Complex causal schemas - Kelley

Unlike simple or additive schemas, complex causal schemas, according to Kelley,

depict personality dispositions and situations as forces that exert
interactive, mutually dependent effects on behaviorthat is, a disposition
manifests itself differently depending on the situation, or a situation
affects people differently depending on their dispositions.

Situations were mostly the basis of behavior responses in everyday life and
showcased the personality of the person y

If Then frameworks were theoretical and could allow someone to decode

the complex causal schemas.

The goal of the study was to show that people understand the if- then
framework and use it when making judgment about others.

The study = determine importance of said framework in personality

Three studies investigated conditions in which perceivers view

dispositions and situations as interactive, rather than independent, causal
forces when making judgments about anothers personality.

The findings indicate that perceivers take account of personsituation

interactions (reflected in if . . . then . . . signatures) in everyday
explanations of social behavior and personality dispositions.
