I-DEFINITIONS:
Gigantism. Disease occurs due to excess secretion of GH before puberty.
Myxoedema. 2-Hypofunction of thyroid gland after puberty
Goiter. Enlargement of thyroid gland. It may be accompanied with normal, hypo
or hyperfunction of the thyroid.
Goitrogens. Agents inducing goiter or which interfere with T3 & T4 synthesis.
Pheochromocytoma It is a secreting tumor of the adrenal medulla producing excess amounts
of catecholaminrs either continuously or intermittently.
Cryptrochidism. Failure of a testis to descend from the abdomen into the scrotum.
Addissonian Crisis Acute onset of shock, dehydration, vomiting, severe muscle weakness,
severe hypotension and hypoglycemia. If not treated coma and death may
occur.
