MY PET RABBIT

WHAT THEY ARE

They are small mammals that live all around the world. Their fur can be brown, black,
grey or white. Theyve got four legs. They have five toes on their front paws and four
on their hind legs. Their nails are strong and they are used for digging. A group of
rabbits is called a colony. Rabbit have a very good sense of vision and very strong teeth.
Rabbits are herbivores (plant eaters). They eat grass and other little plants. Rabbits are
the main prey of red foxes, badgers, and Iberian lynxes .

Bunnies have lots of babies. They can give birth to up to nine babies. Mother rabbits in
the wild spend only a few moments each day with their babies in order to avoid drawing
attention to them from predators. The babies grow quickly and continue to live together
as a family.

The only rabbit to be widely domesticated is the European rabbit. The Romans
domesticated them and they wanted them to be larger than wild rabbits.

HOW HE LOOKS LIKE

My pet rabbit is a small rabbit and a male. It is brown and it has not as long ears as ordinary
rabbits. It has got one brown eye and one red eye. He has got one red eye because the neighbor
s cat scratched it. He likes eating rabbit food, lettuce, broccoli and bread. Helives in a cage in
the yard. Inside the cage it has a rabbit bottle where it gets all the water he drinks and a little bit
of hay where he sleeps.

He can play with his balls at home but I dont allow him to bite my shoes. It is very necessary
to train pets in order to respect everything and everybody in the family. This way you will not
find your favourite shoes totally broken or you will avoid an accident to your pet.

HOW I GOT MY PET RABBIT

My pet rabbit was a present from my friends Marcela, Hctor and Raquel. They gave it to me
for my birthday. I was 6 years old. My mother told me about the present but then she told me it
was a joke for me not to suspect. My father and my brother Matias didnt say a thing.

It was a great surprise to me when I saw them appear with my rabbit. I couldnt believe my
eyes!! I had never had a rabbit before, so I had to find out how to feed him and how to train it.
WHAT I AM GOING TO BE WHEN I GROW OLDER

When I grow old I am going to be a zookeeper because I like animals. I would like to care for
giraffes and elephants because they are my favorite animals. I think it has to be hard work and I
can get tired because they are the biggest animals in the zoo.

Sometimes I have some doubts about being a zookeeper and I would like to be a policewoman.
Being a policewoman sounds good but is also risky. You must run after thieves and control the
traffic. I think I will have plenty of time to make up my mind so I can take it easy now!!
