilidad/ pedir permiso (presente) I can speak five languages
Could: posibilidad/ habilidad (pasado) I couldn't sleep last night
May: probabilidad I would bring an umbrella, it may rain later.
Might: probabilidad ( menos probable que may) I would bring an umbrella, it might
rain later

Modals

Sujeto + modal+ have + verbo en participio

Se usan para hablar de acciones que sucedieron o no en el pasado. Ejemplo:

I should have studied for the exam. (deberia haber estudiado, es decir que no estudie)

You mustnt have arrived so late. ( no deberias haber llegado tan tarde, es decir que
regrese tarde)
