Introduction.

The municipality Libertador from Merida state is one of the more outstanding in quantum
to the unrolling economic, population and inside area of this entity Andina. It form part of
the area metropolitan the Mrida together with the municipalities Campo Elias, Santos
Marquina and Sucre of the Mrida state in Venezuela.

History

The plain on that the Libertador municipality is found right now, it was inhabited by
Indigenous groups called tateyes or tatuyes, they cultivated maiz. The religion of they, were

Merida was founded by Juan Rodrguez Surez the 9 of October 1558. In 1622, Merida
became in the capital from Merida.

Localization

The municipality Libertador, is limited by the north with Caracciolo Parra


Olmedo and Justo Briceo municipalities, by the south with the Barinas state and the
Aricagua municipality, by the east with the Santos Marquina and Rangel municipality, and
finish by the west with the Campo Elas municipality.

Parish Organization of municipalities

It is divided in 13 parishes:

1) Antonio Spinetti Dini: it includes the avenue Las Amricas since the CC Mamayeya
until the bridge of the Hechicera, by the avenue Los Prceres since the CC
Buganvillas by the avenue Cardenal Quintero. (Residencies Domingo Salazar
Rojas).
2) Arias: it includes the avenues 8 paredes, 7 Maldonado, 6 Rodrguez Surez, 5 Zerpa
y la 4 Bolvar, going by the sidewalk right side, toward the sector El Arenal and
the urbanizations Don Perucho, Carlos Gainza and the sectors La Vega de San
Antonio, El Rincn de Lourdes and la Cueva
3) Caracciolo Parra Prez: it includes the avenues Los Prceres since the super market
San Nio until the intersections of the avenue Ezio Valeri and by the avenue Las
Amricas, and since the barracks of the Fire Department until the viaduct Sucre.
(Transport Terminal and Las Amricas).
4) Domingo Pea: it includes since finish of the avenue Don Tulio Febres Cordero
(school Godoy), avenue 16 de Septiembre (Santa Elena, Campo de Oro) until Santa
Juana.
5) El Llano: since the viaduct Campo Elas (Street 26), avenues 1, Rodrguez, 2
Obispo Ramos de Lora, 3 Independencia, 4 Bolvar until the sector Glorias Patria
(street 37). going by the paseo Domingo Pea, the avenue Urdaneta until the viaduct
Sucre (CC Ramiral).
6) Gonzalo Picn Febres: sinse the sector San Benitountil La Culata (El Valle) and
sinse La Vuelta de Lola until El Vallecito
7) Jacinto Plaza: by the via El Arenal sinse the sector La Pueblita, San Jacinto, the
sector Pie de La Loma, Las Tienditas del Chama, sector Chamita and urbanization
Carabobo. (Cuenca del Cama)
8) Juan Rodrguez Surez: start in the viaduct Sucre and extends along of the avenue
Andrs Bello until the sector Zumba, going by the detour toward La Parroquia.also
corresponds the Road link Gmez Arellano until the urbanization La Hacienda. (La
Punta)
9) Lasso de la Vega: it includes the avenues Los Prceres, since the super market El
Santo Nio until El Puente La Pedregosa (north and aouth), urbanizations La Linda,
La Orqueta and residents Sai-Sai and La Floresta.
10) Mariano Picn Salas: it includes the avenues Las Amricas sinse the CC Canta
Claro, viaduct Sucre, by the avenue Los Prceres sinse the entry of the urbanization
Santa Brbara west until the CC Buganvillas.
11) Milla: it includes the avenue 4 Bolvar by the sidewalk right side, 3 Independencia,
2 Obispo Ramos de Lora and the 1 Rodrguez Picn, beginning of the steet 18 and
extends along of the avenue , Universidad, sector La Hoyada de Milla, sector
Chorros de Milla, Santa Rosa, part of the avenue Los Prceres, La Milagrosa until
el barrio Santa Ana.
12) Osuna Rodrguez: it includes the urbanizations os Curos, La Mata, La
Panamericana, via Jaj until the sector sector Los Maitines. (El Rincn, El Llanito,
La Otra Banda, avenue Los Prceres).
13) Sagrario: it includes the avenues 2 Obispo Ramos de Lora, 3 Independencia, 4
Bolvar, 5 Zerpa, 6 Rodrguez, 7 Maldonado and 8 Paredes, since the street 18 until
the street 26 with viaduct Campo Elas. (city center of Mrida).

The population for the year 2013 was of 250.303 inhabitants with one superface of 907
kilometers, this way is the municipality more dence of the Merida state with a density
of population of 276 inhabitants for kilometer.
Education.

Merida is a city with a percentage very high of education, especially in the education higher

and with a literacy rate of 0%. Also it contains the university with greater traditions of
country: la Universidad de Los Andes. Also the libertador municipality owns other

universities of education higher, such as:

In the education basic and half it municipality own in his most institutions private, Between

the which it is found: Colegio Nuestra Seora del Rosario, Colegio Fe y Alegria,

Colegio Inmaculada Concepcin, Colegio Madre Laura, Colegio Sagrada Familia,

Colegio La Salle, Colegio San balentn, Unidad Educativa Colegio San Juan Bosco

and Liceo Privado Mrida. Between the intitutions is: Educrea, Injuven, Escuela

Estadal Teresa de Manrique, Unidad Educativa Virgen de Las Nieves, Unidad

Educativa Rivas Dvila, Unidad Educativa Ramn Nez.

And finally it municipality own intitutions of music, sports and languages foreign such as:

English, French Italian.

Climate

It has a subtropical climate with moderates temperatures due to the geographic location of
this city within the Andean mountain range, and its high altitude. In the surrounding areas

and mountains, above the height meters the climate is temperate mountain.

Vegetation and Fauna

The vegetation found in the municipally, corresponds to the mountain vegetation

emphasizing by the south the clouded forest within the national park Sierra Nevada as well

as the vegetation of height composed by the frailejones.

The fauna wild is represent by lapas, garzas, loros, guacharacas, iguanas and pajuiles.

The fauna fluvial is represented by fishes as cachama, palometa, coropo, bagres, rayado,

toros, tumare, cascarrones and curitos.

Health

This city has a good quality of life in Venezuela. The urban area from Mrida has 36

centers of health; it is distributed this way: Hospital type I, hospital type III and hospital

type IV; 15 ambulatories urban, too it has 18 rurals ambulatories.

Besides, the Universidad de los Andes has a infrastructure medical compound by centers

hospitable and centers of health privates. Some: Universitario de los Andes hospital,
