East Central Bristol

Summer Holiday Activities

2010

Information subject to change - please check with the organisation before

attending events. Information correct as at June 24th 2010.
Providers from East Central Bristol have organised a range of
childcare and summer holiday activities for children and young
people. This booklet gives you information about those activities
and registered childcare (marked RC in this booklet) available
over the summer holidays.

More detailed information is available from the organisations

providing the service. Registered childcare for children under 8
years old is regulated by Ofsted. The setting must conform to
the National Standards for Day Care and Childminding. Informal
activities which only provide for children over 8 years do not
have to be registered.

Parents/Carers should satisfy themselves that the activities are

of an acceptable standard and quality and are appropriate for
their child’s individual needs. Useful information is available at:
www.childsafe.org.uk

If you would like details of registered childcare providers in your

area please contact the Family Information Service on 0845
129 7217 or Email askcyps@bristol.gov.uk

If your child is attending childcare provision, or an activity where

the provider is registered with Ofsted, or run by a school, you
may be entitled to claim the childcare element of the Working
Families Tax Credit. Once again the Family Information
Service will be able to provide you with information and advice
on claiming this benefit.

4-14 year olds

Welcome to our exciting and fun packed summer
programme.

We hope that you can come and join us for fun and
excitement, to meet old friends and make new ones.

Sparks is open from 8.15am to 5.45pm, Mondays to

Fridays during the summer holidays (excluding bank
holidays).

We have lots of fun activities planned, ranging from craft,

sports, cooking, den making, team games, trips, stories
and role play.

When there isn’t a planned activity happening the children

are welcome to play indoors or outdoors, do some
designing in the craft room, play in the early years’ room or
just relax in the quiet room.

The television and computer games will also be available

for short periods throughout the day but not during the
activity sessions.
