Our April Farmers Market went well with a reasonable crowd in

Anyone visiting Bunnings Mentone on Saturday may have


seen a display by students of the Little Jetnm Robotics team
from Sandringham Secondary College. They were the winners
of a national robotics competition and are now fund-raising to
get themselves to Denmark in May to represent Australia. The
teacher in attendance said that they had already raised half of
the required $45,000 for the trip. We have committed to make
a donation and have also applied for a matching District grant.

Youth Protection Training Seminar  The name and contact number of the person mak-
ing the report should be obtained
 The matter should be reported to the Club Compli-
ance officer asap and they will ensure the investi-
gation and other reporting requirements are met
4) Partners are very willing to obtain a WWC card
and the Club will progress this.
5) Storage of records will be done in our members
only section on the web which will ensure we keep the
required records.
6) Insurance cover is available but carries some strict
requirements.

Thirty-nine members, partners and guests attended the


Beaumaris Rotary Youth Protection training seminar on
Thursday evening.
Participants were updated on the new Victorian Legisla-
tion and the subsequent District 9810 policy, Code of
Conduct, reporting and Insurance requirements relating to
programs that involve Youth.
A quiz using practical examples and a discussion on the
content concluded the program
The key take aways from the session were:
1) The requirement that any Rotarian or partner who
directly participates in a Youth program (<18yrs
old) must have a current Working with Children
Card.
2) A new Youth program must go through the follow-
ing stages before the event is held
 A risk assessment is done and submitted to District
Compliance and Insurance Officers
 The Board must record its approval of the project
 All participants must have a WWC card and their
attendance at the event recorded and kept
3) Reporting any incident and subsequent investiga-
tion must follow certain guidelines
 An incident report should be completed collecting
as many facts as possible

Cyclone Debbie RAWCS Project

On March 28, Cyclone Debbie a category 4 cyclone devastated areas from Bowen South to Mackay region, these communities
which are located in Rotary D9550 and Rotary D9570 need assistance.

On behalf of DG Craig from D9570 and I, we have set up an appeal to assist those in need following the aftermath of the cy-
clone. Please see below details below with links to the RAWCS website for clubs or individuals wanting to make tax deductible
donations. If you could distribute through to your clubs and your contacts, this would be greatly appreciated.

Rotary Down under will also be sending out a newsletter with this information. Thank you, Debbie, and the crew for your follow

ROTARY DISTRICT 9810 GOLF DAY -4th MAY 2017

This event is for D9810 members and partners only and is not only aimed at the more
serious golfers but also those who do not have an official handicap but enjoy a fun filled
day of social golf. It is the aim of District Governor Carol that ladies are encouraged to
join in the fun of the day.
