Information and support:
putting patients truly at the centre of healthcare

Information is one of the key enablers to putting the patient truly at the
centre of their care; it supports decision making; self-care and staying well.
There has never been a greater interest in health information or a better
time to understand how it can be provided and supported effectively in
healthcare. If you want to see information at its best and network with the
professionals, this is the conference for you. Whether youre new to health
information or an old hand theres something for everyone.
This ninth patient information conference showcases the work of health information
experts, focusing on the tools that enable producers and providers to improve
information services and resources; and to put the individual truly at the centre of their
care.
Bringing together experts from across the NHS and voluntary sector, the scene is
set by putting the most important view in healthcare that of the patient - at centre
stage. Keynote sessions bring you up to date with policy, commissioning and individual
participation, including the House of Care. Delegates will hear updates about important
projects such as the next phase of NHS Choices and the Information Standard and
Care Quality Commission regulation around information services.
In-depth sessions focus on some of the key drivers in health information: health literacy
and how to meet needs in practice, information in primary care, using different formats
and informed consent to treatment. As always, there are opportunities to network and
learn from your peers, and for the first time this year you can showcase your work by
presenting a conference poster.

People should have the right

information and support to be able to
