Feasibility Of Plan:

After looking at all the aspects like capital requirement, legal formalities for the
commencement of business and selection of suppliers we found out that our business plan of
selling Kashmiri Art and Crafts Online is possible enough to execute. Nowadays people are
becoming tech Savvy and prefer to buy things online .There is a great scope of selling
Kashmiri handicrafts online as at this point of time there is not any particular online
marketplace selling the same . After doing all the analysis we came to know that each and
every business idea should involve a level of pessimism. But above all its an effort and right
planning which matters at the end. We are confident enough of making a better entry and
survival in the market as our business ideas and marketing strategies are formulated by
making a lot of research and analysis.
RESOURCES:

Handicraft is the traditional industry of the State and has been of crucial importance given its
large employment and export potential. Some of the items of industry are papier-mache,
woodcarving, carpets, shawl making, embroidery etc. The handicrafts industry, particularly
the carpet industry, has been a source of substantial foreign exchange. It provides
employment to about 3.40 lakh artisans. The number of industrial units has also gone up.
Jammu has Urban Haats, while a similar Haat is being commissioned in Srinagar. An Export
Promotion Industrial Park has been established at Kartholi, Jammu. A similar Park is being
set up at Ompora, Budgam. A pashmina dehairing project assisted by the United Nations
Development Programme (UNDP) is coming up in the Leh industrial estate of the State.

We believe rather than spending a lot of time in exhibitions and then purchasing a craft item,
people can purchase the crafts of its own choice with great comfort and ease just by clicking
through a mouse button. As now we people of Jammu and Kashmir have high speed internet
facility and every person even the few years old child is quite capable of operating it.

Besides this, our target customers are not only the people from Jammu and Kashmir but also
outsiders and foreigners as everyone is fond of Kashmiri crafts and wants to try it at least
once in their life.

Our online crafts business will create a platform through which the people from any corner of
world can make the best experience of Kashmiri crafts which otherwise would have been
difficult for them.

GOVERNMENT POLICIES:
As far as policies of government are concerned regarding setting up of online crafts business
in Kashmir, we believe that government is very supportive for starting the business unit in
Kashmir whether it is online or offline.

Entrepreneur Development Institution was setup in Kashmir with the aim to encourage
startups and to provide the lot of support to them.
Besides this the financial assistance is also provided by government of Jammu and Kashmir
for starting the new business in Kashmir and loans form the part of it.

One of the schemes provided by Government of India to promote crafts in country and
particularly in Kashmir is Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hastshilp Vikas Yojana. This scheme aims
to promote Indian handicrafts by developing artisans clusters into professionally managed
and self-reliant community enterprise on the principles of effective member participation and
mutual cooperation. The thrust of the scheme is on a project based; need based integrated
approach for sustainable development of handicrafts through participation of crafts persons.

Another initiative taken by the Govt. is the development of CDI (Crafts Development
Institute).CDI offers full-fledged professional educational programmes for young people who
seek careers/entrepreneurial opportunities in the handicrafts sector. The Institute also co-
participates in mentoring new generation artisans through skill-based training and workshops.
Additionally, CDI helps regional crafts people to adopt mainstream requirements of quality
and production while also assisting them to meaningfully translate contemporary
design/market trends, and issues of standards, certifications and compliances.

The production of the handicraft sector registered a growth of 126.07 per cent in terms of
value from Rs.280 lakh to Rs. 633 lakh during 1998-2000. The handicrafts and handloom
sector provides employment to over 4 lakh people. Realizing the vast potential for
employment, the JAMMU AND KASHMIR government has undertaken various programmes
including training programmes for the youth in different crafts and market assistance
schemes. Several welfare measures have been undertaken for the weavers, e.g.,
modernization of the looms in order to boost the handloom activity in the state. In order to
revive the handloom sector, a multi-pronged strategy as mentioned below should be pursued:

Addition of new designs and product diversification.

Improvement of productivity of weavers through enhancement of skills, introduction

of more efficient looms and other related equipment.

Greater market access to the handloom products produced in the state through
effective marketing strategy and appropriate incentives. In this connection the
National Handloom Development Corporation Ltd.s marketing infrastructure in
Delhi, Jaipur and Hyderabad should be utilized for marketing the state handloom
products.

As regards the handicrafts sector, there is an urgent need for adopting a pragmatic approach
to exploit its potentialities through the following steps:

a. Adopt a cluster approach by identifying and promoting various handicrafts clusters in the
state, giving them necessary support in design development, production and marketing of
various handicraft items.

b. The Central Silk Board should provide liberal assistance to re-engineer the silk sector
including the establishment of a cocoon bank to enable cocoon produced in JAMMU AND
KASHMIR to be reeled within the state. This would help the state to increase the value
addition of cocoons both for yarn and converted fabrics.

c. There should be a systematic promotion of handicrafts of Kashmir in international markets

and developing a brand name.

Technical support
Assistance for training the trainers.
Assistance for design and technological up gradation.
Financial assistance for development and supply/dissemination of modern improved
tools, equipments etc.,
Documentation, preservation and revival of languishing crafts etc.

Legal Formalities
There is not any requirement of legal formalities for starting an e-commerce business, but it is
mandatory to register the Company under the Companies act 1956 and 2013.

Business model to be adopted

As far as business model is concerned that we need to adopt in our business in order to
become successful is B2B and B2C.
We primarily focused to sell our products directly to our end consumers. This model helps us
to avoid the middle man through which the products move from point of production to point
of consumption. This model also helps us to keep costs at bay and sell products at reasonable
prices.
One more model that we were looking upon is B2B in which we will sell products to other
businesses dealing with crafts. This model helps us to sell bulk quantity of handicraft
products and which in turn will help us to gain more profits.
