intheirearlyteens.TheyescapedrightbeforetheNazistookoverGermany.Mygreat

grandfathercameoverwithasuitcasefullofclothesandagoldtokencoininhispocket.Iam

veryinterestedaswellaseveryoneelseistolearnwhysuchahorrificeventhappenedacrossall

ofEuropeduringthistime.

Iusedmyfamilysbackgroundwhilecreatingthispiece.Ijustthinkhistoryisso

interestingandthateveryoneshouldbetaughtwhathappenedfrom19331945duringwhenthe

GermansreignedacrossEurope.TheybrieflytaughtthisinschoolbecauseitspartofWWII,but

IthinktheyshouldgowaymoreintodepthabouttheHolocaust.Thiswasahugehistoricalevent

thatpavedanewwayoflifeformanypeople(includingmygreatgrandparents).Ijustsithere

thinkingiftheydidntgetoutofGermanybeforetheNazistookoverthatIwouldntbesitting

rightherewhereIamtoday.

Iwrotethistospeaktoallthepeoplethataredealingwithraceissuestoday.Societyis

crazyinwhichhowitoperates,butsadlyitwillalwaysbelikethis.Somepeoplearetaught

withintheirfamiliestonottolikepeoplewithdifferentskincoloretc.Thisisjusthowitsgoing

tobe.Ithinkamanypeoplearescaredtosaywheretheycamefrombecauseofalltheracial

tensionthatsgoingonwithsocietytoday.

Inowunderstandwhatitfeelstogetoutwhatyoufeelonapieceofpaper.Ineverwrote
