The Arlington National Cemetery is located in Washington D.C. This cemetery


has many monuments and memorials that was created for the deceased
veterans and distinguished government figured of the United States. There
are many monuments that students, at least 4th grade, will be able to learn
about and connect the information they have learned about to.

2. Lincoln Memorial Washington DC

The Lincoln Memorial is another one of the many places that you can visit
whenever in Washington D.C. The Lincoln Memorial was created to honor
President Abraham Lincoln. Even if the students are not able to physically go
see the Lincoln Memorial they are able to look at many pictures that have
been taken of it. Although, if they are able to go visit they will learn about
why the Lincoln Memorial was created for Abraham Lincoln and what
Abraham Lincoln did to get this memorial created for him.

3. Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon is located in Arizona. It is a natural formation of rocks and river 277-miles
long, up to 18-miles wide, and 1-mile deep. This would be a fun trip for 3rd and 4th grade students
to see, especially if they are learning about rocks and the formation of rocks. Even if you are not
able to go see the Grand Canyon there are many photographs of it that we are able to create into
a virtual field trip for the students to feel like they are there.

4. Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone National Park is a natural location that is fascinating for anyone


to see. There is volcanos, hot springs, mudpots, geysers, forests, mountains,
wildlife, and more for people of all ages to explore. This field trip would be a
fascinating trip for students of all ages to take because there are many
things for each age group to enjoy and learn about.

5. Washington Monument

The Washington Monument is located in Washington D.C. This monument was created to
commemorate George Washington. It is the words tallest stone structure. This monument would
be very neat for students to see. Around 2nd-3rd grade would be a fascinating time for the students
to see how large this monument is, and why it was created for George Washington.

6. Mount Rushmore National Memorial

Mount Rushmore National Memorial is located in South Dakota. It features the Presidents
George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln who are
carved into Mount Rushmore. There is also a Museum with exhibits to go see. Whenever the
students are learning about different presidents it would be a fascinating site for them to see and
learn about. Even if the students are not able to actually go see this monument it would be
enjoyable just for the students to look at pictures of this monument and find the explanations on
why these presidents were carved into the mountain and not others.

7. 9-11 Museum

The 9-11 Museum is located in New York City. This museum would more be geared towards 4th
graders because of the content in the museum. There is tours that the museum gives out that
helps the public and/or students learn about the history of 9/11. New York City is not far away
from Pennsylvania, so if there could be a 1-2 day trip the students would be able to go and enjoy
the 9/11 museum. If the students will not be able to go to New York City the teacher is always
able to use photographs to create a virtual field trip for the students.

8. Fords Theater

Fords Theater is located in Washington D.C. This is where Abraham Lincoln got assassinated at.
This theater still does many performances as well as having a museum, live discussions, summer
programs, and a virtual tour of the theater. So, whenever students will be learning about Abraham
Lincoln even if the teacher is not able to take them to Washington D.C. they will be able to use
the virtual tour or other resources on their website to help students learn about Fords Theater.

9. White House

The White House is located in Washington D.C. This is where the President of the United States
lives and serves. You can call in to request a tour of the White House and see the different offices
in the White House. Students in grades 2 are learning about historical figures and the President,
so a trip to the White House would be a great experience for these students to really know what
the President does and where he creates all of the laws and rules.

10. National Underground Railroad Freedom Center

This museum is located in Cincinnati Ohio. It opened in 2004 and to show the
stories of heros from the underground railroad. There are many exhibits that
come and go as well as those that stay in the museum that recall the history
of the underground railroad, the people, different events that helped freedom
of African Americans, and how we are still fighting for freedom all around the
world still. This would be used in more of a 4th grade classroom whenever
talking about slavery. Since this is in Ohio it would not be that far to get to
for a 1-2-day trip, or the teacher can create a virtual field trip on this
museum.
