Water Management

1.
I chose the topic of water management because I think the issue
of water scarcity is a very important and relevant topic in Arizona. I
chose management as a specific topic within water sustainability
because I feel like there are very simple ways to manage the amount
of water we use every day that can create a helpful solution. The
specific sustainability top that I am exploring is management, which is
different ways to conserve water resources under set policies and
regulations. This topic is relevant in sustainability because it includes
ways to improve our environment. It allows us to conserve water, have
better quality water, and to improve the environment and population
by having more and better water.
When learning about water in sustainability class, I was most
engaged in this topic. I find water interesting and relevant. Without
even doing research on water management, I was able to visualize
many different ways to manage water. Because of this, I thought that
water management would be a fun topic for me to research and work
on. This topic is very important for every individual to consider as a
citizen. We are all affected by water shortage, which is why we should
all do something about it. We can all pitch in to create a better water
system where water is managed under a set of policies and regulations
and can create more water resource availability.

2.
The topic of water management matters for my students
because they are our future generation. If we can teach them the
importance of conserving water through management at a young age,
then we will be set for the future- this way of futures thinking will make
for better water management procedures in the future. This topic is
relevant to teach in my future classroom because it has to do with
sustainability and is a very important topic as we need to learn how to
manage water to ensure there isnt a water scarcity in the future.
Having water management skills is very important for
elementary school students to have so that they can create a better
future for our environment. They also need all of the knowledge about
water scarcity and water sustainability so that they can be educated
about the importance of water management. This topic relates to other
content areas such as science, math, and language arts. It can relate
to science because sustainability and water are discussed in science
classes. It can also relate to the unit when they are talking about
matter and liquids. It can relate to math as students can solve
problems in math to find out how much more water there is when
management procedures are enforced. It can relate to language arts
as the sustainability topic can be used as a research and essay topic
for the students to write about.
3. My overall topic for this sustainability topic is water.
4. My specific focus within water for this project is water management.
5. I intend to focus on this topic within second grade.
6. I do not have a plan for a targeted audience. My audience is general.
7. In this 5-day unit plan we will go over lessons about water use,
conservation, and management. I will teach a lesson about the impact
of water usage and how beneficial water management can be. In our
lesson plan, we will discuss water and the impact that occurs when
water is used in certain ways.
8. Day one: This lesson will cover the water and every resource that
uses water so that students can see how often water is used in every
day life.
9. Day two: We will go over what happens when you use too much
water such as leaving it on for too long, taking long shower, and using
too much unnecessary water.
10. Day three: What is water management? In this lesson we will learn
about water management and how its impact can conserve water and
make for a better environment with better quality and more water.
11. Day four: How does water management impact the negativity of
water scarcity? In this lesson we will research and do experiments on
how water management decreases the amount of water wasted and
increase the quality of water.
12. What are the positives and negative of having water management
in Arizona? There are stricter rules about using water, which may be
bothersome, but what are the positives that are yielded from managing
water use?
