Subject: Proposal to do research on investigating the relationship between having good hand
writing and getting good marks in context of University of Dhaka.

Problem Definition:

Each and every literate human has his own manner of writing. Handwriting shows writers
personality. Handwriting states that whether the person is nervous or intoxicated at that time
or attentive towards his work. It is like the first impression of a student to his teacher. It is
always along with the subject knowledge good handwriting can impress anyone than bad
hand writing. But If content is there accurately in bad hand writing, its difficult to say
whether a student with good handwriting will always get good marks or not.

Hand writing is a fact for getting good or bad marks. In this research I will investigate the
relationship between having good hand writing and getting good marks in context of North
South University.

Objective of the research:

The objective of the research encompasses broad and specific objectives. These are given
below:-

Broad Objective: The broad objective of the term paper is to analyze the relationship between
good hand writing and good marks in context of University of Dhaka.

Specific Objective: Specific objectives of study are as follows

To identify the factors those influence good marks

To find out the relationship of subject matter and good marks

To know about the factors those are functioning as the reasons of bad hand writing
To identify the problems faced by the students who have bad hand writing
To provide recommendations regarding those problems.
Research Questions:

Through my research I am aiming to explore the relationship between having good hand
writing and getting good marks in context of University of Dhaka. Through my research I
would like to transmit the following research questions:

What is good hand writing?

Why hand writing is important?
What are the possible reasons for bad hand writing?
What do the students of DU say about the relationship of hand writing and marks?
What do the professors of DU say about the relationship of hand writing and marks?
How do students can overcome the bad hand writing to a better one?

Hypothesis:

Hand writing is the writing characteristic of a particular person. The most important quality
of good handwriting is legibility with a nice style. Good handwriting makes a very good
impact on the one who is reading it because it creates first impression about the writer. It is
said that a person with good hand writing states his interest and concentration. Most of the
students have bad hand writing because of carelessness and lack of concern about hand
writing. Sometimes its because of students very beginning instructor of hand writing. So
good handwriting can impress teachers as a result sometimes students score good marks. By
concern about making each and every alphabet, hand writing can be clear and it can be better
than previous.

Research methodology:

For my primary research, I would like to conduct a survey of a representative sample of

student of University of Dhaka. To that I will design questionnaire with various types of
questions so as to get a range of useful data which will help me to provide with answers of
my research questions. I would also like to interview Professors of different department of
University of Dhaka and some students who have positive or negative experience about it.

For my secondary research I plan to use the resource of the library and web- books and
articles, standard reference sources and also browse the internet and use standard search
engines like Google and Yahoo.

Limitation:
I have faced several short-comings in conducting my research. My statistics was thus focused
on students of University of Dhaka. Constraint of time was a big problem. My survey
consisted of only 30 respondents. Because of time constraint, I could not carry out the survey
on a large number of students. Thus, my insufficient data pool was not adequate to provide
the concrete base required to prove my hypothesis. I was also not able to find enough
secondary sources to explain my topic more clearly. However, they were fairly helpful.
Though I tried my best, some of the answers were overlapping and some of the questions
were not understood properly by my respondents. Finally, time constraints have led to the
decline of the quality of the report. Only three interviews cannot represent the view of all
Professor of University of Dhaka. So it hampers lack of findings.

Organization:

My paper will be divided in several sections, the most important of which are the
Introduction, Background, Data Presentation and Analysis, Summary of Findings, Conclusion
and Recommendation. Within these sections my organization will be based on my research
questions and hypothesis of the chosen topic.

Timetable:

I plan to complete my primary research by first two days and my secondary research by 3 rd
day. I shall complete writing the final draft of my research paper before 6 th day and submit it
by the specified deadline towards 7th day.
