An overview of ACI 314-16, Guide to a Simplified Design for Reinforced Concrete Buildings.
Presenting simplified methods and design techniques that facilitate and speed the engineering of low-rise buildings
within certain limitations. Materials will be presented in an order that follows typical design process with procedures
introduced as the designer will need them in the course of a building design. The design meets all requirements of
ACI 318-14.
Instructor: Mike Mota, Ph.D., P.E., SECB, F.ASCE, F.ACI, F.SEI is the Vice President of Engineering for the
Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute (CRSI). Mike is responsible for the Technical Department and oversees the
development of all technical publications and standards. Mike is a voting member of ACI committees (318, 318B
and 318R), Chair of ACI Committee 314 on Simplified Design of Concrete Buildings, ASCE-7(16) Main Committee
and serves on the Board of Directors of the Concrete Industry Board of New York City/NYC ACI Chapter and is a
