In the nearly three years that | have known Ms. Troup, | will attest that she is one of the most hardworking and student frst professional's that | have fad the pleasure working for me. Ms. Troup is an individual who constantly seeks ways to improve herself academically and professionally. She worked for me in the TRIO Upward Bound program, a federally funded program geared to preparing low-income and first generation students for postsecondary education, as a Residence Hall Counselor during the summer. While working for Upward Bound, Ms. Troup duties included a live-in position directly supervising 16 students, assisting oversee all 65 students, attending to student needs emotionally, academically and serving as a role modelimentoring, and monitoring students’ whereabouts and activities throughout each day of the program. Residence Hall Counselors for Upward Bound require a tremendous amount of responsibilty, maturity and time commitment to the program, but are provided numerous opportunites to begin their professional growth and gain real experiences in education that can be taken back to the classroom. Due tothe high level of maturity and responsibilty Ms. Troup showed during ths time, | had Ms. Troup assist me with the day-to-day planning and scheduling forthe program and considered her a key member of my staff, The experiences she gained while working in our summer program attributed to her work experience with diverse student populations, handing a high level of multitasking and management she can bring to the classroom. Any task that | asked Ms. Troup to do was completed within a timely manner and completed correctly. | am very proud of her forall her ‘accomplishments and experiences that she gained from this position, ‘As a former K-12 educator and current higher education professional working with pre-college federal programs, iis in my professional opinion that Ms. Troup will make an excellent addition to your faculty and would be an asset to have in the district.
