Improved Compatibility with Helmets

The COMTACTM ACH headset is the third generation of COMTAC Tactical Communication Headsets. Its cup pro-
file has been improved, providing better fit and improved comfort for a variety of helmets used by military and
law enforcement professionals, including the Advanced Combat Helmet (ACH). The headset features external
microphones for talk-thru capability so todays warfighter can maintain situational awareness while still pro-
tecting their hearing. The COMTAC ACH headset has been fielded by the U.S. SOCOM and U.S. Army PEO Soldier.

Patented Dual-Protection Design

Open/Weapons Fire Mode: This earplugs patented design allows wearers to more easily hear low-level sounds
critical to mission safety conversation, footsteps, rifle bolts. When needed, the earplugs filter provides at-
tenuation of high level noises like weapons fire and explosions.
Closed/Constant Protection Mode: For attenuation of constant noise (aircraft, armored vehicles, etc.) without
hear-through.

Explanation of the Hear-ThroughTM Protection

Utilized by the Combat ArmsTM Earplugs
Single-Ended Version
If the rocker cover is in Open/Weapons Fire mode (illustrated below), sound travels into the earplug and down the sound
channel to the special filter. The filter allows lower-level sounds to pass with limited interruption but high-level impulsive
noises are restricted. The more intense the impulse, the more it is limited. When the rocker cover is in the Closed/Constant
Protection mode, the earplug provides an NRR of 23 dB.

Dual-Ended Version
Sound travels into the opening at the middle of the earplug and down the sound channel in the yellow end of the earplug
to the special filter. When the yellow end is inserted, the filter allows lower-level sounds to pass with limited interruption
but high-level impulsive noises are restricted. The more intense the impulse, the more it is limited. When the green end is
inserted, the earplug provides an NRR of 22 dB.

requirements of OSHA 1910.134 including training, fit
testing and medical evaluation. In Canada, CSA
standards Z94.4 requirements must be met and/or
requirements of the applicable jurisdiction, as appropri-
ate. Misuse may result in sickness or death. For

These hearing protectors help reduce exposure to hazardous noise
and other loud sounds. Misuse or failure to wear hearing protectors
at all times that you are exposed to noise may result in hearing

ear infection, consult with your physician before wearing ear plugs.

*Research suggests that many users will receive less noise reduction
than indicated by the NRR due to variation in earplug fit and wearing
time. It is recommended that the NRR be reduced by 50% for
estimating the average amount of noise reduction provided.
