Freeport Gospel Chapel School

In April 1978 Freeport Gospel Chapel Preschool, an educational institution for children

was started with an enrolment of 8 students. It was the first school owned and operated by a

member church of the Assemblies of Brethren in the Bahamas. Sis. Maria Thompson was the

founding principal. From its humble beginnings in the chapels Sunday school rooms it has

grown to a full-fledged preschool and primary school covering Kindergarten Grade 6 located

on a 3 acre parcel of land adjacent to the chapel, Phase One was constructed in 1990. The

school now hosts an average of 350 students.

Philosophy

All Children have a right to receive a first-class, Christian education that will equip them

with the necessary beliefs, attitudes, knowledge, skills, and a personal relationship with God

which will enable them to serve God and Country.


Mission Statement

The Mission of Freeport Gospel Chapel School to train each child in the way they should

go, Show them God's way, Teach them God's Path, Lead them in God's truth, and demonstrate

the love of God. Pray for them and with them. Prepare them academically, physically, socially,

and spiritually. Provide a safe and positive environment to learn in without fear. (Show Me...

Teach Me... Lead Me...).

F.G.C.S. is founded on Christian principles therefore, the theme verse and motto is

reflective as such.

School's Verse: "Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart

from it. Proverbs 22:6

School's Motto: "Monstra...Doce...Doc", (Latin by Brian Seymour) Show me, Teach me, Lead

me. The logo was designed, explained and drafted by Hartley Eugene Thompson II.

School's Song: Yield Not to Temptation.

School's Mascot: "The Eagles" inspired by Isaiah 40:31.
